Alvaro1976 is basically an oud you don’t expect, with a medicinal touch and a hint of excrement, but without any factory faults; that’s just how it is. There are worse perfumes out there, and many far more expensive ones. The opening is tricky, but once it dries down, it improves immensely.
Although smell is subjective, I don’t understand who enjoys this concoction. It smells of unbearable plastic and synthetic material. I’ve never heard anything so dreadful and foul that I thought it had factory faults, although I don’t know if this happens in the industry. I literally threw it in the bin.
It’s a unisex fragrance with a feminine and oriental touch, a blend of incense-burnt rose oud and sweetness, very powdery. To me, it sounds like a YSL M7 mixed with a classic Guerlain floral like Gres or Patou. The oud here is synthetic and soft, nothing like Dyango. It smells of maturity and elegance, ideal for fresh weather; in the heat, it will make you dizzy. You can tell Mauboussin has quality and style without being snobbish about the price. In my opinion, it’s better than the Franck Olivier Oud Touch (which smells fake and shoddy) and the Black Aoud by Montale (which is heavy and boring). Although marketed as masculine, I believe women over 30 will like it more. Longevity and projection are very good, lasting 7 hours without issues. Excellent value for money.
A unisex fragrance, slightly feminine and oriental, with a rose-oud incense combo that is somewhat cloying. To me, it seems an impossible blend of YSL M7 with a classic women’s floral like Guerlain Gres or Patou. The oud is synthetic and softer than Dyango’s discography. It smells of maturity, elegance, and sophistication. Being a cloying floral, I see it as ideal for fresh weather; with heat, it will overwhelm you greatly. With Mauboussin fragrances, you can tell the quality and the effort to have style without being posh for their economical price. In my opinion, it is better than Franck Olivier Oud Touch (which I note has a fake and cheap oud) and also better than Black Aoud by Montale (which I find super-heavy, boring, and synthetic). This is something else. Due to its prominent note of cloying pink rose, although sold as masculine, in my opinion it will appeal more to mature women over 30 than to men. As for duration and performance, it is very good: it easily lasts 7 hours and projects to half a metre for the first two hours. In terms of quality-price ratio, Mauboussin is very good.
Incense ruins the scent for me. My nose can’t handle it, which is a pity because it has quality and power for its price. The rose is feminine and powdery. I regret buying it blindly.
WARNING! Danger of addiction with this fragrance: as soon as it comes out of the first spray, it smells of rose with incense and a slightly medicinal oud but without any downside. With three sprays, it leaves skin and clothes impregnated for two days. Elegant with only three declared notes; it often feels like a slightly synthetic rose but knocks everyone out. Not for blind buying, but addicts to this world consider it a treasure to discover, noting that at an excellent price it will turn more than one head as you pass.

If you like incense and don’t hate rose, you’ll love it.

I bought it blindly… the rose is strong at the start but manageable, then it moves to a pleasant incense. I really like fragrances with incense. The oud feels very light. I’m not regretting the blind purchase. I only have one gripe: the glass bottle with the leaf. My bottle just says ‘Mauboussin Cristal Oud’; what will be the difference? Regards.
It is exquisite. A wood with lots of incense and a very subtle rose. A fragrance for autumn and winter. Excellent performance: I applied it to one wrist, then put on another fragrance, and I can still smell the first one over the top. I applied it 6 hours ago and it still projects to half a metre. An interesting oud, very incense-heavy. It reminds me of that Sroma when you enter Indian shops, that vibe of the classic Nag Champa incense. A perfume for autumn and winter, an original aroma not seen before. If you love incense, Indian mysticism, and palo santo, this will be your battle fragrance. Summary: a man inspired by fine Nag Champa with a soft touch of cinnamon. Fixation for 10 hours.
It’s exquisite. Wood with lots of incense and a very subtle rose. A scent for autumn and winter. Excellent projection; I put another perfume over it and I can still smell the one on my wrist. I applied it 6 hours ago and it still projects half a metre away. I definitely recommend it.
