Beloved Man by Amouage is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2013, this composition was created by Alexandra Carlin and Emilie Coppermann. The top notes unfold elemi, grapefruit, cardamom, orange and pepper; the heart reveals saffron, lily root, geranium and jasmine; while the base settles on cedar, leather, vetiver, musk, guaiac wood and patchouli.

Beloved Man by Amouage is simply spectacular. Perhaps the best oriental I have tried (soft for an oriental and Amouage, but that makes it more welcoming, versatile, and sensual than any other). There isn’t such a huge difference in refinement with my favourite, Opium pour homme by YSL, but Beloved has a distant air to it without sharing notes. It is a richer, more complex, and luminous Opium, whereas Opium is simpler and darker. In its evolution, it is one of the few complex perfumes where the components are distinguished. Careful: on blotter at 3 hours it smells fresh, but on my skin, if I sweat, that freshness disappears almost completely. It is for special occasions and cold or temperate climates; heat corrupts its essence. The sillage and longevity are moderate. If Opium was sensual, Beloved is EXTREMELY seductive, with great unisex and even feminine potential. Will it please everyone? This perfume is pure good drug, a journey. It takes you to a colossal party, happiness and peace, or a romantic night in the Middle East. Immerse yourself in illusions and honour perfumery as art.

  • It is a fragrance that blends the best of several worlds, without being common but rather very current; that touch of deep, sweet woods with a bitterness of cocoa pod and vanilla recalls Dior Homme Intense but softer, like L’Instant de Guerlain and also a Valentino Uomo. A thread connecting the best of current designer perfumery.

  • Tami Franco’s opinion is very spot on. I would say Beloved Man is on par with Reflection Man: they are Amouage’s most accessible and versatile men’s fragrances, not overly marked in projection or sillage, and you don’t notice the incense because it’s not even there. I see it for semi-cold or semi-warm seasons, not extremes, as the longevity isn’t strong; on my skin it lasts 7-8 hours. You can detect geranium, grapefruit, elemi, and sandalwood, then the cardamom in the heart gives that sweet, spicy touch, the most linear part. At first, it smells metallic and citrusy, but at 4 hours with the cardamom, flowers, and sandalwood, that is when it shines. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t buy it; I used two 2ml samples that came with another purchase. I recommend it to those seeking oriental and very masculine fragrances. Longevity: 7.5/10 Versatility: 9/10 Projection: 7/10 Longevity: 7/10 Quality: 9/10 Sillage: 7/10 Scent: 8/10 TOTAL: 8/10

  • Certainly, it is good, but at that price I need something to fall in love with, and that is not the case. For a while, the elemi predominates with that dry, spicy, and soapy olibanum smell. With the hours, a base of mainly cedar with touches of musk, patchouli, and leather takes precedence… This base tires me a bit and I see it as a bit prefabricated; I do not know if I can explain myself but I understand, hehe. It is a mature perfume, correct, very typically masculine but a bit boring for me. It has good performance.

  • Another Amouage I like. Possibly the house that, without creating true masterpieces in every perfume (though Reflection could be one), has the best range in blending, quality, longevity, sillage, and scent. All are notable. Beloved is one of the most pleasant perfumes I know, without being a wonder. Everyone likes it, though there will always be someone who won’t. As @uhm says, it is resin (elemi) with citrus (grapefruit), then other notes come in, but the base is that and it stays throughout. It is very pleasant, not tiring, not disappearing all at once; its phases succeed with smooth and elegant transitions, without abrupt jumps, everything is a continuum. These are typical characteristics of the house. My last test was on an almost spring-like winter day, sunny with 25 degrees. It behaved well, lasted 8-9 hours, and the sillage was perceptible for 3-4 hours before dropping on the skin. I don’t think it is for summer, but for transition seasons or mild winters. It is used for any situation: work, friends, date, or walk. It is very versatile, one of the most in the house. It is not a wonder that makes you smell your wrist every two steps nor causes addiction, but it is very wearable, pleasant, liked by all, and versatile.

  • Another Amouage I like. Possibly it is the house that, without creating true works of art in every perfume (although Reflection could be one), has in my humble opinion the best range in terms of blend, ingredient quality, longevity, trail, and scent. All are, at the very least, notable. Beloved is one of the most pleasant perfumes I know, without being a wonder. Everyone likes it; well, there will always be someone who does not. As @uhm says well, it is resin (elemi) with citrus (grapefruit), then other notes come in, but the base is that and it manifests all its longevity. It is a very pleasant fragrance, not tiring, not disappearing suddenly, its phases succeed in a well-managed sequence with smooth transitions, no abrupt jumps, a whole elegant development continuum. These are typical characteristics of the house. My last test was on an almost spring winter day, sunny with a maximum of 25°C. It behaved very well, lasting 8-9 hours making itself felt, with a perceptible trail for 3-4 hours, slowly decreasing until the skin. I do not think it is for summer, but for transition seasons (spring or autumn) and perhaps a mild winter. It can be used for any situation: work, meeting with friends, romantic date, or a walk. It is very versatile, one of the most versatile in the house. As I said, it is not a wonder, it does not make you fall in love, it does not make you smell your wrist every two steps, it does not cause addiction, but it is very wearable, pleasant, liked by everyone, and very versatile.

The first time I thought I had bought camel urine in a bottle; afterwards I adapted and wondered why I felt that way, seriously I searched for where the pee was because I couldn’t believe it. A scent that tells me nothing; I like the bottle more than the aroma. It has good longevity and moderate projection, but it is not worth it. A disappointment because I had great hopes; I want to believe it is a high-quality clone: the scent is not complicated or generic, but it does not offer anything. Rating 7/10.

  • Amouage Beloved Man is, in my opinion, one of the three easiest fragrances from the brand. In the opening, it maintains a fresh/citrusy part and an amber/resinous part, like an archetype of a cologne with deep oriental depth: a very clean and creamy incense, something sweet that evolves into a very tanned leather (almost soapy) with musky and woody nuances. It develops quite a bit and I think I am more of a fan of the first 30 minutes than of how it settles ultimately. It has the Amouage stamp, lasts and projects as one expects, but in my opinion, there are others I would prefer. On my skin, that citrusy part which made it perfect for the heat and so distinctive drops significantly, leaving a purely musky base, with patchouli and notes of woods and resins. Note: 8.5 for the first half-hour, 6 for the dry-down (it is not bad, but it is painful to know it does not hold as I would have wished on my skin).

This perfume has an intense opening; it reminds me of Creed’s Viking; I perceive it as mentholated and spiced. It has character and marks a presence, but after a few hours that intensity fades and leaves a softer aroma, almost powdery at the skin level. Originality 8/10, Projection 7/10, Longevity 6/10, Price 5/10. I would not buy it again.

  • An Amouage where the quality of the ingredients is unquestionable, but it did not convince me to buy it. It smells clean and aromatic. The opening is citrusy and dries down maintaining a powdery, woody, and floral blend accompanied by musk until the end.

  • Wordless, what a beast of a scent! For me, this is the best Amouage, surpassing even Enclave (which I’d rate a 6) and Reflection (I went through two bottles and loved them, but this is superior). Yes, at €300 it was the price that brought it to my collection, but every penny spent was worth it. The opening is spectacular with rich orange and cardamomo, and the dry-down is another world: sensual, elegant, and masculine. It takes my breath away. Lasts 10-12 hours, potent yet not as invasive as Enclave; with this, you make your presence felt, your presence is guaranteed. Very versatile, suitable for almost all seasons. A total luxury. Scent 10/10, Longevity 9/10, Projection 9/10, Price 8/10.

  • PERFUME POWER! I find this Amouage spectacular; I love that it doesn’t follow the line of Interlude or Epic, which I also have, but maintaining the extremely high quality of the house. It is woody, masculine, soapy, elegant, and very versatile, perfect even for summer if it’s not too hot. You will call me crazy, but I tested Reflection Man on one arm and Beloved on the other, and in the end I went home with this Beloved: better and superior to Reflection and its hype. I am not the only one who thinks this. It is a “hidden gem” of Amouage, one of the most occidental of the house, an exquisite luxury and I am delighted it is part of my collection. The performance is magnificent: it is not an Interlude in projection or sillage, but it remains a perfume with which you make yourself noticed and your presence is guaranteed. Longevity 9-10 hours. SCENT 9.5/10, PROJECTION 8/10, SILLAGE 8.5/10.

  • Impressive, brutal, and a beast of a scent with a capital B! It is very wearable, versatile, refined, elegant, and masculine. The opening is top-notch with rich cardamomo and grapefruit; the quality is undeniable. It sits beautifully on the skin, it is an Amouage that makes you go out with a smile on your face. Lasts about 10 hours on the skin and the dry-down is excellent. I loved it and that’s why I bought it; it follows the line of Reflection Man but for me, this is better, as other enthusiasts indicate.

  • What a beast! This Amouage is spectacular. I love that it doesn’t follow the path of Interlude or Epic, which I also own, yet it maintains the brand’s extremely high quality. It is woody, masculine, soapy, elegant, and very versatile; I see it as perfect even in summer if it’s not too hot. You might call me mad, but I tried Reflection Man and this Beloved on my arms, and… this one won. For me, it is better and superior to Reflection and its hype. It is an ‘Amouage staple’, one of the most Western scents from the house, an exquisite luxury, and I am delighted it is in my collection. The performance is magnificent: it is not an Interlude in terms of projection or trail, but you make your presence felt and your presence is guaranteed. Lasts 9-10 hours. Scent 9.5/10, Projection 8/10, Trail 8.5/10.

  • Words cannot describe it.. PERFUME POWER, for me the best Amouage. I have Enclave which is not bad and I give it 6 for scent, but for Beloved I give 10. I have used two bottles of Reflection, a great perfume, but this one seems superior to me. Yes, they follow a similar line, but now I prefer Beloved. 300 euros brought it to my collection, but it is worth every euro. It has a spectacular opening with rich orange and cardamom, and the dry-down is out of this world: sensual, elegant, and masculine. Longevity is another strong point, powerful but not invasive like Enclave; with Beloved you make yourself noticed, your presence is guaranteed. It lasts 10-12 hours and is very versatile, for almost all seasons. In summary: a luxury. I recommend it fully. Scent 10/10, Longevity 9/10, Projection 9/10, Price 8/10.

  • Impressive this Beloved, I find it brutal, a powerhouse but very wearable and versatile. I find it very refined, elegant, and masculine. The opening is brilliant with rich cardamom and grapefruit, the brutal quality is noticeable. On skin it smells great, it is an Amouage that makes you go with a smile. Longevity is very good, around 10 hours, and the dry-down is excellent. I loved it and that is why I bought it; it follows the line of Reflection Man but for me this is better. As others indicated, they follow a similar line.
