Descripción

Memoir Woman by Amouage is a chypre fragrance for women. Launched in 2010, this composition was created by Daniel Maurel and Dorothée Piot. The top notes unfold with absinthe, cardamom, pink pepper and mandarin; the heart reveals frankincense, cloves, woody notes, rose, white flowers, pepper and jasmine; while the base notes settle on leather, French labdanum, castoreum, styrax, oakmoss and musk.

  • In one word: STRONG. It smells like an old perfume counter with aged fragrances, heavy on wood, incense, and concentrated spices. It is not bad; it is rich, but I see it more as a men’s scent. I detect no chypre notes; it is more of a woody oriental. Do not buy it blindly, not for the price (unless you are wealthy) and not for the scent alone. Memoir is complex, delicious, woody, masculine, expensive, and suited to cold climates.

  • Very resinous; I noticed it immediately on the skin with a medicinal touch. I asked the seller if it contained opopanax and he said it did not. It reminded me of the incense in Gucci I but darker and more muted, lacking that floral aspect which the Gucci possesses. It is not a beast in terms of longevity or projection.

  • Strong spicy opening; cloves and cardamom are the protagonists. Absinthe is also perceptible from the start and soon gains prominence. After a while, the spices calm down and give way to a darker phase with a classic floral bouquet in the background and green nuances from the absinthe. You can smell the incense without it being too smoky, and the leather. Here it feels more unisex. Then another phase arrives where the perfume becomes retro due to the animal note of castoreum. It is not very intrusive, but evident. The perfume feels dark with the floral bouquet giving it just the right sweetness. Finally, it ends like the previous phase but with the castoreum reduced. I see it for cold climates and although it is for women, a man can wear it without problem. Good projection and longevity. Personally I liked it, but I wouldn’t go to buy it. It is very changeable, with many nuances and high quality, but it doesn’t fill me enough to keep it in my collection. Nevertheless, a pleasant experience this Memoir.

  • Strong spicy opening with clove and cardamom as the stars. The absinthe is noticeable at the start before taking centre stage. After some time, the spices settle and a dark phase emerges with classic flowers, green nuances of absinthe, incense that is not too smoky, and leather. Here it feels more unisex. Then comes a retro phase due to the animalic castoreum note, evident but not overwhelming. It is dark, with flowers that add sweetness. It ends like the previous phase but with less castoreum. I see it for cold weather; although it is for women, a man could wear it. Good projection and longevity. I liked it, but I would not buy it. It is changeable, with many nuances and quality, but it does not fill me enough to keep it in my collection. Nevertheless, a pleasant experience.

Poetically, I could say it smells like… ‘incense submerged in a glass of absinthe (absinthe) with cloves of spice placed near a leather jacket’ or some other nonsense… But for me, plainly and simply, it smells like a smoke incense.

  • What a fantastic perfume. Nothing like its male namesake; this one is truly unisex despite the ‘Woman’ in the title. It is an amber composition, warm, floral, deep, and exquisite that puts a smile on your face. I am going to keep ‘stealing’ it from my wife.

  • What a fantastic perfume. It has nothing to do with its male namesake; that one is truly for men, but this, although it says ‘woman’, is completely unisex. An amber, warm, floral, deep and exquisite composition that puts a smile on your face every time you smell it. I will continue to ‘steal’ it from my wife.

  • Oh Amouage, how I love you. In this little bottle, I feel a lot of leather. The combination of notes is excellent. Typical of Amouage: the trail and longevity are everything you expect after spending more than $300.

  • Oh Amouage, how I love you. In this little bottle, I feel the presence of leather so much. The combination of notes is excellent. Typical of an Amouage niche perfume: the sillage and longevity are everything you expect after spending more than $300.

  • Memoir Woman is a modern chypre-leather with a retro character, magnificent. It combines the elegance and sensuality of an exuberant, dark oriental with the sophistication of a spiced, smoky leather. A masterpiece. An opulent, complex and mysterious personality. It opens with spicy, aromatic, herbal and citrus accords. Cardamom and absinthe enoble the opening, giving it a warm, enveloping character with freshness and contrast. The heart is dark, woody and spicy, dominated by incense which gives it a resinous and sacred dimension, covering a sweet, narcotic floral bouquet (nard, jasmine, rose) towards an extraordinary base where the flowers intertwine with animal accords (leathers, castoreum) in a symphony of amber and balsamic notes. Definitely a masterpiece. Warm, cosy, sexy, dark as its bottle, elegant and sophisticated. Excellent performance; on my skin it lasts 10 hours. Diffusion and sillage are moderate.

  • Memoir has a very strong opening: spices and a smoky scent, incense more leather (not animalic, very pleasant). Opulent, classic, with a retro 90s vibe, unisex due to the spices giving it a masculine touch. You can tell the quality; on skin it is oily. Then, after 15 or 20 minutes, a white floral bouquet emerges that adds to the leather and spices. After six hours, the moss arrives and that is when its chypre facet shines. It lasts more than 12 hours; it is a beast in terms of longevity. If the body heats up, the perfume blooms. This Amouage is excellent in cool climates. I recommend not buying blindly; try it first. In my case, I managed to get a decant which I will cherish, because in these parts of the third world, owning the perfume is expensive! 🫰🏻

  • Memoir has a very strong opening. Upon spraying, spices and a smoky scent, incense, and leather that is not animalic and smells very good. It is opulent, classic, retro, taking you back to the 90s. It is unisex; the spices give it a masculine touch. The quality is noticeable; on the skin it is oily. Then, 15 or 20 minutes later, a white floral bouquet appears, adding to the leather and spices. At six hours, the moss emerges and that is when its chypre facet shows. It stays like this for more than 12 hours; it is a monster in terms of longevity. If the body heats up, the perfume blooms. It would be excellent in fresh climates. I recommend not buying it blindly and trying a sample instead. In my case, I managed to get a decant which I intend to cherish, because in these parts of the third world, owning the full perfume is quite expensive.

A blend of vintage Poison and Bijan Woman, capturing that smoky dry-down of both: incense, oakmoss, a white floral akin to bitter orange (not the mandarin citrus), jasmine and a soapy, wet cardboard, old furniture smell. It is a mixture of vintage aromas. I already own Poison and Bijan; this is softer and with that blend, it is unusual and mysterious. I recommend it if you liked those perfumes and incense-based scents. Good quality, longevity and sillage. Perfect for autumn and winter.

  • Memoir Woman has immense character and a beautiful evolution. It features the house’s classic incense blended with rose, wood, leather, labdanum and spices. It reminds me of nothing else; a highly original and attractive profile with outstanding performance and quality. I strongly recommend it, but as with all works from this house, you must try it first as it can be challenging. Although it is an oriental, it is quite wearable, elegant and unique for those seeking something distinctive.

Brutal, original scent, humid, projecting florals, long-lasting, a luxury 👌

  • Memoir Woman has become my favourite perfume for freezing days and misty nights; it perfectly complements the aura of those moments. I have a 2014 batch, so I’m not sure if the current ones smell the same, but this is a work of art. Ideal for dressing in black to match its bottle, paired with wine-coloured lips. It smells like a beautiful forest witch or a vampire: sombre, imposing, ancient yet modern. It hits the right note; it isn’t a timid scent or a sugary one, it must accompany a certain personality. Simply love it 🖤🥀🦇
