  Tales of Amber is a blend of fresh and warm, light and dense, sweet and salty. It smells of ambergris and iris. At first, the resinous, sweet labdanum gives it body and balance, with a citrus note that fades quickly. Then comes the creamy iris, almost like makeup, starting powdery and becoming softer, while the ambergris adds that salty, animal side that makes it appealing. It doesn’t evolve much beyond becoming creamier, though it remains airy. Nothing gourmand, no cinnamon or dessert notes despite the vanilla and sweetness. It’s basically a powdery, woody, resinous, and salty iris. Smells fantastic, round, addictive, and very well-balanced. It will surely have hype, although it could be one of those perfumes you either love or hate. On skin, it’s perfect for mild weather, perhaps more for night than day. It doesn’t project too much but leaves a trail. We’ll see if I’ll buy it again and get a bottle; lately, I’ve been loving everything from this house.
