Bottled Absolu by Hugo Boss is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. This creation, launched in 2024, was designed by Annick Menardo and Suzy Le Helley. In its opening, the scent unfolds with incense and leather; the heart reveals patchouli and myrrh; while the base settles on cedar and davana.

Those who claim it resembles Red Tobacco are mad. To me, the opening smells of oud and pepper from Natura, but as it dries down, it transforms into a rich amber with great longevity and sillage. A mature and sophisticated fragrance. Don’t buy blindly; test it first. It’s not for children used to sweet Arabic scents.

  • A deliciously dark fragrance; it’s a proper stunner. While some women haven’t taken to it, I absolutely love it. It’s my go-to winter scent.

  • From my collection of over 40 perfumes, I can say this is in my top three. A real stunner. Elegant, masculine, and with excellent longevity. I bought it recently and I’m already halfway through. It’s quite addictive. The balsamic notes are what really knock me out. If you’re over 30, I’d recommend it. I’m 27 but I have a soft spot for scents like this.

  • Fantastic perfume… powerful opening like anise liqueur, then it settles and the incense takes the lead with that smoky touch, vanilla, myrrh… Very masculine, excellent perfume!

  • My signature perfume. A fascinating blend of notes, multidimensional. Sweet, smoky, woody, caramelised, without being cloying, with a touch of green at the bottom, full of nuances, a fragrance made for paradise. Longevity and projection are titanic.

  • I feel ashamed to praise this gem, for if sales take off, they will surely reformulate it and lose the soul of the potion. To understand it, I first tried Boss Bottled Elixir and there I saw the path. The key is myrrh, which gives it an angelic, monastic, oriental and sweet touch. If Elixir is ancient, dark and sacramental, this is the same but more enclosed, like a nun in the monastery courtyard cutting the patchouli. It is an illuminated purity, sweet and dark at the same time, addictive and suitable for any occasion. At 41 years old, this takes first prize by a wide margin. This smoky roll with ancestral resins is the line to follow in seriousness and good scent, with acceptable projection and longevity. I like all perfumes and one must have variety, but this is the path of the Three Wise Men and their purifying scents (the thurible disinfected the pilgrims). I accept similar recommendations. Best wishes and I hope it generates the same feelings in others. PS: as another says, this is niche quality in a designer bottle, so buy the largest bottle and forget the small ones.

Fantastic perfume. The box says leather, woods and patchouli and it smells exactly like that: a high-quality leather jacket, very woody, for a mature man (+35), elegant, dark and with a sweet touch. It is very potent, lasts a long time and projects massively. Ideal 100% for cold weather and at night. Several girls and friends said it smells delicious, but my girlfriend considers it the least favourite in my collection because it smells like an older man (she compares it to other ‘party and youthful’ perfumes). It has a unique aroma that is generally liked, but it is an adult perfume; I do not recommend it to very young people. I am 25 and I do not find many occasions to use it or combine it with my style.

  • January 2025 batch. A men’s perfume, super masculine; the opening is brutal. The leather and incense combine brilliantly. When I smell it, I think of a tough guy with style, a brown leather jacket, and boots. What disappointed me was the longevity: I had high expectations based on the reviews, but it lasts me about four hours and projects little. I hope it improves with time. (Do not buy blind).

  • It smells like creamy chocolate to me, perhaps due to the patchouli, with a vanilla-like touch from the incense. I don’t detect the leather. It’s very similar to the Hugo Boss Bottled Elixir, but here the patchouli or the chocolatey notes dominate more.

  • Velasco perfumado

It’s a PERFUMAZOOO! Standing ovation for this Hugo Boss launch; they’ve reinvented themselves and delivered almost niche quality. Brutal longevity (12h+), medium-high projection for the first hour, then moderate but with a consistently good sillage. Recommended 100%. I own Red Tobacco, and here it only recalls the patchouli in the heart notes; the rest takes a different path because the HB Bottled Absolu is super balsamic and resinous, whereas Red Tobacco is spicy-resinous; nothing redundant. In fact, I feel the HB Bottled Absolu is more usable and easier to like. Both are 10/10 bombshells. By the way, I have another with strong patchouli: Kenzo Homme EDP, which has a Coca-Cola-style patchouli and is another bomb, though it bears no resemblance to the one in this review. I want to emphasise the differences: HB Bottled Absolu is balsamic-resinous patchouli, Red Tobacco is spicy, and Kenzo Homme EDP is that Coca-Cola patchouli. Sorry for the rambling, haha.

  • If you’re over 35 and looking for a designer scent for autumn-winter, that’s beast mode and different, look no further: Boss Absolu. It smells very similar to Mancera Red Tobacco. It has a dense, balsamic opening of patchouli and leather, leaving a dry-down of woods and tobacco with a chocolatey touch.

  • I’ve had it for a year now, and it deserves a tribute: it’s a Hugo Boss hit. That opening with incense and leather screams that it’s a great perfume; the myrrh gives it more body, and I always notice an undeclared tobacco and an earthy patchouli. The combination is delicious, evolves beautifully, and lasts a long time, gaining sweetness over time. It projects well; it’s for night, but it doesn’t fail at winter lunches. Very masculine, intriguing, and inviting. I love Annick Menardo; her work is always good, and I think she’s one of the greats. Among the Boss scents, I like this one more than the previous Elixir, which, although good, is darker and gets tiring to wear. For 2025, I don’t think it will be as popular; it hasn’t caught my attention, given the year’s lack of spectacular launches and the interesting ones coming at bubble prices. BOSS BOTTLED ABSOLU is a safe bet with its own personality.

I’m standing in front of the mirror; it’s 18:47. The reflection looks at me as if I were someone else. Tonight is the annual gala, a semi-formal event where people try to look important. I wondered what to wear. Two days prior, I was thinking about Bleu de Chanel Le Exclusif or YSL Le Elixir, realising how absurd it is to accumulate fragrances I almost never use. At 18:49, my mind cleared: I choose Boss Bottled Absolu. A bottle that has seen more nights stored away than lived. It smells of incense and myrrh, with a leather base that anchors everything. I love it. I applied it to my neck, hands, and back. The journey lasted an hour, and the perfume merged with my skin as if it had always been there. I arrived at 19:58. A friend greeted me; he didn’t comment on the scent, but that didn’t matter. I joined the group, talking about clothes, promotions, and wine. They praised another’s outfit; I felt no envy and didn’t seek attention. I was looking for someone else with my gaze. She didn’t appear. At 20:42, I saw her. The colleague I once liked, whom I watched from afar last year without the courage to approach. Now we are both single. She was wearing a dark dress and a leather jacket, walking unhurriedly, as if time belonged to her. I found her face-to-face while she was eating, mouth full, but it didn’t bother me. I greeted her, a kiss on the cheek. She smiled, her voice clear and inevitable: “I love your perfume.” Everything stopped. Conversations dissolved, lights blurred. The universe compressed into that phrase. I became aware of every molecule of air between us. I saw how the incense and leather notes rose, ephemeral, to disappear seconds later. I know this won’t last; nothing does. But in this instant, with her gaze crossing mine, I felt something akin to eternity. I realised it wasn’t just any night. It was the exact point where my fragrance, my desire, and my destiny aligned. By 01:16, there was almost nothing left. We were both drunk, looking at each other all night. I asked her to come outside, and she accepted immediately. We kissed in the darkness, away from all eyes. The perfume became part of my identity for the rest of my days. She only gave me one compliment that night, but it was the only one I was looking for.

A winning formula. Incense, leather, and wood combined perfectly. It’s a serious fragrance, one of the best designer scents available today. In a world of sweet smells, this Boss Bottled Absolu goes all out with a hefty dose of leather and smoky woods; it’s not for everyone, but it’s a showstopper. Longevity and sillage are brutal, with several sprays filling the room. The scent and quality are at a niche level (it has some Red Tobacco vibes, but by different paths; this one is simpler) for just 60 euros, making it unbeatable. The myrrh note stands out as uncommon, reminding me of TF’s Myrrhe Mystère. Another Hugo Boss triumph, which I believe ranks among the best recent commercial brands alongside Guerlain and Issey Miyake. It competes with the Elixir version, which follows a similar path: the Elixir lacks leather and incense, leaning more towards spice and usability. Try both and decide.

  • This time, it wasn’t a blind buy. Every time I tested it on my skin, it didn’t convince me, until it seemed overwhelming. But I took the plunge, and a miracle happened. Not in a quick test, but after a long, perfumed day, which is how I usually am. Now I truly see it: it’s a beast. From 7 am until 9 pm, it fought a worthy battle. A serious fragrance, yet it generated great acceptance at work. Now I understand the huge hype. Despite initial doubts, it has been a total success.

  • Finally, I got my hands on it, and it caught me by surprise: it has an incredible sweet touch, with top-notch longevity and sillage. It’s not a blind buy, but definitely worth the investment because it’s unique and never disappoints. Wear it with confidence and personality, and you’ll pull it off perfectly. 9/10.

  • The best I’ve tried in 2025. A captivating aroma that blends myrrh and patchouli with woods and a sweet base, topped with a refined leather that smells like suede. I find it sensual and elegant. The potency is sublime and the performance is nuclear: three sprays last all day and linger on clothes for days. Just don’t overdo it, or you’ll suffocate yourself; less is more. An absolute 10. In terms of quality and scent, it outshines designer fragrances and holds its own alongside niche perfumes.

  • Surprising. By the notes it might scare many people, but that is where the magic lies. The myrrh gives it the sweetness it lacked if it were bitter, and it balances perfectly between masculinity and sensuality. 9/10. Although I am young, I find it somewhat mature and difficult to wear, but it is worth using on a good occasion. I have not tested longevity or projection.

  • I am sure you have seen at some point on a winter night a brown-skinned man of prudent stature, well-dressed, with effortless elegance, straight posture, almost military. Do you remember the Hugo Boss campaign from the 90s? Boss Bottled Absolu describes it perfectly. One could compare it to a ‘Chad’, almost perfect. A serene, observant man with more confidence than a monarch. This year it has special relevance, it is talked about a lot, it has fame in design and niche, attention, charisma and a potent, sweet personality. This fragrance does honour to what Hugo Boss was and still is. Because it is simple: style never goes out of fashion.

  • It smells sweet and of leather, but above all it reminds me of the scent of a garden on a rainy or misty day, with resinous trees permeating the atmosphere. It is that, but sweeter and more balsamic. Absolute stinker, plus it projects and lasts quite a while.

  • First off… it is exactly what I was missing and has finally arrived for designers, so I am happy with the purchase. The leather is ‘kind’ and dissipates quickly after application. It is super resinous and that dark note is balanced by a balsamic sweetness, not gourmand, which makes it wearable. But beware buying blind: it has high quality and good performance, but it can be so balsamic it might seem like an ointment. Does it smell good? Yes. Is there quality? Plenty. No plastic sensation. Performance? Optimal, noticeable and long-lasting. Is the price outrageous? No, for the quality offered, it is fair. Sincerely, I miss a bit more; it lacks certain charm to be the bomb it could be. Zero versatility: winter, night, and outdoors only. Some might find it smells like ointment or like you’ve just come from church. It’s not for picking up people or mass appeal, but it is memorable and makes you stand out without offending. I don’t think it will become ubiquitous. I like it (perhaps too much). Scent: 8, Projection: 8, Longevity: 8.5

  • The first impression was ‘it reminds me of a perfume’ and then I realised it was Dior’s Animal, only for the first few minutes due to that honey scent. From there on, it changes to a darker, more masculine tone.

  • The olfactory pyramid describes it perfectly: rich, good, potent, projects, imposing and masculine, but it suffers from being generic. It is very sweet and resinous. If you are looking for a winter perfume, this would be my first choice, but it has nothing to differentiate it from current trends. If you want something potent, invasive, sweet that screams ‘here I am’ and drills into the memory, this is ideal. Maybe I’ll buy it, maybe not… it lacks charm, it’s not what I’m looking for and I wouldn’t recommend it, but I have no serious criticism. The leather is a support, adding sweetness but not noticeable at first. The incense is there. The myrrh, although I’ve never smelled it exactly like this, I identify it here. The patchouli, cedar and davana are also present, the davana less so, perhaps 50%. If you are starting your collection, it is excellent for winter nights or events. If you already have more than 20 perfumes, I would go for something with more personality.

  • They gave me a sample with a purchase. I already had it bookmarked for the notes and dove headfirst into this men’s fragrance. But… there is nothing of the promised men’s bomb. This is just another overly sweet perfume. The wildness promised by the notes is absent; everything is domesticated, leaning towards creamy and clean, without any dirt. The patchouli has nothing earthy, the incense only gives an insignificant smoky touch and there is no animal quality in that leather. It’s more like the leather of a lady’s handbag who carries a sweet perfume sprayer. In short, another perfume that smells just like everyone else’s currently. Not for me.

  • Perfumista choro🔥🥷

Absolute stinker. To those who say it smells like Elixir, I recommend comparing them properly and not just on the first impression. You need to analyse them thoroughly.

  • I was genuinely surprised to find this named Fragrance of the Year 2025. It doesn’t mean it isn’t deserving, but simply that it hasn’t become quite as saturated yet. It feels like if Elixir is Side A, this is Side B of the same family. It opens with sweet, smoky, earthy leather, with a hint of cherry at the very start, reminiscent of Mancera’s Tobacco, before the incense really comes through. That blend of cherry and incense is simply not to my taste, which is why I prefer Elixir over this Absolu. Then it evolves into something similar to Elixir but with more smoky leather. The longevity is on another level: over 10 hours, it’s eternal on clothes. Both last well, but this Absolu projects much stronger. It’s a winter and night-out scent; in an office during spring, it would be overwhelming. Well done to brands like Hugo Boss and Kenzo for taking risks and offering affordable, challenging options that last. Salute to these pioneers against today’s diluted waters. Well deserved user award!

  • Incredible. It has nuclear performance. I applied it at 18:00 and now it’s 12:00 the next day and it still smells, with just two sprays, which is madness. For the first six hours, it projects massively, noticeable indoors and outdoors. It seems like it would be super strong and it is, but everything is perfectly balanced. It has a rich, balsamic sweetness. If you are looking for something very masculine with off-the-charts performance, this is your perfume. 100/10

  • Alvarojmnzzz

Bottled Absolu seems to be one of the best Hugo Boss has released in years. It’s a very well-constructed, elegant and high-quality perfume, ideal for autumn and winter. It has a warm and enveloping scent, with a perfect balance between sweetness and wood that is addictive without being heavy. What I highlight most is how easy it is to wear and how well it works in almost any context: office, quiet plans or night outings. It feels masculine, sophisticated and present, but without being invasive. In terms of performance, it delivers more than enough: very good longevity and an elegant projection, the kind that makes you smell good without saturating. It’s one of those perfumes that gives a sense of ‘good taste’ and that you feel like using a lot in cold weather. For me, a safe purchase and one of the best options within current designer brands.

  • Yezzus_Fragantica

I love the scent of this perfume; it’s ideal for cold climates and has high quality, one of the best perfumes in my collection, great longevity and ideal for dates or special events.

  • Aka_Kaiser22

I’ve been a fan of the BOSS line since forever. I think it’s a solid, elegant and reliable line, although it’s true they’ve always had problems with longevity and have been on a desert journey for years… From The Scent Absolute to the Elixir, nothing has been differentiating and they’ve stringed together several failed launches that didn’t meet expectations (Magnetic, Night, Beyond…) until now. Well-deserved Fragrance of the Year 2025 award. It’s a masterpiece from start to finish. It breaks the durability curse that preceded it and breaks with the manic sweetness characteristic of the line. Similar to its little sister, the Elixir, but this one gives it a punch of more masculine and interesting leather. It’s elegant, intoxicating and potent. Longevity is endless and the trail is diabolical. On sturdy clothes almost two days. It has the mystery of incense, the masculinity of leather and the depth of wood. That said, it’s clearly a +30 fragrance and not a blind buy. As for versatility, it’s not a panacea; it’s an autumn-winter fragrance and eminently for formal evening events, although on cloudy, windy and rainy days, personally it has worked very well for me as it’s a very dense and resinous perfume. It has been my clear signature fragrance for this autumn and will be for the next. An essential and recurring purchase to restock in the collection over and over again.

  • On Skin Parfums

Hello, I bought this Hugo Boss Absolu last time in 2025 for around £50 for 100ml in an online store, taking advantage of an offer. In other words, I found it at a very good price. My rating matches what the fragrance and its price are, although I’ll advance that it’s very positive. The scent is, to my taste, very rich: masculine, dark and mysterious. The notes of incense and myrrh stand out, with a patchouli that adds an earthy, warm and slightly sweet/aromatic blend. You know that patchouli can change the character a lot, so I clarify how it’s perceived here. On my skin (dry) it lasts around 7 hours; on clothes, easily all day. It has a perceptible trail, so be careful with the sprays, as during the first hour it can result in something overwhelming. From the third hour onwards it becomes lighter, but it remains clearly perceptible. Curiously, and I know many of you care, regarding compliments I’ve received several from women. That said, I also have a friend who can’t stand it when I wear it. To each their own. Without a doubt, I would buy it again. Best regards.

  • I love this perfume; it smells of leather but the opening has a very special bitter note that disappears in the dry down, which smells like super rich and sexy leather. It almost feels like a niche fragrance, and you have to consider that the price is great. One of my favourites from the collection.

  • Julianqvvv

I’ll start by saying this is my absolute favourite from the collection due to its brutal evolution. Let’s address the elephant in the room: at first, it smells synthetic with a stinging alcohol. Then, a very natural, animalic leather emerges which is initially alarming, but the incense saves it in an exquisite blend. It’s a pity the heart phase passes quickly; I’d love to enjoy that contrast between the leather and the hidden sweetness that accompanies the dry down, those woody and earthy accords. It’s not versatile; it shines in the cold and for the evening, without needing formal events. It’s coquettish, perfect for dates. It’s not a simple scent for everyone, but women adore it and it’s a whole olfactory experience (which is what I like most). It’s not a beast, although its performance is outstanding for a designer brand, especially BOSS. Beware of white clothes; it can stain if applied too close. Scent 9, evolution 10 (one of the best from designer brands today) and longevity 7 (don’t expect 4 sprays to last). My favourite fragrance so far.

  • gonzalezvertiz

What’s there to say that hasn’t been said? It has a polarising and strong opening (from a distance it smells like acetone for removing nail polish, but those who know it understand it’s worth the wait) and then dries down to a perfect blend of amber-balsam with smoky wood and leather. Exquisite, mature, masculine and modern. It’s not for the day; it gives off a lumberjack shirt, beard and heavy motorcycle vibe. High quality. Ideal for night outings and cool weather. If you have a date, apply it half an hour before; my partner hates the opening but loves the dry down and doesn’t realise it’s the same perfume. Performance is very good: opening and first three hours are strong but not suffocating, lasting 6 to 8 hours before fading to skin scent. It’s not a beast that leaves you stuck the next day, but I’m satisfied. It’s for not going unnoticed. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • costabrava23

If we’re talking about BEST MODE, this is the clear example. It lasts, projects massively and fills spaces; if you overdo the sprays it can be overwhelming. It smells like campfire smoke on the mountain, earthy, with incense and burnt sugar; I can’t find the stated leather anywhere. Not very versatile; in cold climates it’s mandatory and with dark clothing it’s for the night, but it also works for grey mornings and windy days. If you’re under 27, believe me, it’s not for you; if you’re 5’5″ (165cm), even if you love it, it might not suit you. You need to know how to wear it: it’s a fragrance with immense charisma because it’s not rough, not purely masculine (even some women pull it off), it’s more imposing, very loud but without the intention of seeking attention or approval from anyone. A perfume without doubt, never buy blindly, you must try it.

  • I’m conflicted about this perfume. I love it; in fact, I personally adore it, but it is definitely too mature for me. I do love myrisrr notes.
