One of the most enjoyable summer scents I’ve ever tried, although it’s no longer available. It was the fragrance that popularised tropical florals with a beach and suntan oil vibe. The story is fascinating: in 2006, Tom Ford was working with Estée Lauder, and following the success of Azuree, they launched the body oil Azuree Soleil, which had nothing to do with the scent. Due to the oil’s popularity, they later released the Eau Fraiche Skinscent, which was also a hit. The trouble began in 2007 when they split up and, due to legal issues, both products were discontinued. A few years later, Estée Lauder launched Bronze Goddess and then Bronze Goddess Soleil, which were very similar to the original at first, but were later reformulated. In 2016, Tom Ford released Soleil Blanc, which bears a striking resemblance to the original. And the circle is complete because in 2022, Estée Lauder acquired Tom Ford.
