  It smells very similar to Givenchy Gentleman Only: woody with lots of musk and a synthetic citrus note, although this has a very light trail of oud that makes it darker and denser. Its performance is slightly better than the Givenchy, which is weak, but still scarce. In my view, it’s not worth the price difference unless you’re obsessed with oud, although there isn’t a very prominent oud either.

  @RAUL, I’m going to try the Wood Infusion decant again and compare it with the Givenchy, as I think I previously compared it with a Kenneth Cole. The conclusion is the same as yours: too much money for little performance, when there are designer brands at two-thirds or three-quarters of the price.

  I’m a complete Goldfield & Banks fan and have bought almost their entire range, with only three missing. This Wood Infusion smells nice, but I feel it shouldn’t be in their main catalogue. It’s very woody with a liquorish and sweet note on the skin, then iris and amber emerge in the dry down, targeting an older, very masculine audience with poor longevity. For me, G&B is fresh, vibrant, exotic and mischievous, whereas this is the opposite: monotonous, sober and boring. The bottle isn’t bad and it doesn’t smell terrible, but it’s not worth paying so much for something so dull.
