Against all odds, I like it. Sandalwood isn’t really my thing, but here it doesn’t overwhelm. It opens floral and sweet, yet everything feels very powdery. It’s undoubtedly the house’s DNA. The composition is very wearable and interesting, well-balanced. Although it tends to be feminine, I love it. As it dries, a more woody and spicy tone emerges. Less suitable for heat, but good all year round. It should work for formal occasions. It performs and projects well.
Absolue d’Osmanthe is another thematic creation from Perris centred on the osmanthus flower. The main component is presented clear and crisp; smelling it, you can almost draw it in your mind. It’s monochromatic, with milky white flowers and a soft sandalwood that, like a rising sun, stands out against the white background with its apricot-like similarity. Once the initial effect wears off, it becomes monotonous and dull, leaning feminine with a silky aura. I liked it more than Daim Blond because the apricot doesn’t weigh as heavily, though less so than Fleur Nocturne; Perris’s version is finer and more elegant. The drawback is the performance: very skin-close and short-lived, which is surprising for this brand. There’s always the extrait version option, but at a scandalous price.

Osmanthus blends with resins to give a spiky, almost coniferous fruitiness. It smells like subtly acidic potpourris or hippie shop incense, like sniffing unburnt incense sticks. There’s a soft darkness trying to balance it, but overall it’s very light. The fruits aren’t sweet or boozy; they seem like toy wooden fruits without varnish, or the ghostly ones from Laura Gallego: you pretend to eat them but don’t actually eat them.
