I quite liked this version: fruity suede leather, fresh, mixed with something that could be pineapple but greener and herbal, plus that thick part which might be musk. I own both versions, the identical bottles: Awaan Moss (more unisex) and this dark Ameed (for men). I doubt it can be compared to Clive 1872; I tested them on each hand and they are very different. Perhaps Clive has astringent, heavy bergamot that clashes with the amber, labdanum, and leather, whereas Ameed is suede leather, green pineapple, herbal, tangerine peel, and sometimes a thick marine note. I washed my hands with soap and used only water to remove the perfume; hours passed, and at the final dry-down, after scraping and re-washing, they drew closer but remain very distinct. Do not buy expecting it to smell like Clive 1872… NO! In fact, it smells closer to Cerruti 1881 Signature at the start and Trussardi Riflesso Blue Vibe at the dry-down due to those notes. Still, very good performance, original, nice bottle, and it earns compliments. Mine is from the United Arab Emirates, not the made in India version, just in case.

Smells incredible, totally different from anything I’ve tried. It’s a fruity leather that’s rich yet easy to wear. Giving it 10/10. Lasts 7 or 8 hours on the skin with a trail for another 2. Highly recommended; it’s one of those scents that opens your eyes at first sniff.

I’ve been wearing it for several weeks and frankly it hasn’t been what I expected. It wasn’t expensive, came in first-class bottle and box, but the scent didn’t appeal to me. I’ve never received a compliment; the spicy part is too prominent, the pineapple isn’t really pineapple but spices, it’s very noticeable, and after a couple of hours it stops projecting. Although you can feel the leather at the base, I’ve never perceived leather this spicy. There are many better options from Lattafa, so I wouldn’t recommend it.

I have worn it for weeks and frankly it is not what I expected. It did not cost a fortune, and it has a first-class bottle and box… but I did not like the scent; I have never received compliments. The spicy notes are too strong, the pineapple does not smell like pineapple but like spices, it is very noticeable and after a couple of hours it stops projecting. Although the leather is felt at the base, I had never perceived such a spicy leather. There are many better options in Lattafa; I do not recommend it.

Do not be misled by the fruity notes; it is not 100% summer wear, but rather for between seasons and daytime. As it dries down, the leather takes over with a soft fruity touch, but not as bright as it seems (that mature suede predominates). The pepper and a slight musk add seriousness. In short, it does not win people over at first sight and is not youthful; I toned down the intensity of that leather which, together with the pepper, adds a sense of ‘darkness’. I do not see it as essential as there are more varied aromas in Lattafa Pride. I recommend testing before buying. Projection is normal for the brand, and I am still assessing the longevity.

In summary: leather with citrus. I love it; it gives a sense of luxury proper to leather, it is sexy and suits those aged 28 to 30 and above. There are few things on the market that offer this aroma at this price.

  • Only because I read the notes carefully would I buy it blind, but be warned: it is not an easy fragrance. As soon as I applied it to my skin, I did not like it; it smells intensely of shoe polish and stays that way for hours… luckily I only bought a decant to try it.

  • I’d buy it blind just from reading previous reviews, but beware; it’s not an easy perfume. As soon as I applied it to my skin, I didn’t like it; it has a very potent shoe polish smell that lingers for a long time. Fortunately, I only bought a decant to try it.

  • It reminds me of a very hard-to-find classic, Clive Christian 1872. I own the Clive Christian inherited from a relative and it smells exactly like that. It’s not a 100% match, but it is heading in that direction. Excellent Al Ameed fragrance for the price.

I won’t judge whether it smells good or bad; if you enjoy Arabic fragrances, go ahead. This is very suited to cold climates, quite heavy and long-lasting. The claim that it is inspired by Clive Christian 1872 must be a joke, because Clive Christian is fresh, whereas Al Ameed is leather and wood; they have nothing in common.

Bought it blind and loved it; it has a moderate trail, lasted 6 hours on the skin and 3 hours of projection.

Rich, masculine and warm fragrance, perfect for evening wear or cold weather. The mandarin, pineapple and black pepper stand out initially, followed by a genuine animal suede leather; very well constructed and excellent quality for the price. Reminds me of the 90s, and I would have loved to see something like this in Zara’s ‘Vibrant Leather’ range.
