  Carnal Lavender… I believe there comes a point where noses, beyond merely blending scents, unknowingly perform alchemy, encapsulating witchcraft in a bottle. While Ma Liberte might seem irrelevant compared to Joy, 1000, or Sublime by Patou, Jean Kerleo, the creator of those mystical treasures, drives collectors mad with his legacy. Both Patou Pour Homme and Ma Liberte share that lavender, sometimes using similar chords, creating a connection between them. Born in 1987 for women, it proves that in the 80s lavender wasn’t just a male domain; it’s a versatile herbal note that few refine so exquisitely. I’m addicted; I’ve tried almost all the old soliflores, even Yardley’s, but here they reach an absolute level. It opens with balanced soapy lavender, right between sweet and dry, with a touch of velvet dirt. The interesting part comes later: the lavender fits into an orchestra of vetiver, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It’s not the number of notes that matters, but how they amalgamate without any stealing the show. The cinnamon adds earthy sweetness, the vetiver green woody depth, and the nutmeg the necessary spice. The execution is flawless, taming even the shyly hiding patchouli and sandalwood. The lavender lets the band have its place, like in the drying phase. I’d wish for better long-lasting projection in the EDT, but I understand it’s due to the concentration; the EDP must be phenomenal. Lavender lovers or herbal floral enthusiasts, do not dismiss it, use it, and mark those sprays.
