Descripción

Tabac Rose by BDK Parfums is a creation from the spicy oriental family, designed for men and women. Launched in 2020, this fragrance was composed by perfumer Julien Rasquinet. Its olfactive structure unfolds with top notes of plum, pink pepper, and Italian lemon; a heart that reveals Turkish rose, chocolate, and cinnamon; and a woody, earthy base formed by tobacco, Indonesian patchouli leaves, and Spanish labdanum.

What a joy to find niche with this quality! The opening is a potent citrus that didn’t quite take to my liking, but after five minutes it smells of fresh, sweet rose. It evolves constantly, which fascinates me. The creamy labdanum enters, followed by dark, seductive plum; the tobacco and chocolate peek through, the pink pepper adds a kick to the rose, and patchouli closes it with a floral, fruity, amber, spiced, and honeyed finish (like Scandal By Night freshly applied). It’s unisex-feminine, with trail, projection, and luxury longevity. It reminds me a bit of Lancome’s Oud Bouquet and something of Swiss Arabian’s Shaghaf Oud, but they aren’t copies; they follow different paths. When I finish these three, I’ll only repeat this one: Tabac Rose. Note: between three and four hours it smells 95% like Scandal By Night, then evolves to become more floral.

Tabac Rose opens with a citrus and plum note, spiced with a hint of pink pepper; then the acidity gives way to a sweet, sparkling rose. The tobacco and chocolate are barely noticeable at first, but as it dries down, everything floats together creating a gorgeous, very wearable fragrance. It lasted 12 hours, projected well for five hours before settling into the skin. It’s magnificent, nothing like Oud Bouquet or anything else in my collection; it has me absolutely floored. For me, it’s a 9/10.

  • I bought this fragrance blind in 10 mL size and the truth is, it has surprised me quite a bit. It has a sweet-fruit opening but vibrant, cheerful, with a slightly citrusy touch on my skin that evaporates quickly. What I perceive fundamentally during the first hours is a dark plum, with a covering of dark chocolate, a spicy point I do not know if it is more tobacco or cinnamon and a discrete but notable floral touch that gives the powdery point to the fragrance. In the last hours of evolution (from 4-5 hours), on my skin that fruity part is lost and a sweet, spicy and woody dry-down remains. It is a quite sweet perfume throughout its evolution, but that does not cloy. With very good performance but that to me (at least in medium/cold temperatures) never reaches to bother me. Now well, nor is it a perfume with which to go unnoticed… in fact, it has generated quite a few compliments. Autumnal/winter and more nocturnal than diurnal. I see it as a dark, sexy, seductive perfume. To some it may seem more feminine than masculine due to the sweetness of the fragrance and the rose note… however, although I myself enjoy wearing it a lot, I think that for a man this fragrance would grant personality and mystery. 100% unisex in my opinion. It does not resemble any other I have tried excessively. I see it as quite unique… and yet, palatable. In short, another jewel from the BDK house (and there are already many).

  • I bought it blind in 10ml and it surprised me. The opening is sweet-fruitful yet vibrant and cheerful, with a light citrus touch that fades quickly. What I truly notice are the first few hours of dark plum with black chocolate, a touch of spice (I’m not sure if it’s tobacco or cinnamon) and a subtle floral note that gives it a powdery edge. At the end (4-5 hours), the fruitiness fades, leaving a sweet, spiced, and woody dry-down. It’s quite sweet but not cloying. Performance is very good, and for me (in medium/cold temperatures) it never bothers me. It doesn’t go unnoticed; in fact, I’ve received many compliments. Autumnal/winter and more nocturnal. I see it as dark, sexy, and seductive. Some might find it more feminine due to the sweetness and rose, but I believe it adds personality and mystery to a man. 100% unisex for me. It doesn’t remind me of anything; it’s quite unique and pleasant. Another gem from BDK (there are already many).

Tabac Rose by BDK has the quality you’d expect from the house. Plum, rose, tobacco, and patchouli in the base take centre stage; it’s sweet but not cloying and very well balanced. The rose is the main protagonist with a duality: sometimes citrusy, other times dark and sweet, both facets are pleasant. As it dries down, the tobacco becomes more apparent, but the other notes remain. It’s a rich scent. Yes, it resembles Lancome’s Oud Bouquet, but without that extra floral touch on the rose. It could be the niche version of Banana Republic’s Tobacco & Tonka Bean due to the tobacco and plum, or a twist on the tobacco in MFK’s Oud Satin Mood. These are complex, suggestive perfumes perfect for cold weather. I can see myself wearing it well for dates or special events, with top-tier performance. I like it very much; it deserves to be tried. Of everything I’ve tested from BDK (thanks to Gabriel Sánchez for the samples <3), it's one of the best. Note: 8/10.

Tabac Rose by BDK, like everything from the brand, has seemed to me of great quality. It is an aroma where the plum, rose, tobacco and patchouli in its base predominate, with important sweetness but not cloying and generally quite well balanced. I think the rose is the great protagonist and has a duality where at times it is more citrusy and other times more dark and sweet, both facets being quite pleasant. In the dry-down the tobacco shows a bit more, but the other notes continue to be appreciated. It is a rich aroma and if it is true that it resembles Oud Bouquet by Lancome, but without that additional floral aspect to the rose. On the other hand, being that it could be the niche version of Tobacco & Tonka Bean by Banana Republic due to the use of tobacco and plum, or a twist on the tobacco of Oud Satin Mood by MFK. Having said the above, they are all perfumes with a quite complex, suggestive profile and for cold climates. I also see it very good for dates or special occasions, with excellent performance. I like it quite a bit, I think it deserves to be tried and of what I have tried from BDK (special thanks to Gabriel Sánchez for facilitating the samples <3) it is one of the best. Note: 8/10.

  • These are cousins of Gallagher’s Rosé al Dae, though this one is less dense. To me, the plum is very noticeable as it dries down, mixed with chocolate and patchouli. It’s for cold climates, a beast that can cause headaches or nausea if overapplied. A complex, interesting scent, totally unisex, with beastly longevity. BDK should release 30ml formats because 100ml is an exaggeration. If you like drunk rose, this is a must-have in your collection.

  • I start by saying they are cousins with Rosé al Dae from Gallagher fragrances, although this is less thick. In my opinion the plum is felt a lot in the dry-down, mixed with chocolate and the patchouli. It is a fragrance for cold climates definitely, it is a beast that can produce headaches and nausea if overapplied, it is a very complex and interesting aroma, totally unisex, and with beastly longevity. BDK should offer 30 ml formats because 100 ml is an exaggeration. If you like drunk rose this must be in your collection yes or yes.

The lemon in the initial notes is very strong. The rose is comforting, but the strong lemon makes this aroma produce an ecstasy in me. Once the lemon settles, you get smells of chocolate and tobacco. I absolutely did not notice any plum, cinnamon or patchouli. I suppose the cinnamon gets lost between the lemon, chocolate and tobacco. If I force myself to notice, I suppose I can smell a little cinnamon, but otherwise it is not noticeable. Towards the end, the powdery notes begin to smell bitter to me. I think this could be due to the cinnamon. After the bitterness settles, it turns into a pleasant sweet and powdery aroma. I was very eager to love it and it happened. Great aroma.

What a wonder this perfume is, when I heard it, I knew it had to be in my collection. It is a dense perfume in the opening, I note the rose and the plum, a mature plum, between sweet and acidic, together with the rose and an amber-like pollen touch. This lasts for at least an hour and a half, where gradually the subtle notes of cinnamon come out. After 3 hours comes the best, the chocolate comes to light, a dry chocolate, with the rose very, very subtle, soft, extremely exquisite and this is what at least on my skin is accentuated quite a bit. Touching on the matter of longevity, today I applied it to go to work at 11:00 am and now, at 12:00 pm I still feel the perfume on my arms, obviously bringing the nose close, but there it is, that very rich chocolate is very present which truly drives me crazy. The first 3 hours project one and a half arm lengths, then it stays at half an arm length, with a quite good trail. In short, I love it.

What a marvel! When I smelled it, I knew it had to be in my collection. It’s dense at first; I notice the rose and a ripe plum, between sweet and acidic, alongside a honeyed touch like pollen. This lasts at least an hour and a half, and gradually the subtle notes of cinnamon emerge. After three hours comes the best part: dry chocolate appears with a very subtle, soft, and extremely exquisite rose, which is accentuated greatly on my skin. I wore it today at 11am and at 12pm I could still smell it on my arms (bringing my nose close), with that rich chocolate turning me crazy. It projects a arm and a half for the first three hours, then half an arm, with good trail. In short, I love it.

I have a sample and I have liked it very much. Although I do not know if it is unique enough to make it part of my collection, as I perceive similarities with others I have. It is an aroma that comes out somewhat citrusy, due to the lemon, although the first time I heard it I thought it smelled of green tobacco leaves. Fixed with a very velvety, chocolatey rose and of course with tobacco. Something sweet, but not cloying. Excellent performance.

Well, it is curious what has happened to me with this fragrance… In the dry-down I loved it and thought it was a very singular rose perfume. A rose combined in such a way that although you smell it at all times, everything around it makes you forget it, in a way. It was a fine French confit cake of rose and chocolate, my best explanation. But when I tested it on skin… everything changed and it went from being my favourite BDK and being on my wishlist to leaving through the back door. On my skin I smell exactly what I hate about the rose note: a hyperrealistic, astringent and dominating rose. I did not like it at all. What a disappointment!

It is a play. Light and melancholy walking hand in hand. An Edith Piaf song. The rest spoke of their notes.

  • My impression of Tabac Rose is peculiar. The curious thing is that upon breathing in this fragrance, I feel it is an author’s perfume when it isn’t. To me, this liquid is very complex and develops in layers; in author perfumery, I believe complexity and memory are sought after. It has made me associate the scent of the opening with a good experience from some time ago… It is a perfume I notice in the first 15 minutes, evolving constantly. The first thing I felt was a sharp hit of a “pickled rose” and a woody hit of a very creamy, oily sweet lemon. Then they appear wrapped up (like when you stir coffee with milk with a spoon and it takes on a single colour). A mentholated chocolate accord appears, will it be the patchouli? The pink pepper and plum… they go and reappear as if they had been in the opening. This is absolute beauty, brutal and elegant at the same time. In the base, a just-right tobacco emerges, neither harsh nor sweet, blonde tobacco to my nose. A very creamy, pleasant, cinnamon-ladanum, with an earthy patchouli and a very light mint nuance. Finally, this is for me this great perfume: a freshly cut rose bathed with a squeezed mature lemon over it, while eating dark chocolate and then lighting a blonde cigarette, all at once. The longevity, projection and trail… I say nothing.
