Rive d’Amber, meaning ‘amber river’, evokes an offering of fruit in an Eastern ritual. At first, it smells of fizzing orange soda, as refreshing as a lemonade on a summer’s day, though sometimes it feels like you’ve just splashed a soft drink on yourself. The lemon shines at the start, then amber takes over, subtly and hidden behind the bitter orange. By the way, it’s no longer in production. I would have preferred they discontinued Sole di Positano and Fleur de Portofino instead. Over time it becomes almost imperceptible, yet it lingers with a cleanliness, like clothes straight from the tumble dryer. If you apply it over Escentric Molecules’ Molecule 01, its longevity improves significantly, as that fixative is top quality.
