Elise Benat, a perfumer at Firmenich, was born and grew up in the south of France, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, the maquis, myrtle and salt. She recalls these aromas with admiration. As a teenager, Elise travelled to several exotic corners of the world, which later influenced her future work as she created delicate and surprising fragrances.

Elise discovered her passion for perfume while studying chemistry during her first course of training in perfumery. She describes this as a true revelation and, from that moment, she was determined to pursue a career in perfumery. Her dream came true when she joined the Firmenich team.

For Elise, the creation of fragrances is like photography, as she sees aromas as images. She finds inspiration in art and literature and enjoys translating words into aromas. As she says: “When I create, I see images. Like a photographer, I imagine scents as images”.

In addition to her passion for perfume, Elise enjoys reading and finds comfort in literature. Her experiences and passions have undoubtedly contributed to her success as a perfumer, and her creations continue to surprise and delight the fragrance industry.
