I super mega recommend it if you are a fan of lemon, orange, fig, and vibrant scents. It reminded me a bit of Acqua di Parma Fico, but this one is more masculine. If you want to smell good and rich, this is the one. Performance of five to six hours; I would buy it again without a doubt.
On trying it, I thought of the Côte d’Azur, specifically Menton: coastal, sunny, with lemon trees. It takes me there and recalls the spirit of the Eau and Prestige lines of Menton, based on lemon. BDK is inspired by places, and this is the Cape of Antibes, a neighbour of Menton. The olfactory journey is well done: citrus, aquatic, aromatic, neat, and fresh. Lemon and neroli wrapped in eucalyptus and water. Although unisex, I see it as more masculine, perhaps due to the vetiver. It’s not the most original from BDK, but it will please lovers of citrus and fresh scents. The best part is the performance: it lasts up to six hours, and in the first hours, it is noticeable at a metre. It pleases due to cleanliness; it’s hard not to like it. Another matter is whether it compensates for the price.
I feel that Citrus Riviera brings together the best of many worlds in the citrus realm: good lemon, mandarin, neroli, fig… up to a fresh and sparkling perfume, full-on citrus and fruity, with white floral, green, and a musky base. It transforms, recalling many fresh scents (Fico di Amalfi, Cedro di Diamante, etc.), but shines with its own light. The similar profile is Atelier des Ors, with BDK being more complex and having better performance. It’s for heat, unisex, and excellent performance. I see it as versatile and of natural quality. I would have it, but being a well-made chimera, at times I prefer scents more focused on a single note. Rating: 8.5/10.
Although it smells of quality ingredients and nature at first, after 20-30 minutes on skin it turns into bathroom cleaning products; there’s almost a subtle urine-like scent (or perhaps it’s an association). Afterwards, it leaves a subtle white floral citrus that lasts 4-5 hours. I haven’t tried it on clothes or worn it out on an active day yet.
I didn’t like it. It doesn’t smell bad, but it’s not the kind of aquatic fragrance I would wear (and sailors are my favourites, although this leans more towards citrus). To repeat, it doesn’t smell bad, but I wouldn’t pay what it costs as it is very similar to Montblanc’s Explorer Ultra Blue, which is a fraction of the price. The opening is identical, but once it settles, the BDK shows better quality in the citrus and better longevity, though it still doesn’t justify the price. There are better niche options if you are looking for BDK.
I arrived at CITRUS Riviera with high hopes, expecting something more citrusy as the name suggests. I saw reviews comparing it to Tom Ford’s Mandarine Amalfi (one of my favourites), but they have nothing in common. The opening is fresh, slightly citrusy and aquatic, but in my opinion, it only features fig with a touch of floral, becoming sweet and very flat as it develops. It has a soapy nuance that makes it very clean; it doesn’t project much, but the longevity is between 6 and 8 hours, staying within the personal space. I decided to buy it because I found it at a very good price.
I was eager to try it, expecting something more citrusy given the name. Some said it had the vibe of Tom Ford’s Mandarine de Amalfi, but nothing like it. Fresh opening, slightly citrusy and aquatic; for me, only the fig and a touch of floral stand out, leaving it sweet and flat. It has a soapy air that makes it very neat; it doesn’t project much but lasts between 6 and 8 hours on my personal skin. I copped it because I found it very cheap.
Starts with citrus and water, but I don’t detect the fig. Then the green notes emerge, turning it into an algae scent; sailors aren’t really my thing, and this one becomes one quickly. Don’t buy blindly based on the notes; test on skin: it changes drastically and has nothing to do with the citrus opening on the paper.
