Seeing the bottle photo on Fragrantica leaves you gaping: is it a pistol with a phallic head? Does it shoot rare scents? It’s a strange creative subversive house using tricks to grab attention. I wanted to avoid a remake of the terrifying Secretions Magnifique but Je Suis un Homme starts fresh and relaxed with citrusy orange a soft clove and subtle leather. It’s not a testosterone heavyweight. By the hour the potency and projection drop but it smells good: quality citrus with an animalic touch. In short it smells nice but its soft longevity prevents me from falling in love with it entirely.
Not my style, so it never quite takes me in. Smells like a classic barbershop or aftershave, but with a spicy, leathery twist. The quality feels good; the dry down leaves a pleasant woody and spicy base. Performance isn’t the best: it starts very intense and citrusy, like a bomb, but soon fades and clings to the skin. Longevity is decent, around 6-8 hours, but the projection is soft, more so than usual for an EDP of this type. Sometimes reminds me of certain Tom Ford fougères, though it’s not one in itself. I see it as more masculine and aimed at a specific audience. Within that group, I think it’s versatile because it doesn’t overpower. I’d say it’s more for day than night. It’s not my style and doesn’t quite convince me. It reminds me of a classic barbershop aftershave but with a different spicy and leathery twist. The quality is noticeable and the dry-down leaves a pleasant woody base. The performance isn’t the best: it comes out very intense and citrusy like a bomb but dies down by the hour and stays close to the skin. The longevity is good (6-8 hours) but the projection is soft more so than usual for an EDP. Sometimes it recalls Tom Ford fougères though it’s not one in its own right.
