  • This perfume is perfect for flushed days, spring or summer, or if you live in a warm climate to wear it all the time. It has excellent sillage and its longevity is a monster; it lasts hours, hours and hours. I put it on at 9 and by 4 I’m getting a blackberry breeze. It’s a perfume that makes you fall in love with its sweet summer scent, but with a touch you don’t distinguish at first and which is fruity. It’s an expensive perfume but it’s worth its price.

  • Ideal for sunny days, spring, summer, or hot climates. It has excellent sillage and beastly longevity: it lasts for hours and hours. I put it on at 9 am and still get a hint of blackberry breeze by 4 pm. It’s a perfume that makes you fall in love with its sweet summer scent, with a fruity touch that you don’t notice at first. It’s expensive, but it’s worth the price.

  • It smells good: I only detect osmanthus, almond, a hint of vanilla, and a plum that isn’t listed in the notes. Initially, the sillage is strong, but after half an hour it drops significantly, lasting around five hours close to the skin. I wouldn’t buy it again; it doesn’t justify the price. It’s expensive and doesn’t last nearly long enough on my skin. I like the scent, but it doesn’t drive me wild.

This perfume is pleasant to my nose; I only smell osmanthus, almond, a bit of vanilla and a plum that isn’t listed in its declared notes. I must say that initially its sillage is strong, but after half an hour it drops incredibly low and lasts about five hours right up to my skin. I wouldn’t buy it again as the quality-price ratio doesn’t compensate. It’s an expensive perfume that doesn’t last almost anything on my skin. I like its aroma but it doesn’t drive me crazy.

  • On my skin, Sunshine opens with a brutal projection of sweet vanilla tobacco, a typical unisex scent reminiscent of The Merchant of Venice’s Arabesque, but with fewer spices. However, while that one keeps tobacco as the protagonist, Sunshine takes a turn over a few hours to settle back into this note; after half an hour, it becomes much softer and more feminine. Here, osmanthus and almond dominate, rounded off by a subtle bitter hint of artemisia at the base. The final phase returns to the sweet tobacco, which accompanied me close to the skin until my shower the next day. I found it a lovely perfume, without any harsh edges, leaning feminine unisex, suitable for day or night in the shoulder seasons. But I don’t think the hype is justified; there are equally valid and cheaper alternatives, so it’s not worth paying its price. Pleasantness 7/10, Interesting 7/10, Versatile 7/10, Original 6/10.

I bought a sample of this Amouage due to the good reviews, but when I tried it I thought: ‘Is that it? So much fuss?’. On my skin, ‘Sunshine’ starts with vanillaised tobacco, fruits and green notes; the sensation is bitter, powdery and smoky. What I liked was the heart phase: a fruity accord of apricot with osmanthus and white flowers, with touches of almond and vanilla. It was luminous and pleasant, but then the sun disappeared and it left a cloudy summer day. In the dry-down I only perceived that base of smoke with burnt woods and stale tar. The notes that stand out most are tobacco flower, osmanthus, almond and woods. They described it as creamy, sweet, with a solar vibe of smiles and happiness; nothing like that on me. For me, it’s dry, aromatic, smoky and cloudy. I think of light dyed with darkness and smoke, like a solar eclipse in arid desert dunes. I’ll take the sample on holiday in case I like it more in a more humid climate, because on my skin and with the dry, arid summer here, this doesn’t look beautiful to me. If it catches your eye, I recommend ordering a sample; it’s not a safe blind buy given how different and unique it is.

  • Sunshine is one of my favourite perfumes. It’s proper niche: special, unique, deep, warm, and full of nuances. It smells of osmanthus (which gives the sensation of dry, airy, almost vanillaised ripe apricots) mixed with sweet tobacco. Careful, it doesn’t smell of cigarettes or a campfire, but of sweetened tobacco leaves. It’s a warm, slightly spicy, solar, energising and addictive floral-fruity blend. I don’t imagine a beach when I smell it, but a walk in the sun under apricot trees. On my skin, the almond doesn’t stand out. It’s sweet, not cloying, but not fresh or summery; in heat it can be too sweet. I enjoy it more with moderate temperatures. It’s like Xerjoff’s Dolce Amalfi; similar vibe. Performance: medium sillage and lasts about seven hours on skin. I adore it, it’s magical. Scent 10/10 Sillage 8/10 Longevity 7/10 Edit: When I wear it, my boyfriend says I smell like honey.

Careful, it doesn’t smell of cigarettes or a campfire, but of sweetened tobacco leaves. It’s a warm, slightly spicy, solar, energising, warm and totally addictive floral-fruity blend. I don’t imagine a beach when I smell it, but a walk in the sun under trees full of apricots. On me, the almond hardly stands out. It’s a sweet perfume, not cloying, which in my opinion we associate with summer due to the type of aroma it is. But don’t imagine it’s fresh and summery, because it isn’t. In very high temperatures, it could be too sweet for some people. Personally, I enjoy it most with moderate temperatures. It’s the type of aroma that Xerjoff’s Dolce Amalfi has; I’m not saying they’re similar, but they have a similar vibe. As for its performance, its sillage is medium and it lasts about seven hours on my skin. I adore it, it’s a magical perfume. -Scent: 10/10 -Sillage: 8/10 -Longevity: 7/10 Edit: When I wear it, my boyfriend tells me I smell like honey.

  • For me, the notes have nothing to do with the scent. It smells like Nestlé’s Pirulo Tropical. It’s very refreshing, but childish and common, like a mango body spray. The price is outrageous for what it offers.

  • For me, Sunshine is a bomb. But beware, it looks dangerous and isn’t something to buy blindly or use without care, as it can be overwhelming. In terms of scent, it’s a portrait of osmanthus, highlighting ripe peach or apricot. That fruity sweetness isn’t cloying and sometimes reminds me of dates. I notice the patchouli more at the start, with that powdery, almond-like touch. The vanilla, although always there, becomes more noticeable later, with a spicy nuance. At the base, there’s tobacco. For me, it’s elegant due to its presence, but perhaps it comes across as rough and obvious. It’s warm and solar, though I wear it more in winter for its epic potency. With 3-4 short sprays, I’m covered even in the cold. The longevity exceeds 24 hours. The downsides: it can get tiring wearing it for so long, the overwhelming projection, and the ripe fruit can be unpleasant if you overdo it. If you try it, like it, and commit to wearing it for hours, enjoy it. I’ve loved it, but I won’t buy a full bottle after decanting; it hasn’t enchanted me enough to justify the price. Scent 7/10 Longevity 10/10 Sillage 10/10 Value for money 6/10 Versatility 3/10 Packaging 8/10 Would I buy again? No.

What a strange Amouage: the first time I wore it on my skin, it smelled like a damp ashtray full of cigarette butts. The second time, same thing. Today, after almost a year, I finally understand that ‘glow’ people talk about: that creamy osmanthus that’s a joy, the softness of the almond base, and the warmth of a velvety vanilla. What a beautiful thing it is to give fragrances several chances and see how they surprise us. The best thing was getting a sample to use at my own pace and check its performance.

  • Well, it’s a mango dessert, but it doesn’t last half an hour. Pleasant, yes, but it fades without making a fuss. I’d put it in the ‘won’t overwhelm anyone and stay under the radar’ category; it’s not that it’s ugly or boring, it’s just sometimes exactly what you need.
