Descripción

Bad Boy by Carolina Herrera is a spicy oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by perfumers Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner. The top notes unfold with white pepper, bergamot, and pink pepper; the heart reveals cedar and helichrysum; while the base settles on tonka bean and cacao.

  • It’s not bad, though it has disappointed me a little. I own Scalpers The Club and can say they share 80% of their DNA. While this Bad Boy feels more refined and rounded than the Scalpers, which in comparison feels a bit rougher and sharper, Bad Boy has surprised me because I had the preconceived idea that it would be hyper-sweet and very chocolatey, but it hasn’t been. The heart of the fragrance is dominated by clary sage and lavender, resulting in a fresh and slightly sweet profile. After about three hours, a rich cocoa-habanera tonka combo emerges, and the scent, now yes, sweetens more, but without becoming overwhelming or uncomfortable. Performance: normal for an EDT. If you’re looking for a ‘beast mode’ perfume, look elsewhere, as this isn’t it. Around 6-7 hours and that’s it. Good projection and trail for the first two hours. Uses: it has a nocturnal character and suits cool temperatures (autumn-winter, although I feel its maximum potential is in autumn because I sense the herbal part of the sage and lavender doesn’t expand well in very cold weather). Price: 70 euros/100 ml. Not worth it. I’m sorry, but it’s excessively expensive and overpriced for what it is and offers. I think it’s fine that it’s by CH, that the bottle is very original, that it smells good, and everything else one might say, but more than 50 euros for this is a NO.

I’ve worn it for under 20 years and it’s a complete success, a fragrance for cold weather and especially for the night. I ended up buying an equivalent.

I bought it last week; I wasn’t looking for anything particular, just felt bored and wanted to add a fragrance to my collection. I already knew the scent from testing it on testers; this time I applied it to skin. On one forearm I had Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey, on the other Eros Flame, in one hand Hugo Boss Bottled, and in the other Bad Boy. I went for a one-and-a-half-hour walk: the Issey and Eros were barely noticeable, the Bad Boy quite present, and the Hugo was a beast. As always, I wanted the Ray in my collection, so it won on the bottle, but I keep applying it. During the first two hours, it’s a treat, projecting and having great strength. Then it fades considerably. The aroma is soft chocolate with pepper; I don’t share the opinion that it resembles Axe chocolate; I think the deodorant most similar would be Invictus Victory. It’s very rich; the only downside is longevity, and in my case, that buying the 150 ml version means the cap comes off to reveal the atomiser underneath; I wanted the atomiser camouflaged in the cap like the 100 ml versions.

  • Good aroma, quite sweet at first, then after a while it smells of chocolate. Hardly anyone won’t like it. However, I feel the longevity is unbalanced: the first two hours radiate strongly and are noticeable, but afterwards the trail reduces drastically; neither I nor anyone else noticed I was wearing it. I was gifted it and only use it for night outings (when it’s not hot). But considering the price and what I’ve said about the longevity with my savings, I’d look at other options.

  • LycheGames

It’s one of my girlfriend’s favourites when I apply it. I also own the purple version; this one is sharper at the beginning, whereas the purple is more balanced.

  • It’s like a chocolate chip cookie made into perfume. A sweet and exquisite fragrance that, in my opinion, is best used at night. Longevity is the only issue: the opening and the first two hours are intense, but then it disappears. Given the price, a similar and cheaper alternative could be Halloween Man X.

  • nataliedrm

A perfume with a cocoa aroma that smells quite good, but it’s super mass-produced. I see it more for young people just starting in the world of fragrance or for a night out.

  • Psicostasis

I received samples and I think my nose is quite disconnected. It starts well with that Nutella scent, which, while it doesn’t drive me mad, I tolerate. However, it then evolves into something insipid and overwhelming. It’s like making butter with specks of dust and water. Like Ned Flanders’ favourite ice cream, but if it made you fat. Everything in a bad way: it’s a dusty, scratchy nothingness, lacking substance yet sticky and heavy as the densest amber.

  • It’s a straightforward fragrance, honestly. I wouldn’t use it for special occasions, but rather for everyday wear. I must admit I received good compliments and people always asked if it was me. I had to reapply every three hours. 7/10.

  • rodrigo1995

A perfume for teenagers who want to feel grown-up at a party. It’s well-made and I’ve washed my wrist with soap twice and it’s still there. It’s mass-produced but of quality; it doesn’t smell cheap, although the mass production makes it look generic to my nose. It’s like Avon, but with quality ingredients. I’m not saying Avon scents are bad, but their DNA isn’t for demanding noses. It depends on who wears it. Very masculine and seductive, falling a bit into the grotesque. A bit of a fuck boy.

  • CarlosKloth

There are already plenty of reviews. It smells like Carolina Herrera with that DNA found in CH Men, Privé, and 212 VIP, but with a sweeter, spicier twist. Everything is moderate; it’s a rich scent, yet so popular and youthful that I’m not sure if it offends some or is loved by others for being so ‘NPC’-like. Ideal for under 25s. I’d give it 8/10. Note: good aroma, but very mass-produced. That said, it’s much better than the Superstars edition, which barely lasted a breath on me.

  • VicenteAg

Excellent fragrance, a safe purchase if you’re young and want to smell good. It doesn’t aim to be extremely complex, just a pleasant scent that generates compliments, and it delivers. The tonka bean and sweet cocoa stand out, giving a chocolate cookie effect, with a touch of cedar that makes it masculine. The opening is very peppery, then the tonka and cocoa with cedar arrive in the base; the first hours project well (1-2 hours), afterwards the trail is subtle but pleasant and almost edible. Ideal for cold climates, smells delicious on clothes, and sticks with physical contact. Although it’s a ‘common’ scent, it’s not as common as the blues, so it’s more memorable if it sticks to you. Totally recommended.

  • BenjaminParfum

Call me crazy, but I used it after three years and I sense a hint of Le Male Le Parfum. Just a hint, nothing more.

  • Alan S. Ulloa

I don’t know why it gets so much hate; it’s incredible and one of my favourites. The only issue is that I’ve heard it a lot on the street in clubs and bars; even my cousin wears it, so I have good reference points. On skin, it lasts 7-8 hours without problems and on clothes until I wash it. The trail and projection are heavy: freshly sprayed it reaches 2 metres, drops to 1 metre after 2 hours but still projects strongly, and by 4 hours it’s just a personal bubble. Performance is more than sufficient, perfect for dates or clubbing. Only for autumn-winter and evening.

  • Fun and attractive (the compliments give it that adjective), ideal for a casual encounter or a totally informal night out. It can be slightly trivial, but it’s one of those scents I want to own.

  • Pectacular123@elcreador

Versatile, nothing more: citrusy and spicy, another run-of-the-mill scent. It has nothing different or innovative, moderate longevity, and projection no more than the first hour. A boring perfume.

  • A rich fragrance, a little heavy for use in colder climates and at night. It has a citrus and oriental opening at the same time. It brings me a faint memory of The Golden Secret by Antonio Banderas.

  • A reliable choice for the young. It’s not olfactively complex, but very pleasant for any nose on informal night outings. I’ve received many compliments with this fragrance.

  • One of my first purchases in 2018 when I started collecting; it’s youthful, nocturnal, and ‘never misses’. Although there are better options from the line in 2024, it remains a great fragrance, simple yet characterful as a night scent. I highly recommend it to teenagers.

  • It’s a safe bet, easy to wear, and works equally well for day and night. It follows the trend of warm, sweet, and spicy scents, clearly targeting young men. The trail is moderate with an average longevity of 4-5 hours, featuring a sweet smell reminiscent of bitter chocolate. It’s very mass-produced, but for a reason: it does its job perfectly.

  • Yes, it smells like Axe chocolate and if in full 2025 you can find that DNA even in Maruchan, it’s still a rich perfume with good performance that generates many compliments. No one will say ‘oh, you don’t have the Bad Boy EDT, how horrible’; they’ll simply say: ‘you smell delicious’.

  • A good scent without complications; it doesn’t reach being intrusive and has a good evolution from pepper to cocoa and tonka. I feel it’s still youthful; although it doesn’t last long on me, it’s brilliant.

  • A simple, charming, sexy, warm perfume with a certain elegance. The citrus opening is barely perceptible; immediately the pepper, cocoa and tonka take centre stage. These three notes last all day, giving a cosy feeling. It seems like a performance bomb the moment it’s sprayed, but it disappoints because it retreats into a personal bubble. Projection is very limited and trail is moderate to low. In longevity it passes the 8-hour mark and on clothes it lasts days. Although it’s very intimate and only those who get close will feel it, that’s where the pleasure lies, as the aroma is beautiful.

  • Carolina Herrera’s Bad Boy is simple, with common notes that I doubt anyone won’t like, but that’s what makes a good perfume. I really like the cocoa note; it feels very warm but not intrusive. When I ask friends or my girlfriend, the answer is a ‘meh’: it’s okay, not bad; it remains one of my favourites from CH, alongside 212 Sexy and Bad Boy Le Parfum. It’s youthful, versatile and suitable for everything, although I rule it out on hot days because it’s a bit warm. I give it a 7/10. I recommend it blindly, but I reiterate: its scent is present in many fragrances and loses originality. Anyway, it’s a great perfume, I have it in my collection and I love it.

  • How many prejudices. Much has been said; I’ll repeat some points from another perspective: it’s overused, totally. It’s ambroxanised in the style of Sauvage, certainly. After a few days of testing, on my skin and nose, it worked well even in heat, which is surprising. The bergamot opening has a pleasant vintage touch that fades quickly; mixed with the peppers, it lasts a treat although subdued. The cocoa isn’t chocolatey but powdery, similar to an iris. The longevity is impressive; even after washing, it holds strong. At first it’s citrusy but quickly shifts to a soft, sweet musk, spiced and slightly tonal. I get the impression it avoids pitfalls: being too vintage, too modern, too sweet, or too tonka. In that balance, it holds up well; only a small group of olfactory extremists will trumpet their hate message. You won’t smell exclusive; it’s very current, very Eros, very Sauvage, something that carries everything Christ carries. For me, that doesn’t invalidate it; exclusivity is lost, but that’s not essential.

  • mauriciomadrizr

One of the best fragrances I’ve used and it gets me more compliments. For me, it’s a must-have; it works both day and night; don’t think it’s only for evening. I’ve worn it in the office and my colleagues want to smell me all day. I give it a 9/10 and its longevity is fabulous.

  • Jeremyyael

A classic that doesn’t disappoint; smells delicious upon application and dry down. I see it as ideal for cold climates and evenings; girls love it. You’ll smell rich, yes, but regarding longevity: until someone tells you the whole room smells like you, you won’t feel anything.

  • fragabymemanoseoenunuber

Cut the crap and listen: the perfume sashes quite a bit and the trail is rubbish (maybe it’s me). After about 2-3 hours, you can’t smell it at all. Those first two hours of pepper and chocolate are lovely, but if you’ve never smelled it, I recommend stealing it from your mother, mixing it with a Milka chocolate bar, and sticking it in your nose; it smells the same. If you’re over 25, don’t spend your money; it’s a kid’s perfume. I feel like the quarterback of an American football team who, after winning, goes to the high school showers and then seeks out the cheerleader captain (the ones shaking their pom-poms at Yankee games). In short, it’s good.

  • My first perfume. Worth starting a collection with, but it’s already worn out. I wouldn’t recommend it if you already own others from Carolina Herrera or other houses.

  • The scent is interesting, but the longevity is non-existent. Mercadona perfumes beat this CH Bad Boy hands down in trail and projection; if you wear it on clothes, it’s gone after two hours.

  • Definitely, I’m not a fan of this type of aroma and I’ve really tried hard. All the designer ones attempting to have cocoa or something sweet/warm smell hypersynthetic to me. I don’t think it’s the perfume’s fault, but rather my nose and my olfactory experiences. I say, it doesn’t smell bad, but to my nose, it doesn’t quite fit; it feels like a very strange smell, although I admit this is the one that has come closest to pleasing me. These aromas still remind me of foamy scents, although this is the one with the least of that tendency because the cocoa comes out quite a bit in the drydown. What it did confirm is that Cobalt has this DNA in about 40-50%, but I do like Cobalt for the fresh twist it offers.

The cocoa doesn’t win me over. I had high expectations with the famous Bad Boy due to the chocolate note, spoiler: it didn’t go crazy for me. The opening seemed unattractive; I felt the bergamot citrus mixed with a rather unrefined cocoa, and on my skin it reminded me of an old oatmeal cookie. It’s not offensive, but not seductive either. Once it dries down, it improves; from that flat sweetness emerges a fresh, woody note—cedar, amber—that gives it body and masculinity. I liked this part: it’s recognisable, warm, and has that modern air that works well if dosed correctly. Would I use it in the heat? Yes, but carefully with the sprays. It’s not versatile or spectacular, but it has its moment. As always, I recommend testing on skin for at least half a day to appreciate its evolution. I give it a 7/10: only the drydown convinced me. It wouldn’t be my first choice, but I understand its commercial appeal.

  • valentinophantom

I love this fragrance; it fascinates me. It was one of the first I owned and I’d definitely buy it again. If this fragrance were a woman, she’d be China Suárez, because she’s stunning but 99% of the planet has had her. Thanks CH for creating such a masterpiece. Le Parfum might beat it, but well, one must write more reviews to seem like a serious critic. 9.5/10. Sex guaranteed.

  • metroidsoldier

I find this Bad Boy very sweet; it tastes like a chocolate bar with vanilla, and yes, it is similar to Axe Chocolate. If you enjoy sweet perfumes like Mugler’s A*men or JPG’s Scandal, this could be your best choice.

  • alexherrera

I’m not a fan of sweet, chocolate, or vanilla perfumes, but this one is really good, an 8 out of 10. It’s one of those women adore; sweet, sexy, and they want to inhale the scent repeatedly. It’s sweet but not cloying, nothing like the overwhelming sweetness of One Million; this CH is well-balanced. The pepper and citrus help make it aromatic and spicy, which is appreciated by those who don’t like sweet fragrances, similar to Halloween X which is a warm, sweet coffee scent but spiced. These are 80% sweet fragrances with that 20% spice that makes them more wearable, although it remains warm and doesn’t suit hot weather. At first, I didn’t like it due to my preference for other scents, not because it’s bad, but comparing it to other sweet ones now, I’m satisfied to have it and use it little by little, learning to enjoy it when I wear it. It’s good to give other scent types a chance and recognise when they are good.

  • The opening didn’t convince me at all, but it improves considerably afterwards and leaves a pleasant aroma with good longevity. For me, it’s much better than Bad Boy Extreme. It’s good for everyday wear or occasionally, but it has nothing special about it.

  • It was a blind buy and I find that synthetic cocoa note quite delightful. It can be worn in cold climates or even spring days. A good perfume, attractive to women, though as one comment states, for a little more there are better sweet alternatives.

  • This doesn’t smell like Axe Chocolate; people have their reality rather distorted. I compared it and there’s nothing alike; Axe smells heavily of chocolate, whereas this is rich bergamot chocolate, sometimes even fresh, but it remains a party, night, or cold-weather scent.

  • Quick opinion: it doesn’t smell like pure chocolate as claimed; you barely detect a hint of cocoa with vanilla, but the tonka bean is much stronger. The opening is average, that scent of a typical 25-30-year-old lad, but it really comes into its own once it dries down. If you don’t own many perfumes, don’t buy it blindly; if you have 40 in your wardrobe, you’ll love it. I’d wear it occasionally to vary my routine or for evening outings.
