Descripción
Boss The Scent Private Accord by Hugo Boss is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2018, this composition was created by Bruno Jovanovic. Its top notes of ginger and bergamot open the olfactory pyramid; the heart reveals a combination of maninka, coffee, pepper, and pineapple; while the base settles on cacao, woody notes, vanilla, patchouli, Amberwood, and benzoin.

My goodness, how much I liked it… I didn’t expect anything like this. What a sensual and edible fragrance for a man! You get the urge to take a good bite! It’s super cosy and embracing, smelling of cocoa and vanilla, but over time it becomes more woody and soft. It’s a sophisticated, edible gourmand. I imagine a man in a cashmere jumper in a luxurious Alpine chalet, by the fire, sitting happily in his armchair with friends and family, drinking hot chocolate with cream in the middle of Christmas. Those who dislike cocoa or sweetness should abstain. It’s a perfect Christmas gift because it evokes those festive parties with their spiced and dessert scents. A perfect autumn and winter fragrance. I don’t see a specific age range for it.
I haven’t bought it yet, but I’ve tested it a couple of times and it seems like a must-buy. It’s very good and has excellent performance in both longevity and sillage. Plus, it has a rich chocolate aroma that isn’t cloyingly sweet and smells very masculine.
A lot of hype for nothing. Alongside Azzaro Wanted Night, this has been the biggest disappointment of the year. This usually happens when you expect too much, try it, and it turns out to be a rip-off. I own several Hugo Boss fragrances, including the original Scent, which are superior in every aspect. My advice: test it and don’t buy blindly; asking over 50 euros is very bold. The opening is good, warm and gourmand, but the potency drops incredibly fast; after an hour, it’s just a memory. There are much better options at similar prices, such as the entire Ferragamo Uomo line, Spicebomb or 1 Million Lucky. Absolutely forgettable in my case.
I was in a shop looking for a t-shirt when they sprayed this on a blotter. At first, I liked it, put it in my pocket and left. Two hours later, it was still smelling great and I loved how it evolved; even my office colleagues gave me positive feedback. The deal was sealed that night when my wife told me she adored it. I went to buy it the next day. Although we sometimes buy what we like (and sometimes just for ourselves, haha), I think you need a scent that matches your image and earns compliments. The cocoa notes fade quickly, but the coffee lasts about three hours. The wood and pepper blend well with the coffee, highlighting some citrus touches. Projection is moderate to low, lasting around 5 to 6 hours on skin. I recommend it for men over 35, in humid or cold mid-season weather, especially for romantic types, because women definitely give you a longer hug with this scent.
Okay, it smells good, good fixation, but we are not getting anywhere new. Boss The Scent has so many variants: one has something, another takes it away, another is EDT, another EDP, another concentrated, another Autograph, etc., spinning in circles. Even the bottle changes little. If you try all the variants: Intense, Private, EDP, EDT, Collection, Concentré, etc., and do not see much change in the aroma. Is it that they stretch the mass to the maximum to make money and do not care about non-ignorant consumers? Stop treating the consumer as a fool.
I like The Scent Private Accord, both this version and the Parfum Edition seem better than the original, although they maintain common characteristics. This version is less sweet, a bit bitter, but keeps the marmalade, which provides the common fruitiness to all. It starts fruity with bitter and warm notes, perhaps cocoa, coffee, and ginger. It has a slight gourmand sensation, without being cloying. Over time, coffee and cocoa decrease, while woody notes, patchouli, and vanilla increase, but that fruitiness is always present. It reminds me of a warm sweater, hot chocolate near a fireplace. Suitable for autumn, winter, and some spring. Wide age range, seems more mature than the first version or the Intense due to the bitter and woody notes. I liked it very much; I do not know exactly why, but it puts me in a good mood. I liked the Parfum Edition more for the aroma (leather and iris), but its performance is disappointing and it is hard to find; this Private Accord approaches that aroma and seems to last longer on the market. Despite loving it, I do not recommend buying it blind, but I do recommend trying it. Finally, what one likes, another rejects.
I liked The Scent Private Accord; both this version and the Parfum Edition seemed better than the original, though they share common elements. This version felt less sweet, slightly bitter, yet it still retains the maninka note, which seems to give that fruity touch to all versions. It starts fruity but with bitter and warm notes, perhaps a hint of cocoa, coffee and ginger. It has a slight gourmand sensation but isn’t cloying (at least for me). Over time, the coffee and cocoa notes fade in intensity while the woody notes rise, a bit of patchouli and vanilla, but that fruity touch remains ever-present. It makes me think of someone in a warm sweater drinking hot chocolate near a fireplace. I think it’s appropriate for autumn, winter and a bit of spring. Suitable for a wide age range, though it may appear slightly more mature than the first version or the Intense due to the bitter and woody notes. I really liked the aroma; I don’t know exactly why, but it puts me in a good mood. I liked the Parfum Edition more for its leather and iris scent, but its performance was disappointing and it’s hard to find; however, the Private Accord comes close to that aroma and seems likely to last longer in the market. Despite loving it, I don’t recommend buying it blindly, but do try it. In the end, what one person likes another may reject, or vice versa.
Perfumes from this house (though I have tried few) usually seem lacking in quality to me. This one had good reviews so I felt like trying it. Unfortunately, I cannot support them. It is an ill-defined scent, with good longevity but always low-key, a bit artificial, and below others in the segment with cocoa/coffee like Uomo Signature or Man Black Essence.
I acquired it today; all signs point to it being good. I will share a review once I have one.
I acquired it today and all signs point to it being a good fragrance. I’ll share a full review here once I have one.
I have been testing this fragrance and it is in a good top for Hugo Boss. The standout note is the cocoa with vanilla and woody notes that give it that sweet/spiced accord. A very good fragrance that I recommend buying blind. It completely departs from the classic caramelised green apple of the Bottled.
I found this Hugo Boss line very faithful to what they do: masculine fragrances, safe, with moderate to low performance. However, after reading good reviews on MyScentJourney about this flanker (due to the cocoa notes), I decided to try it. It was true: a designer fragrance with rich cocoa and coffee notes. It smells unique; yes, it shares similarities with the original due to the maninka note, but it goes in a direction that distances it from that ‘safe’ German house aroma. I was confused the first time I smelled it: yes, there was cocoa and coffee, but I wasn’t sure where that slightly spiced fruity note was heading; I even thought its performance was low. As the days passed and I applied more (13 sprays), I found an explosive aroma in the first 4 hours, followed by a moderate trail for another 8 hours; if it lands on clothes, it lasts until the next day. The aroma is masculine; some say it’s sweet, but imagine a ripe fruit sweet, not like a dessert or caramel. The coffee notes last less than the cocoa, but they combine to give an impressive body, fusing with the patchouli. Diving into every detail is complex due to the uniqueness of this Private Accord; it earns compliments, works for dates, with friends, working from home, in the office or formally; in any occasion, you’ll leave an unforgettable olfactory memory. Should I recommend it? Yes, and if you’re in the niche or premium world, don’t judge it for being by Hugo Boss; shake off those marketing prejudices to enjoy this unique gem.
This line from Hugo Boss fits their style: masculine, confident, with moderate to low performance. However, after good reviews on MyScentJourney regarding the cocoa notes, I ventured in. It was real: a designer perfume with rich cocoa and coffee. It smells unique, shares similarities with the original due to the marmalade, but goes in another direction, far from the safe German scent. Confusion at first, yes there was cocoa and coffee, but I did not know where that slightly spiced fruity note was going; I even thought the performance was low. With the days and applying more (13 sprays), I found an explosive aroma in the first 4 hours, followed by a moderate trail for 8 more hours, lasting on clothes for the next day. Masculine aroma, sweet like ripe fruit, not a dessert or caramel. The coffee lasts less than the cocoa, but they blend to give an impressive body, fusing with the patchouli. Describing each note is complex due to the uniqueness of the Private Accord; it generates compliments, serves for dates, friends, remote work, the office, or formal events; you will leave a unique olfactory memory. Should I recommend it? Yes, and if you are in niche or premium, do not judge it for being Hugo Boss; remove marketing prejudices to enjoy this unique gem.
I started with this house this year; I already have three fragrances (Boss in Motion, Hugo Man Extreme, The Scent Private Accord). The first two are nostalgia, the third tested the gourmand/spiced/exotic hype and I concluded it gave me a liver hangover, but that is part of the job. They are three flankers of the original, four in total, and I do not know which is the best. It is warm and spiced, but not like The One. It has cocoa, but not like Dior Homme. It has coffee, but not like Mugler A*men. Discover what it offers: an opening that is slightly alcoholic, not explosive, reserved and skin-scented. Subtle and fresh citrus notes, then ginger opens the path between sweet and sour and earthy. As it settles, the exotic fruit (marmalade), similar to passion fruit, fruity pulp. No pineapple is noticeable. In the trail, coffee in the style of a moka, subtle, soft, creamy, like hazelnut, not Hershey’s chocolate, more like hazelnut cream. It ends with diluted coffee, soapy; it lacks a strong woody note for body and rounding with absent powdery vanilla. Here there is NO dense dark chocolate fragrance, roasted coffee trail, sweet fruity opening with cloying pineapple, biting pepper, boozy vanilla, spices, and smoked tobacco. That would have been exquisite, but it is not. It is a small fresh boat, powdery in coffee nuances, and that is all. Short duration, perhaps 1 hour, it dilutes like a cigarette. Utterly simple, innocent, youthful, with a light coffee touch. What a disappointment. When I persist with elements I like but do not enjoy the aroma, I will reconsider the original or another flanker, because here the PRIVATE ACCORD has not been carried out as it should.
One of my favourites from Hugo Boss. I bought it blind after seeing a winter top from a YouTuber and it was a complete success. Smells great, a very pleasant sweet fruity aroma with good performance. My batch from 13/11/2020 lasts until almost 7 hours, notable in the first hour. Usage: cold weather, casual, a walk, or a family celebration. Versatile, suitable for work, dates, or business dinners. A party? Perhaps it lacks the punch to stand out. It is becoming hard to find, so hurry before it disappears. A great fragrance.
As my colleague, a fan of Issey Miyake, says: ‘they always pull the best ones quickly and leave the crap’. My favourite in the saga with HB The Scent. Are you as lost as I am with so many flankers in some perfume sagas? Well, here’s another one for the Chief Hugo collection. The Private Accord (private accord) from 2018. Note, nowadays, in 2024, it’s extremely discontinued, and if you catch it, it will be by chance in a small perfumerie with old stock or started testers. In its dry down, it recalls the original Scent slightly, but this one has its own bitter coffee and cocoa accord (note, this doesn’t smell like a gourmand chocolate) that joins the ginger opening with the traditional spiced maninka of the saga and a soft woody base to give it weight and longevity. Longevity is quite good considering the current state of fragrances with poor performance at high prices. 7 hours with 1.30m projection at half a metre. Mature and nocturnal, it doesn’t smell generic or like usual aromas. For guys over 35 with a set style and a personality immune to trends, who intentionally want to be different from the masses. I don’t see it as an aroma for everyone, and be careful, on a hot day over 30°C it can be overwhelming and cause dizziness. If you see it, try it, you might like it. Blindly or without knowing it beforehand, I don’t recommend it, and don’t pay the rip-off price of 80-90 euros or more for 100ml bottles as asked in the grey market.
As a fellow Miyake fan once said: ‘they always pull the best ones off the shelf first’. My favourite in the saga alongside HB The Scent. Lost among so many flankers? Come on, another for Hugo Boss’s collection: The Private Accord from 2018. Note: by 2024 it is discontinued; if you find it, it will be by chance in small perfumeries with old stock or testers. When it dries down, it recalls the original but with its own private accord of coffee and bitter cocoa (it does not smell like a gourmand chocolate) blending with the traditional spicy marmalade and a soft woody base to add weight and longevity. It performs very well, lasting around 7 hours with moderate projection. Mature and nocturnal, it does not smell generic. Ideal for men over 35 with a set style and personality immune to trends, who wish to stand out from the crowd. Not for everyone, and beware: on hot days or above 30°C it may give you a headache. If you see it, try it; you might like it. I do not recommend buying blind and do not pay the exorbitant 80-90€ or more for 100ml on the grey market.
A gem for occasional winter wear or a night out in the cold. Guaranteed compliments, I recommend it.
