Descripción
Fate Woman by Amouage is a floral chypre fragrance for women. This composition was launched in 2013 and was created by nose Dorothée Piot. The top notes unfold with cinnamon, pepper, red chilli and bergamot; the heart reveals frankincense, narcissus, labdanum, rose and jasmine; while the base notes complete the olfactory pyramid with frankincense, benzoin, vanilla, leather, castoreum, patchouli and oakmoss.

It’s floral, sweet without being cloying, slightly spicy, with a smoky touch. In the dry-down it’s powdery; it reminds me slightly of Guerlain. Perhaps because of the vanilla I think of Shalimar although they are very different; this one is aromatic, herbaceous with a slight medicinal aroma in the background. To my taste it has good sillage; I have it in mind for future acquisition.
One could say it’s the good version (and a bit more matronly) of Jaipur Homme. The truth is everything is very mixed, hard to separate notes. At first it has more freshness, even slightly effervescent, an effect I attribute to the incense, pepper and cinnamon. It’s not smoky despite what users say. In the heart phase is where it most doubts me; I don’t see it much for myself; I feel it very floral; it gives me a sensation of overwhelming carnation (just like in Jaipur which isn’t my taste, despite the fact that in this Amouage one feels quality, rotundity and presence). The deeper dry-down, without losing that previous tone, I like much more; it’s an oriental with patchouli that, despite not being my favourite note, doesn’t disgust me here when mixed with leather, castoreum and sweet resins. Performance is very good, without stopping smelling it; the official price is a joke.
This perfume reminds me of my beloved Shalimar; it would be the Arabic version of Shalimar, perhaps a bit richer as I perceive less leather, with that spicy touch of red chilli that Shalimar doesn’t have; perhaps it’s sweeter and less smoky, which is why I feel it’s more feminine, even more youthful, with a luxury bottle of course, but as for its trail, it’s the daughter of Shalimar.
What I smell most is red chilli, black pepper, cinnamon, incense, leather and jasmine, components that for a long time have always been mixed and smell to my nose; it’s a very special fragrance and being for women, I think it develops perfectly and very well on a man’s skin.
Miss, can you perfume me again? The atomiser of Fate was spreading that mist again that stuck to my neck, immersing me in a pleasant reverie, of dresses embroidered in gold, ivory silks that caress and comfort, like the autumn sun. It transported me to other times with its resins and incenses, a place I’ve never been but that feels familiar to me; for an instant I can be there. The scents have that therapeutic, renewing, evocative power so strong that no physical place or timeline is needed; everything is lost in that mist I asked the seller to pulverise again. I could die peacefully having dressed in this beauty 😛 Fate Woman is the oriental I like most from Amouage; I admit I’ve only tried six from the line (it’s very hard to get here). What does Fate have that the others don’t? To tell the truth, they all have incredible quality and use notes also found in Fate, but this one has all the ones I like and expect from an Arabic perfume, where the best incense and interesting spices/resides lie. Combined with the magic of their bottles with designs that convey culture, religion, ideals. Everything has a why, a reason, destiny as the force that drives our lives, full of uncertainties or answers. What we can or cannot manage is engraved in those prismatic colours, reflecting the most beautiful bottle from Amouage. Olfactorily, Fate is the direct daughter of Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium Vintage; the bond is noticeable; in fact, if we try them, the difference is subtle. Amouage’s quality is from before the restrictions or devaluations that big brands suffered with new investors who fractured because they were more interested in selling more than quality. Fate gives you all the splendour of Opium Vintage but more updated. While Opium goes more towards clove/wood with intense carnation and a smoky finish, Fate overflows with cinnamon, exotic incense, resins and florals (narcissus, labdanum) more noticeable, giving it creaminess. They share the same DNA, warm spiced oriental with incense, spices, resins, amber, animalic notes. Longevity is over 12 hours, with a powerful initial trail (I would apply with restraint), but if it’s too much it’s not unbearable. Luxury, Mystery and Sophistication.
I agree that the link between Opium EDP Vintage and Fate is clear… but they also have their differences; Fate feels drier. My words with caution because I didn’t quite understand Fate… I couldn’t connect… I never know whether to say it or not to influence… but I’ll tell you anyway. The reason for the exchange: when I tested it on my wrist, where the liquid fell, a rash appeared that itched for days… I attribute it to real cinnamon, perhaps irritating… and on the wrist the skin is different… I wasn’t daring to wear it… as it didn’t suit me, I preferred the exchange… so Jubilation 25 arrived and I’m happier than a lark!
Powerful opening, camphor aroma, very herbal and green; then cinnamon appears. After a few minutes it becomes powdery but with a lot of incense character. A fragrance with personality and excellent longevity. Reminded me of Calvin Klein’s Euphoria Liquid Gold. Not one of my favourites.
I know it’s difficult, but I’m looking for it in a hurry.
