  • Smells like a classic, clean, and elegant man, without falling into the ‘fruity’ trap; perfect for autumn as it’s potent yet not overwhelming. Given the price, it should be on every collector’s shelf. It’s like the Massimo Dutti line but with more punch.

Crossmen doesn’t produce awe or leave a personal mark, but it has the power of those simple fragrances that boost initiative and give a sense of security and comfort. I use my splash bottle without measuring, and the overuse isn’t dangerous; in all its phases it maintains a kind, docile, and stimulating character. This juice of pineapple, grapefruit, orange, and nutmeg is a glorious walk to the beach. A warm swaying of waves on a fresh March morning. A shimmer of effervescent light. A footprint in the sand that reappears and disappears in a dance of freshness, sweet, citrusy, and salty. A Mediterranean aromatic melody. A glorious swimmer in a midday sea between waves and foam, touched by an orange and yellow ray of sun, embraced by a gentle spring breeze.

  • Crossmen has been giving us its fresh, spicy sporty vision for men since 1989, and it’s still sold today in a decent, enjoyable version that hasn’t turned into perfumed water like others. It holds a place of honour in chemists at an incredible price, mostly in 200ml. Cacharet got there ten years early with ‘Pour Homme’, sparkling and crystal clear, which set the popular taste in the 80s when the coupe or sporty style was trendy. This fragrance has a sturdy structure, masculine yet effervescent, with a delicious opening loaded with orange, then it breaks with nutmeg and relaxes into a soft woody base. It’s no longer in fashion, but certain values are eternal: green, spicy masculinity with a thirst for fun and freshness. It smells classic but not dated, manly yet sporty, offering aftershave sensations with the passion of an eau de toilette. It offers a lot for little. Very good projection at the start, then it softens after the first hour and has excellent longevity for its league. With that dry, electric orangey touch, it achieved what the longed-for ‘Rasgo’ by Puig couldn’t. Highly recommended, I’d say essential.

  • A classic fragrance for everyday life, no dramas or pretensions, for those who don’t want to complicate things when smelling good. I’m talking about the current Crossmen. As someone who’s used it for years (and I already have a few bottles), the drop in concentration has been brutal. Now it’s a bathwater cologne; before it was a proper bomb. You’d splash a little and smell all day. Now it lasts a mere breath. I’ve heard gurus say it lasts over six hours… surely they have old bottles. Otherwise, they’re lying outrageously.

It’s one of the few that truly smells like bathwater, a classic cologne from another era. No old-man vibe; a young person could wear it without issue. Although it doesn’t have the potency of before, they haven’t diluted it down to mere water. The longevity is acceptable for the price. I see it as classic yet timeless, very masculine with a sporty touch that wraps you in soft comfort. It’s for smelling good without pretensions.

Having read the Fragrantica reviews, I decided to make a blind buy and must thank the authors, as I am extremely satisfied. I’m not usually a fan of pineapple, but here it works perfectly; while it is clearly identifiable, it is also subtle. It’s as if in Crossmen’s opening, the pineapple note acts as the conductor, making the whole composition a fresh, delightful citrus. As the perfume develops into something soapy and supported by a bed of woods, the pineapple continues to softly wrap around the other notes. A simple and effective delight. For me, it’s clear this is a product designed for the wearer’s enjoyment. It certainly doesn’t aim to be the kind of fragrance that invites those glances and compliments so many people seek, but for an observant person, who can perceive the good feelings it produces in the wearer, it won’t go unnoticed. Yes, I personally find it geared towards a male audience, but I won’t be the one to discourage anyone from trying it. I am very happy with this purchase.

Plunged into a blind purchase after reading Fragrantica reviews and I haven’t regretted it for a moment. I’m not a pineapple fan, but here it’s subtle and elegant, like a conductor putting the whole ensemble into a fresh citrus mode. As it evolves into something soapy with a woody base, the pineapple still looks after the other notes. It’s a simple, effective delight made for personal enjoyment. Perhaps it doesn’t seek attention or compliments, but for someone who appreciates good feelings, it won’t go unnoticed. Yes, it’s for men, but I’d recommend it to anyone. Very pleased with the purchase.

  • I like to collect fragrances and have a special affection for vintage ones. I wear Crossmen and Cool Water from time to time to be at home; my wife loves them. It would be perfect if it lasted longer; I know it has a ridiculous price and you can take a spray to replicate it, but that’s what we don’t want. The only drawback is I haven’t heard of a best mode; a normal 4-hour performance would be perfect and surely the price wouldn’t be scandalous. Fresh, spicy, masculine, and that subtle but present pineapple… It seems like a scandal for self-indulgence and truly, women like it, at least my wife. I hope they make a positive reformulation of this marvel.

  • When my father passed away, I found this perfume in his bathroom while clearing out his things. Used to the niche world and adjectives like ‘bold’, ‘risky’, or ‘rebellious’ at prices over €50, seeing him happy with a citrusy, linear scent at just €6 made me smile. A 2013 batch that survived temperature changes in the bathroom and, despite being ten years old, still smells wonderful. How long does it last? A little on my skin, but immense in my memory.

  • I used to wear it my natural sciences teacher in secondary school; we always wanted to know what he was using… we knew he was arriving because his trail reached us metres before he appeared with his white lab coat. Years later I bought it and keep buying it. I consider it more masculine than unisex but I like it. It’s clean, vintage, and for its price: a must-have.

  • Smelling it is like travelling back in time to the happy days of childhood, with that beloved figure who is still here or has passed on, yet returns to your memory every time you bring your nose close to the bottle. In Spain, it was the signature cologne of grandfathers, uncles and dads, alongside Jacq’s, Brummel and Massimo Dutti back in the 90s. Masculine, sweet-herbal and woody, versatile and timeless, suitable for any season. Nowadays it feels slightly more diluted than before, more like a fresh-shower home fragrance or something to wear when heading down for bread, but nothing that needs to last more than a couple of hours as it fades quickly. I forgive it. It is a total personal indulgence. Easy to find in perfumeries and supermarkets; the 200ml bottle sells for just 8 euros. A ticket to travel through time for merely 8 euros…

In these times of cruel reformulations, of pure and hard business, of perfumery anti-romanticism consisting in eliminating mythical fragrances from the face of the earth for the well-worn excuse that they don’t sell, it is to be appreciated that Crossmen remains among us and does so in such an exemplary way. Obviously, it is not the same in terms of potency as the one born in 1989 to enchant a whole generation of men (and women) with its marked fresh and spicy character oozing masculinity from every pore. But what does it matter. It is still not far from that original. For me, the scent (which is the most important thing in a perfume) is the same, and its performance remains very worthy. When I see it on the shelves of perfumeries at less than 7 euros for 200 millilitres, I can’t help but feel my stomach shrink to the size of a grain of rice and quietly thank Coty for still manufacturing this timeless masterpiece. As the gentleman before me rightly said, smelling it is like travelling back in time and finding yourself close to the people in your circle who wore it back then, or to yourself if you wore it in those happy days that have already passed. Fortunately, we still have a handful of fragrances that achieve that effect and which, at least in my case, have much more value (and not just on an emotional level) than others that cost ten, twenty, or thirty times more.

Well, the other day I stumbled upon this perfume at Druni and, seeing the price of £6.95, I didn’t hesitate. I’m from ’84 and smelled it in the ’90s when my uncle wore it almost all the time. He’s a beekeeper, and when we went in the truck to change hives, he always carried a bottle of this great fragrance; after working, when we showered, we sprayed ourselves on it because literally there’s no pump and it all comes out in a stream. Nostalgic and fun. Anyone seeing it on the shelf won’t think twice; they’ll love it because time doesn’t pass for this fragrance. It even has a hint of that pineapple from Aventus. Buy it!

It’s heartwarming and fun. Anyone who sees it on the shelf shouldn’t hesitate; it won’t disappoint, quite the opposite, I think they’ll love it because it seems to stand the test of time. It even has a hint of that pineapple note from Aventus. Buy it! Haha

Brutal. I’ve been wearing it since I was 20 and it’s incredible. It won’t be the most sophisticated or the one that brings the most compliments, but it’s fresh, suitable for daily wear (even at night), versatile, elegant, masculine, and cheaper than a sandwich. A bonus is that it’s quite unique; I haven’t smelled anything similar among perfumes costing 100/200/300 euros (perhaps due to non-premium ingredients), so if you’re young, no one will smell the same. In autumn and winter I get more out of it as it fades quickly with the heat in summer, but I use it mainly as a fresh morning cologne. By the way, my girlfriend loves it and says it makes me look serious and attractive.

  • Alejandro Luis

It’s a marvel. A timeless scent that everyone likes: elegant, masculine, and fresh. It has character and the longevity is brutal for this price; it’s unbeatable. On my skin it projects for about two hours, then becomes a personal bubble for another two, and can still be detected until seven. Impossible for anyone not to like it.

  • I paid just £7 for 200ml and found it strange. I smell it and absolutely love it; I let anyone else try it without mentioning the price and they love it too. So, why that price? It’s classic yet very accessible. It doesn’t last forever, but at 0.035€ per centilitre… I rarely recommend specific perfumes as every nose is different, but with this one, I don’t even think twice. You’re just waiting to buy it.

  • pitopitogorgorito

Absolute madness for the longevity of this Crossmen at such a bargain price. Very few last this long for this cost, and it smells 100% masculine with no synthetic notes. It would easily crack the Top 10 list for good-looking, handsome, and cheap men’s fragrances, outperforming others that cost much more and then disappoint.
