The fragrance of the month. More than sandalwood, this is about rose and saffron. A very clean, discreetly elegant, beautiful and crystal-clear scent. Unisex.
I have a decant and the rose opens very powerfully; at first it smells very feminine, almost old-school, but as it dries down it becomes unisex and powdery. I thought it would be more woody, obviously given the name. I didn’t pay much attention to the trail, which isn’t bad, but the longevity is excellent, easily lasting eight hours. I’ll keep testing it to see how it develops.
No one had mentioned it, so I’ll update: I managed to get a new 100ml bottle and noticed the cap is dark brown with an orange label. I applied it immediately, and although the DNA is clear, it smells more floral and powdery than the decant I already had, which I compared instantly. I couldn’t help but think there might have been a reformulation. The decant was more woody, richer, deeper, spicier, less dusty, and had better projection and longevity. I contacted Goldfield & Banks, and they confirmed yes, they did reformulate it. The new formula features a wooden gold cap with a white label, and to my nose, it’s vastly superior. I believe this version could be the INTENSE edition, a term many houses have misused badly in their flankers.
