Descripción
Acqua Essenziale Blu by Salvatore Ferragamo is an oriental fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2014, this composition was created by perfumer Alberto Morillas. Upon release, the scent unfolds with a vibrant citrus opening featuring lemon, Calabrian bergamot, and cardamom. The heart reveals herbaceous and woody elegance thanks to lavender, cyperus, and Atlas cedar. Finally, the base settles with a warm, woody-spicy accord formed by tonka bean, ambroxan, benzoin, and patchouli.

A true delight. However… in one hand I have the Ferragamo Blue and in the other Eros Versace EDT, and I notice very little difference between the two.
Everyone has a different olfactory experience. To me, this fragrance has some similarity with Armani Code, though it’s not the same. They share two citrus notes and tonka, but Armani has subtle anise, tobacco, and leather notes that give it a different path. I don’t like Versace Dylan Blue, and Eros goes in and out for me… I wouldn’t spend my money on them. I’ll add this AE Blue to my list.
DISCREET AND EFFECTIVE: I’m wearing it right now. At first, I liked it dry, then it didn’t seem quite fresh enough on the skin, but with continued use I’ve grown fond of it. It’s medium freshness; the bottle suggests something very fresh, but it isn’t. It tends towards citrus-aromatic with woods and lavender, eventually giving a powdery feel after 30 minutes. The interesting thing is that it reaches its best aroma at three hours, like a good wine: the powdery sensation (benjui and ambroxan) fades, leaving lavender and patchouli, which are fresher and cleaner. It doesn’t stand out in any particular way: it’s not the freshest, most woody, aromatic, or citrusy, but it has a great quality: the fixative. My skin usually changes perfumes quickly, but this has lasted over six hours with decent intensity on skin and well on clothes. It withstands sweat and its maximum potential is with body heat, ideal for hot climates and daytime use, although it’s not bad for night as it’s robust. It’s casual, formal, mature, for people aged 30 to 40. It doesn’t resemble Bleu de Chanel or Dylan Blue; the connection is the ambroxan, which is more pronounced in Ferragamo (dry/powdery touch), whereas Dylan is fresher at the start with floral and green notes, and Ferragamo has more lavender. The similarity is minimal; they don’t substitute each other. Recommended sprays: 5 to 7 on the body. Fixative: 9/10. Trail: Medium. Intensity: Medium.
Delicious, intense, very masculine and refreshing. Thanks to Alberto Morillas for this so Italian fragrance.
Bought it blindly as part of an online offer and I love it; I think anyone would enjoy it. Very rich scent, good longevity and projection.
Smells very similar to Dylan Blue, but I must say it’s much better. To me, Dylan smells of stale fruit with ambroxan, and those scents make me dizzy, although curiously Sauvage is my favourite. I wouldn’t recommend buying it blindly: it’s simple and may not suit everyone, plus its performance is quite mediocre. God’s plan 🦉
Bought it blindly online and, honestly, I’ve liked it. It has some resemblance to Dylan Blue and Sauvage, but I find it very pleasant and not heavy at all. The trail is good, although the longevity is a bit modest.
An underrated gem due to supposed similarities with Dylan or Sauvage, but I find neither of those appealing. It has its own identity: a mix of aquatic, slightly sweet, and citrus notes without being invasive. It’s a delicious and exquisite jewel, and its price makes it even better in terms of value for money.
A fragrance by the great master Morillas, very elegant and almost identical to the Bleu EDP by Chanel. One costs €25 and the other €95, but the Ferragamo version has better performance.
More potent, with better projection and longevity than Bleu de Chanel, though the scent itself doesn’t surpass the original. If you’re looking for a brand name and are willing to pay more, you’re safe; if you want to add a cheap, long-lasting ambroxan to your collection, this is the king. I find ambroxan difficult as it sometimes gives me a headache, but it’s enjoyable as it is. A great perfume.
I bought it this year and have worn it a couple of times. Today I overapplied it and it didn’t last more than three hours on my skin; I wonder if it’s been reformulated. What a pity because it smells lovely.
Very rich scent and totally worth the price. Smells very similar to Armani Code, perhaps a little fresher. Totally recommended.
An essential reference in the quirky collection by master Alberto Morillas. Ferragamo has a classic yet avant-garde line in the best Italian style; so far, an authentic work of art with unparalleled value for money 🤘🏻🔥
Simply extraordinary: versatile, pleasant, long-lasting, masculine, and it generates compliments. Nothing to do with the usual comparisons, 100% recommended, a unique fragrance.
Delicious and super versatile. It gave me good performance with excellent value for money.
I understand the comparison with Dylan Blue: the opening is similar (a hint of Bleu de Chanel too). But Acqua Essenziale Blu is much more than Dylan Blue in every way. It’s more masculine, less synthetic, and less strident than Versace’s. It’s more mature, ideal from 25 onwards. A blue fragrance, versatile for almost all seasons (I’d avoid winter or extreme heat), suitable for everything, liked by everyone, and good value. Lasts 5-6 hours. Recommended.
A true gem. It doesn’t smell like Chanel Blue or Armani Code; it has a bit of Dylan Blue but is more woody and versatile. I consider it elegant and masculine for when you’re well-dressed.
Woman’s opinion: I love it, fine 😂. It’s for a man to smell like this. I think it’s undervalued; its intoxicating aroma, the scented lavender, the measured freshness, and the woody base give it personality. It has great sillage and longevity. Honestly, it’s on par with the famous Bleu de Chanel, with nothing to envy and at a much lower price. Guys, it’s a total success!!!
I spotted it at Burlington in the USA, read the reviews, and bought it. Upon wearing it, I felt it was overrated: I haven’t received any compliments, sometimes it smells like talcum powder, and it just doesn’t fit. Perhaps my skin doesn’t take to it, or it’s not my style.
Finer than Dylan Blue, very rich.
Uff, very rich. The 50ml size is perfect for travel and the design is attractive. Bought in Chile for approx. €18. It has become my signature fragrance (although I own very expensive fragrances). Suitable for any season except extreme days of 33-35 degrees. It doesn’t last too long: 2 hours of sillage, 5-6 on the skin. But it’s so cheap that you can reapply as many times as you like. Exquisite aroma for any event: office, going shopping, even at night, although it’s not sweet. Not formal, don’t use it for something important because it doesn’t fit. Super easy to wear, fresh. Don’t apply too much; if you overdo it, perhaps you won’t notice, but the people around you will. I’m going for another bottle.
A few months ago it didn’t make an impact on me and I wrote a review here. Well, things have changed: now that the weather is cooler, it seems to complement very well, smelling delicious with a rich contrast, until I fell in love with it.
A somewhat generic men’s aroma, but with character nonetheless. Projects well for about two hours, then only close to the skin. If you want a perfume for day-to-day wear in spring and summer, this is an option.
What can I say about this perfume? Exquisite and economical. If you’re looking for something versatile or a signature scent, this is it: ambered, aromatic, and clean. Longevity and projection are within the average range; a forgotten gem.
A blue fragrance in the Versace style, with almost no freshness, smelling strongly of dried herbs, ambroxan, and woods. On a hot day it becomes somewhat heavy. But it’s good; the aroma is rich and enjoyable. In terms of longevity, it asks nothing of its expensive sisters, standing at the level of any blue costing $50 or more. Projection is normal, leaning towards mediocre, but due to the longevity and aroma (if it’s not very hot), it’s worth it. I have doubts about repurchasing: there are days I love it and days I don’t.
Perfect blue fragrance for a signature scent, where quality and price prevail. I give it the three B’s: Good, Beautiful, and Cheap.
Absolute exquisite. I live in 30°C heat, and on a cool day it’s an absolute beauty for $25. It trades originality for character, and style for simplicity without losing its standout appeal. After all, since Bleu de Chanel, every perfumer has wanted to harvest its ‘blue fragrance’; few have achieved it so well for such diverse houses as Don Alberto Morillas. Peace.
This summer 2024 I tried the Acqua Essenziale Blue by Salvatore Ferragamo. The top notes are citrusy: acidic lime and bergamot, but the cardamom softens them, preventing them from being sharp and adding a warm, spicy touch. Then, with the woods, the citrus becomes woody alongside lavender, creating a slightly salty, clean aroma. As it dries down, the woody citrus with lavender and that distinct note of sea water persist. The vanilla tonka and benzoin sweetness feels very light, almost imperceptible. It’s for spring and summer, day and night, in casual events, especially near the sea. It could work for formal events, but there are blues better suited for that. It could be an office signature in those seasons, but on my skin it’s more for marine freshness than seriousness. Longevity is 4-6 hours, with the last few hours only close to the skin. Projection and sillage are short, very intimate, and recognizable only in close encounters. It’s economical and a good option to make the most of in spring and summer.
It doesn’t quite convince me… the scent is pleasant and the bottle is beautiful, but it feels flat and synthetic. Although fresh at first, that artificial sensation lingers; as it evolves, it turns sweet and sharp due to those synthetic citrus notes. It bears a certain resemblance to YSL’s Nuit de l’Homme, but is more citrusy and synthetic. I’d say it’s for people up to 25 years old; in this price range, there is far superior olfactory quality, such as Boucheron Singulier in a versatile fougère style, which outshines it by a mile.
Decent aroma, ideal for the office or enclosed spaces: rich scent without being attention-grabbing. Soft and slightly sweet, suitable for daily wear with average longevity. For the price, there are better and worse options available.
It smells good, very masculine, and is a safe option for everyday wear, almost a signature. It’s original, though not obvious, having arrived before others that mimic this scent. The downside is it doesn’t last long: strong for a few hours and then soft. If reapplied, there’s no problem. You can detect the cedar, citrus, ambroxan, lavender, benzoin, and a well-made tonka bean. I got it at half price and liked it, though I’m not sure if I’d buy it again; perhaps better as a gift. For now, I’m enjoying my 50ml. Ideal for summer/spring and daily, semi-aquatic. Scent: 8/10, Versatility: 9/10, Price: 9/10, Quality: 8/10, Design: 9/10, Projection: 7.5/10, Longevity: 8/10, Sillage: 8/10, Duration: 6.5/10. Total: Well-deserved 8.5/10.
What a lovely blue fragrance, totally recommended.
The opening smells good, but in the dry down it reminds me of wet baby wipes.
It’s like Dylan Blue but without the incense smoke that annoys it and makes it smell older. Here in Acqua Essenziale Blu, that smoke isn’t there and lets everything shine, giving a masculine and versatile fragrance. I regret it’s generic and doesn’t surprise; this can already be smelled in deodorants, soaps, and shampoos.
I’ve worn it for just two days. The scent pleased me and reminded me of Dylan Blue. It seems mature but versatile. It has intimate and discreet projection, but I would have liked more. I’ll let it macerate for a couple of weeks to see if it improves. For now, I recommend it only for the smell.
It’s a fresh, aromatic oriental fragrance with a mentholated touch and a sweetness that makes it very versatile.
I’ve had a bad experience with tonka bean and now it gives me nausea with that note. This perfume has the tonka bean very marked in the dry down. The opening smells a bit vintage, like a classic cologne, with none of the promised citrus or brightness.
I agree with others: it smells like baby wipes or blue fabric softener. It projects almost nothing and lasts 3-4 hours. It’s for men aged 40 to 60, exclusive office use, nothing for parties. It can be worn day or night in spring, but the price is high for what it offers. Decent quality but very linear. Dylan Blue is superior. Overall, I don’t recommend it; it bores me and smells too conservative. 4.5/10.
As a fan of fresh blues and this is by Alberto Morillas, I expected more. I agree 100% that it smells like a wipe or talcum powder. I feel it lacks soul, personality, projection, and longevity. Smelling clean can be done well, but this doesn’t stand out and loses all interest in under five minutes. People compare it to Dylan Blue due to the amber opening, but Dylan has personality and gives it ten times. It’s not unpleasant, but it’s mediocre; the most generic blue I know.
It’s an underrated blue scent that, in my opinion, should be in the historical top tier, yet many people overlook it. Created by Alberto Morillas, it competes with giants like Sauvage or Bleu de Chanel. It smells of a clean, crisp man, ideal for the office or campus. If you’re over 20, it’s perfect for everyday wear. Citrusy, sweet, and soapy, it’s very versatile.
