I swore I had a review of this fragrance, but checking again, no. I’m wearing it today, at home in fresh weather and also with air conditioning. It’s not an easy fragrance, but the review by the companion preceding me is a thorough and spot-on analysis.

I swore I had a review of this fragrance, but checking again, there isn’t one. I’m wearing it today at home in cool weather, plus with the air conditioning on. It’s not an easy scent, but the review from the person before me is a thorough and spot-on analysis.

Smells strongly of laurel, anchored by clove, geranium… patchouli… beyond that, its leather scent (which doesn’t last long on my skin) reminds me of freshly polished shoes with that cleaning fluid sometimes used and shoe polish. The combination of what might be mentholated pine and the other vegetal notes results in a ‘quirky’ smell. If ELdO’s intention was to recreate a ‘suspicious’ aroma, so to speak, to symbolise the ‘traitor’, I think they’ve achieved it to some extent. It leaves me with a sober, ochre, earthy sensation. Generally, it seems a fragrance inclined towards a male audience, with a certain retro touch. A ‘macho’ aroma, without being rough. For some reason, it gives me sensations (not strictly olfactory) of what in my homeland we call ‘café cerrero’ (something similar to Italian espresso, but brewed over wood, among other details)… it also vaguely reminds me of the taste of Campari. When you add too much laurel to a dish, it becomes bitter… I think that’s what I perceive and, as I don’t like bitterness, this fragrance and I haven’t clicked. However, I’ll give it more tests on other skins to see how it smells 🙂 It has prolonged longevity and average sillage. The phase I liked most, without a doubt, is the residual one, when I perceive it much lighter, drier and more vegetal. I think the ideal climate to wear it is when it’s neither too cold nor too hot… in well-ventilated environments, it releases an interesting sillage, very different from those of designer ‘for men’ fragrances, which are sweet, musky and somewhat heavy and abound in the current market. Thanks for the sample, friend <3
