Descripción
Boss The Scent by Hugo Boss is a spicy aromatic fragrance for men. Launched in 2015, this composition was created by Bruno Jovanovic and Pascal Gaurin. The top notes unfold with ginger, mandarin, and bergamot; the heart reveals maninka and lavender; and the base settles on leather and woody notes.

Has anyone heard of the maninka? I don’t understand how it’s the fruit most perceived in the votes. If I’m sure that not 10% of the forum users know it, as it’s a lost fruit from Africa, I don’t think they know it naturally, let alone as a note. This smells to me like a tobacco-like, slightly fruity and fairly generic scent, which is the mecca of boredom. Performance and trail are quite precarious. Passing on.
This is my most recent acquisition. I’ve read the reviews so far and think it’s not as bad as it seems. It’s a pleasant fragrance with a good opening and comfortable to wear, fresh, clean and with good personality. Yes, you have to apply it generously but not abundantly. I see some uses: going out for a drink with friends on cool nights. It’s a good scent for everyday office wear and can also be used by a cigar or pipe smoker; the combination could be very good. The price isn’t taaaan high as to not be worth trying. Give it a chance.
I tried it and liked it quite a bit. I also tried the Private Accord version but found it too cloying. This one is a bit sweet but has other notes. The price isn’t bad either. On my skin, the longevity is quite weak. It reminds me a bit of Armani Code, though with less style. Longevity: 5/10, Projection: 6/10, Aroma: 6-7/10.
I love this fragrance; I consider it sweet, sexy and pleasant, nothing invasive. I say this from experience. It has good longevity, considering there are more expensive perfumes with less performance. I use it on cold days and nights with very good results.
I bought this fragrance on an offer that included it with the Bottled Normal for a gift. Smelling it, in the opening it seems identical to Coach Men, although in the dry down Coach wins on longevity, projection, and evolution. Very linear, nothing novel, generic and expensive for what it offers. I’m not saying it’s a bad perfume, just suggesting that if you like the scent, go for Coach instead of this one.
I bought it in August; reviews say it’s for autumn and winter and that they believe… UFF. I loved the aroma, put it on immediately after showering, and it lasted six to eight hours. Given the comments I’ve seen, it’s nothing like that on my skin. Remember not everyone has the same pH, and certain perfumes don’t suit everyone. Personally, it’s the first HUGO BOSS to enter my repertoire. Very rich, woody with that mandarin touch. The best part: a cousin of mine enters the house saying ‘you have the little orange’, I go into my room, and it smells immediately. We’ll see over time; it’s already in my collection.
Pleasant and very elegant aroma with aphrodisiac touches. Masculine. Good longevity without great projection (which is what I’m looking for), but the trail is adequate. Present and attractive at close range. The value for money is excellent. It’s great news because it doesn’t disappoint. I’ve been let down by some niche scents; I no longer spend more on fragrances that are like designer ones, or on designers that don’t last. They can fool me once, but after that, it’s over. My rating is very good; a great option. We’ll see if it stays among the best over time.
A good fragrance, pleasant, fruity and ambered, sweet like many on the market. Nothing extraordinary, with just right longevity and a nice bottle that isn’t memorable. It will certainly earn compliments, of course. It’s what some people are looking for; I’m seeking something more, so it won’t be repeated in my collection.
How well this Hugo Boss smells, although unfortunately it lasts only five hours and the trail is very faint. Fortunately, I found a tester discarded at a bargain price. Perhaps it performs better in summer.
I’ll keep it brief: a pleasant, sweet, fruity fragrance with well-crafted synthetic leather. It doesn’t smell cheap and is made to please everyone. It’s a sweet masculine scent, linear, ideal for any style and better suited for daytime. The trail is weak and lacks a nocturnal presence, but it generates optimism. It’s a decent fragrance for leaving a young, cordial masculine impression. Perfect for gifting; it’s sure to be liked.
Honestly, I think it’s an undervalued perfume. I’ve always had good results: it smells very good on skin, the longevity is correct, and the sweetness suits it well. It’s attractive for all day and I would recommend it without doubt. The problem is the price; it’s somewhat expensive for what it is; today it’s around £45 for 100ml, which seems excessive to me. But for the scent and final result, very good.
After testing this Boss The Scent EDT, I bought a 100ml bottle because I’m a fan of the brand. Hugo Boss fragrances usually have longevity issues, but this has pleasantly surprised me: it smells very good and lasts 8 hours on my skin, with the first two hours projecting well. It’s not invasive, although if you overdo the sprays or use it in summer, it will tire your nose. I think it’s for autumn and winter. Very happy with the purchase.
Hugo Boss The Scent is sweet at first and becomes stronger as it dries due to the leather; in my view, it’s for mature people from 30 years onwards. Ideal for the office with a good presentation. It’s not bad, but its longevity is scarce. There are better options for the price, though it could be good as a gift.
Semi-sweet, the typical one you sometimes hate and other times fall in love with again. Sometimes that monotonous tone bores me and I’d expect more, but I like it for being sophisticated with a touch of pepper and leather, yet clean. Very versatile. It’s undervalued, interesting, not a work of art but very good as a reserve when you don’t want to wear your top perfumes.
To me, it’s very sweet; upon testing, I thought of alcoholic caramel, with the leather very far away. It’s simple and noble, perfect for a cold day; its weight doesn’t stand out in evening settings. I see it as practical for generating warmth and that image of someone reliable. It reminds me of Original Penguin For Men; they share DNA, the difference is the price, but they are similar in quality.
I always test on blotter paper and the back of my hand as it varies. At first, it’s a very pleasant orange and ginger, but it dissipates and an intense leather scent emerges that literally overwhelms me. I love it; it’s now one of my favourites. Although I prefer a German supermarket clone that smells better, lasts the same, and costs five times less. I buy 100ml every two months.
VERY INTERESTING: The sweet, fruity masculine notes dominate; nothing unisex, with woody, leather, and a subtle citrus undertone. I liked it in temperate climates; although it recalls others, it has its own sparkle. Lasts 7 hours with good projection; people told me it smelled delicious even on themselves. Fair price, though it would be fabulous if it were cheaper. Filled: 10, Longevity: 8, Projection: 9, Price: 8. TOTAL: 9.
Smells interesting when first applied, but otherwise it has nothing special about it. I definitely wouldn’t buy it if I had other options. Sorry, Hugo Boss, this time it wasn’t outstanding.
It puts the leather in the foreground with a bitter citrus touch at first. The dry-down isn’t smooth, and the sad part is that it projects for 30 minutes and then becomes skin-scent for hours. It doesn’t last at all for what it costs. I’ve been recommended the Intense version; I’ll try it and let you know.
You can detect leather and citrus, a sweet and elegant blend ideal for formal events and men over 25. The downside is that it lasts very little; it fades in one or two hours and you only smell it if you press your nose against your clothes. Use it only when you absolutely need it, not hours before heading out.
An acidic and sparkling opening from an explosion of ginger with tangerine and bergamot citrus. After a few minutes, the citrus fades and the aphrodisiac mangosteen fruit enters, invading the scent, a fruity sensation with a slight alcoholic note, wrapped in jasmine. Once the heart phase passes, it is like a different fragrance thanks to its excellent performance. Leather appears suddenly and lasts until the end, soft and sweet from the mangosteen, with a faint layer of woods. Very tasty and well accepted. Usable for any occasion except sport and any weather except very hot days. The only drawback is the performance; it leaves much to be desired, offers nothing new, is very classic, timid, and simple.
It is a rehash of all the Boss Bottled flankers and another generic One Million. No ginger, no vetiver, no exotic fruit, just super sweet lavender and vanilla. Made without creativity like the rest of the line. If the Bottled was already mediocre, its flankers are even worse. END.
I bought it blind and loved it: it lasted 4 hours projecting with a large trail. I won’t harp on this too much. The citrus and mangosteen work well together, a rich bittersweet touch. When the leather kicks in, it’s another level, powdery and blended too. It lasted quite a while with a huge trail (for those who care). I liked it so much it has a special place now. I dared to buy it without knowing it because I found 200ml at a bargain price, what a surprise. I use it on fresh days and I love it.
I don’t know the mangosteen, so I imagine it is the ‘different’ thing that smells here. An energetic opening of citrus and ginger sweetened by that mysterious fruit. It evolves into something woody and sweet due to the mangosteen. Very rich. Some complain of poor longevity, but on my skin it has decent performance: between 6 and 9 hours depending on the day. I apply 5-6 sprays, the last two on the collarbones. I see it for any weather, though I wouldn’t use it in extreme cold. A good option for everyday wear.
As a rule, sweet scents go into the bag for dates and rarely to this one. It is peculiar because the mangosteen dominates from start to finish. It seems like an orange marmalade with the mangosteen and something else that rounds it off, leather or wood. I recommend it for fresh days; many ask for it for Christmas. It is a pleasant aroma with a longevity we are used to.
Tested from a decant, the Hugo Boss scents always play it safe with masculine essences that work. The Scent is the same: a citrus and lavender opening that reminds me of my beloved Armani Code Profumo, followed by leather and woods. It is an eau de toilette with moderate projection for half an hour, then skin scent for 4-5 hours. Typical evening and formal wear. It can be used during the day, but for me it feels heavy; I prefer citrus or marine scents in summer. Once dried, it becomes sweet and the lavender stands out. If you are looking for something close, dense, and seductive, it is a good option. It competes with Versace Eros or One Million. It is not original, but it does not disappoint and women like it.
I keep it with affection because I wore it to my wedding. To many it may seem generic, but it was a gift from my godfather, so it has sentimental value. I see it as perfect for going out at night, in clubs where sweet notes (vanilla, caramel) abound, because its citrus and lavender provide freshness without losing depth thanks to the leather, which becomes sweet with the fruits.
I was given a sample today at a perfumerie and the aroma is exquisite. However, after 40 minutes, I could smell nothing. What a pity.
Nice scent but generic, nothing spectacular. The opening is good, but once it dries down, there’s something I don’t like—a sweetness that feels excessive. Perhaps it is the mangosteen. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last long. I recommend it without blind buying: ideal for autumn and evening wear. I’d give it a 7/10.
I work in import and was gifted this for my birthday. It smells fantastic; it’s a strange sweetness, presumably from the mangosteen, but the longevity is a real shame. It barely lasts two hours, which is disappointing for a Boss fragrance. The Elixir does last, but this one vanishes in a breath.
Spicy, citrusy, fresh, aromatic opening. No evolution. Masculine character, clean (not soapy, aromatic), already smelled once or a thousand times. Generic. That doesn’t take away that it’s a quality fragrance. Safe option, with presence. Once it dries, it disappears shortly after. Scarce duration.
I got to know this fragrance through the female version Boss The Scent For Her Absolute. In my ignorance about the world of fragrances, I thought it was for men and decided to order it through my family, who always get better prices at duty-free shops in airports. I just sent them a picture and mentioned I was looking for that delicious fragrance with a honey and peach opening, coffee heart, and vanilla base. A perfect combination, I thought! When my family arrived, I was surprised to see it was a different version, and that was when I understood it was the masculine one. It was a blind purchase, but, to my surprise, when I smelled it, I loved it. Boss The Scent turned out to be a sophisticated, spicy, and extremely attractive fragrance that earned a special place in my collection. Its blend of ginger, tangerine, and bergamot in the top notes, along with maninka and lavender in the heart, and leather combined with woody notes in the base, makes it an irresistible choice. My final rating is 7.8/10.
It smells good, nothing fabulous. It’s a mature, somewhat formal aroma. Moderate trail. I don’t feel it’s sweet as others mention. I bought it in a set taking advantage of a good discount. When applied, it feels quite strong, but after two hours (or less) it disappears. It lasts a sigh. I applied it to go to the cinema, and when I left the movie, I couldn’t smell anything.
I bought a kit on offer at a perfume shop in a shopping centre in Buenos Aires two years ago. Actually, I didn’t buy it; they effectively sold it to me. I took all this time to write my opinion because I considered I should give it a chance with time, as what I got in the bottle when using it at home was very far from the sensation it produced in the salon sample. Since I felt I had fallen for an “offer” that was very expensive for my wallet (the one I had to pay in instalments), I confess that my initial relationship with the product was one of anger: it was very far from what I had paid for in terms of money and expectations. However, now, two years later, in this Buenos Aires autumn, I am giving it the chance I didn’t give it then. And yes, it’s an exquisite fragrance. Very elegant. Of those that can look good always. For gala views or jeans to go shopping. An exquisite lavender is what I notice most in the opening, nuanced with ginger that gives it a little spice, and a spiced/woody cushion. From all that mixture, it brings me to mind a certain apple scent, although it’s not declared. The point where my anger continues is the scarce performance. It lasts very little on me, even on the skin level. Summary: a nice product, in the typical elegant Boss-style bottle, but whose sensation is like watching a trailer for a Hollywood blockbuster: it fills you with expectations, you enjoy it immensely, but it lasts three minutes.
I use it because they gave it to me for Christmas; honestly, I had bad faith about it. Before using it, I went to a department store to try it and see if I liked the scent; if not, I would have sold it. I must say I was surprised because it smells different from the common stuff, perhaps due to the maninka note, and I didn’t dislike the fragrance. It’s something I don’t commonly use, but it smells elegant, like a formal and serious man, type CEO or executive, to wear with a shirt and trousers, a suit, in the office, for a business meeting, or a formal event. Being woody, I recommend it for cold or fresh climates like Autumn-Winter. It can be used during the day, but I see better performance at night. Definitely not a casual fragrance nor suitable for all noses, especially young people like me; however, it didn’t disgust me, I like the “mysterious and different” aroma, strong but not annoying. Yes, it’s discreet, it doesn’t project much and the trail is low, but the scent on the skin lasts quite a while. Advice: don’t buy blindly; it can cause a bad impression.
It’s a magical fragrance that has already become part of my essence. Several times my friends have asked me about the perfume I’m wearing because it makes a difference and stays imprinted on people’s olfactory memory. Many thanks to the artists who tried to create it with so much magic ❤️.
A more serious and sophisticated aroma, nothing extravagant. In my opinion, it conveys character and decision; I use it for work meetings. To my taste, I don’t recommend it in the heat.
Sorry, it’s formal, elegant, and delicious, perfect for formal events. You can smell the maninka and leather combined with the tangerine and bergamot citrus. Since I tried it, it was going well, but shortly afterwards I felt an irritation in my throat, so it must be that this fragrance affects me, and I stopped using it.
It’s an excellent and reliable fragrance; I recommend that every man has it in his collection. It’s totally versatile; it will never let you look bad, day or night. You can wear it on a date, to a formal event, or even to the office. In the opening, the blend of bergamot and ginger makes it addictive—you’ll want to get many compliments. It gives that citrus scent with a spicy and warm nuance that grants it notable presence. It feels clean yet sophisticated and elegant; it mixes the best of both worlds. It requires about six or seven well-placed sprays to take the prominence it deserves. Summary: elegance + versatility + warmth.
It’s not the type to shout. If you bought Boss The Scent for the scent itself, simply reapply. If you’re looking for power, this isn’t for you. What it does have is versatility: it works for everyday wear, even in summer, and suits any age. It doesn’t seek the spotlight; it simply accompanies discreetly. The opening smells like Bad Boy; that old-gingerbread-like cacao comes from maninka, an African fruit that gives an exotic sweetness with an earthy touch. In this formula, it passes quickly, which can be a relief if you don’t like it. The citrus is there, but briefly. What remains is a shy lavender, almost decorative, that doesn’t compete. The dry-down is the best part: leather appears, soft and non-aggressive, with light woods. There’s no dramatic evolution, but rather a transition towards something warmer and more intimate. It’s perfect for dates: it doesn’t overwhelm, but leaves a warm, close impression. It accompanies, it doesn’t define. I’d give it a 7/10. Buy without high expectations, but with pleasant results if you know what you’re looking for.
