I’m a novice and most of my purchases are blind buys; Oud Vanille is one of them. I was interested after a YouTube video (Curly’s TOP 10 CHEAP 2021). Ironically, it wasn’t on the list, but Oud Touch and Shaghaf Oud were ranked 3rd and 2nd. I read that Oud Touch is similar and Shaghaf is the closest to my taste, so I thought it couldn’t go wrong. After watching more videos and reading opinions, I decided to try it. Upon opening, the bottle suits the price, but when I removed the cap, it leaked a bit onto my bed… quite a shock! The scent is powerful and flooded the room; even five days later, traces remain. On skin, it wasn’t quite as overwhelming, but it projects strongly. To me, it’s sweet with wood, musky rose, and predominant frankincense. I usually dislike burnt incense, but this one I enjoy. In conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend a blind buy. I like it but don’t love it—ideal for cold weather, unisex but leaning masculine. In a video, I saw that layering it with B.R.’s Dark Cherry Amber worked well for someone. I previously wanted to try Zadig & Voltaire’s This Is Him for that incense and vanilla blend, but now I think I’ll pass. Best wishes and good luck.

A true delicacy that masterfully combines the successful formula of oud, rose, and frankincense. The opening is caramelised and sweet with red berries, yet it doesn’t become cloying thanks to the wood notes that emerge as it dries. There’s a fruity raspberry facet that fades by evening. The oud isn’t listed, but it’s felt through the blend of notes, reminiscent of Mauboussin Cristal Oud or Venezia’s Exciting Oud Touch (which do declare it). Compared to Oud Touch, there’s no contest: Vanille Oud surpasses it in quality, originality, trail, and projection. Fixation lasts at least 15 hours on skin, projecting for over an hour to more than a metre away. It has real power, never goes unnoticed, and finishes with vanilla and rose—truly beautiful.

  • Good morning, David Davidson! I’m really keen on Oud Vanille—what batch is yours? Since it’s from 2017, there’s a chance it’s been reformulated. I must admit, I love Oud Touch, but this one seems even better.

Hello Calidum Alis, the batch is a bit blurry but I can see 29/11/012796/10, which is from my second bottle. I’m not sure if they reformulated it, but it lasts all day and has good projection. Best regards.

  • I own several ouds (none niche) and this is my favourite for being versatile and slightly sweet. The price-to-quality ratio is top-notch. If we go to the extreme, Ard al Z’s Midnight Oud is a bomb and I hardly use it, but F. Olivier’s is a real treat; I even wear it in summer (just three sprays) and prefer it to Natura Essentia’s. Highly recommended purchase, even blind, for anyone who knows oud. It has good longevity; on dry skin, most last around four hours, this one about six.

Thanks to a colleague I got to try it, and this perfume is an absolute nightmare, although it does have a brutal projection.

Thanks to a colleague I got to try it, and this perfume is truly awful (though it does have great projection).

Lovely fragrance, reminds me a lot of Oud Touch but this one is sweeter due to the vanilla. Perhaps it is slightly sharper, clearly more unisex and ideal for fresh and intermediate seasons.

  • Economical fragrance with good longevity. Pity. Definitely unisex, though very heavily feminine. I only detect the rose note from start to finish, I don’t sense any other olfactory notes. It wasn’t to my taste and I wouldn’t buy it again. Definitely not for blind buys.

  • An economical scent with great longevity, what a pity. Definitely unisex, yet heavily feminine. I only detect the rose note from start to finish, without perceiving any other olfactory notes. I didn’t like it and wouldn’t buy it again. Not for blind buys, definitely.

  • It’s a good perfume and economical for its quality. It has an air of Shagaf Oud by Swiss Arabian, but here the rose is more accentuated; Shagaf is more vanilla and classier. Having caramel instead of oud makes it stickier. For some reason, it doesn’t last long on my skin nor project much; in my case, it doesn’t seem to be a beast mode.

  • It is a good perfume, affordable for its quality. It has an air of Shaghaf Oud by Swiss Arabian, but here the rose is more accentuated; in Shaghaf it is more vanilla with more class. • I am absolutely in love with this Hermosura by Franck Olivier Oud Vanille, perfect for autumn and winter on cold days. I was surprised by the longevity: 14 hours on skin and it lingers on clothes even after washing. It wraps around you warmly, vanilla-sweet and with that musky rose enveloped in caramel. I can smell it on me all the time and have received many compliments. I would buy it again; it is worth it. It has the 3 Bs: Good, Beautiful, and Good Price.

  • I let myself be swayed by the notes and the good reviews… but I was left with a huge surprise. Non grata. My skin turns it bitter; I don’t sense any sweet notes, neither the caramel nor the vanilla, nor the flowers. It smells of burnt wood, totally masculine. It projects a lot and is very potent, confirming that it’s a low-cost perfume of good quality, but not for every nose. It wasn’t a successful blind buy, although I think it’s good to try complex fragrances to educate the nose.

  • I trusted the promised notes and the positive reviews, but I was let down. On my skin, it turns bitter; I detect no sweetness, neither caramel nor vanilla, nor any florals. It smells like burnt wood, super masculine. It projects a lot and is powerful, confirming it’s a low-cost fragrance of questionable quality, but not for every nose. It wasn’t a successful blind buy, though I think it’s worth trying complex scents to educate your nose.

  • Another addition to my collection bought blind. On my skin, it smells of incense; I liked it quite a bit. It’s for winter, very masculine. I don’t sense the other notes, just incense and woods.

  • Same pyramid as its sibling Oud Touch, but here the vanilla takes centre stage throughout the development. Sweet opening of caramel, vanilla and raspberry, contrasted by the bitter note of incense, which fades in intensity as it dries, leaving an ultra-protagonist creamy vanilla, while the musky rose and medicinal incense recede into the background. There is also a hint of patchouli and amber at the base. In my opinion, it is rich and totally unisex, ideal for mild weather. It projects heavily at first and lasts 8 hours like its sibling, though I don’t see it as elegant, more versatile: by regulating the sprays it works for day, night and any season except summer.

  • Delicious and totally unisex. For the price, it’s a marvel. On my skin, what stands out most is the incense, the heart of the fragrance, surrounded by rose, vanilla, and woods. It’s addictive.

  • This perfume is pure gold for men with darker skin tones. Why? Skin chemistry varies with skin tone, altering how molecules interact. This applies to everything: shampoos, creams, makeup. While we have general patterns, every skin is unique. Generally, darker skin is more acidic, with more sebum and natural oils, which intensifies scents, especially spicy and musky ones (for better or worse, like armpits). This one has a strong, invasive opening; it smells spectacular in the air with a mysterious trail, but up close it seems too overpowering and slightly faecal. I love its spicy, woody, and musky notes, but on my semi-fair complexion, it just doesn’t sit right. PS: A friend of colour owns it and it looks spectacular on him.
