Upon spraying, I thought it was a brutal, strident leather bomb that I disliked. I don’t know what’s wrong with this house; almost none of their scents take my fancy at first, seeming like a piercing chaos. But within two minutes, it softens, revealing the star ingredient: soft, aromatic lavender, with a spicy nuance and prominent yet creamy, well-balanced leather. Finally, I like it. Longevity is over 8 hours with high projection for the first 2-3 hours before fading. Suitable for many occasions, though not for intense heat. I adore lavender and leather in certain fragrances, so I was hoping to buy it. While I appreciate it, I see it as more masculine than feminine. I don’t enjoy wearing it myself, so I’ll share the sample with my partner to see what they think.
A fantastic new release from G&B. It’s a fine, soft, treated leather reminiscent of Indompté. The opening beautifully blends leather and lavender with crystal clarity. A perfectly balanced scent; I don’t detect any oud or civet on my nose, though I suppose they add depth. It shares similarities with Silky Wood, its younger sibling, but this is a more mature, elegant, and improved version. Lasts 8 to 10 hours without issue. 9/10.
At first, it smells classic, masculine, and very 90s, with lots of lavender. Then, a blend of apple and tobacco emerges with a slightly sweet vanilla base. I believe the tobacco is a combination of oud and suede. I liked it a lot: it’s apple/tobacco/vanilla, with a classic opening and a dry-down similar to Silky Woods. It could be a Parfums de Marly for that sweet apple and designer touch. Very good, more fruity in the middle and bright at the start.
What has G&B achieved with this purple concept? It’s dry leather, a known archetype, but only the beginning of a fantastic combination. Within minutes, the purple reveals itself: warm, sweet plum with a touch of civet, accompanying a more structured leather that becomes the star rather than the protagonist. An incredible representation. The dry-down is fruity, warm, and sweet. For me, it’s an 8/10, a very good proposal, although my favourite remains Silky Woods.
First time posting a review and it already deserves it: Purple Suede is pure leather, reminiscent of Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather. It opens with a strong note of lavender and leather, which explains the name. As it dries, woody and tobacco notes emerge with a hint of vanilla, making it ideal for close wear. The trail and longevity are impeccable. It’s not for leather beginners as the leather dominates throughout and can be overwhelming, but if you love the accord like I do, it’s a must-have in your collection.
