  • It’s the watery version of Jazz. With the original discontinued, L’Oréal released La Collection, which is a reformulation. It’s less bold and potent, but retains the Jazz spirit, just more ‘watery’. It has a moderate sillage and lasts around 6-8 hours.

  • I find it hard to describe the pyramid. I don’t know the original version, but I’ve liked this one. It’s a serious, mature, herbal, spicy and woody scent, but with enough lightness to stand out among perfumes that are difficult to wear due to their strong personality; perhaps it’s influenced by the fact that it’s a bit airy, it’s not a hammer at all.

  • I struggle to describe the pyramid. I don’t know the original but I have enjoyed it. It is serious, mature, herbal, spiced and woody, yet light enough to stand out without being overbearing. Perhaps it helps that it is a little airy.

I don’t own the original; I bought it blind and liked it. It smells of a serious, determined man, without any mysterious games. It conveys elegant, sober masculinity, decision and confidence. I wear it on fresh days or in winter. Wearing it makes you feel like a man of substance, a boss, master of your time and space.

  • What a fantastic fragrance! Of course: it’s for those who can’t stand today’s delicate skin scents. For real men, serious ones, who project maturity, savoir-vivre, and security. Traditional values. Completely versatile. A true gem.

  • What a perfumazo! Of course: it’s for those who can’t tolerate today’s fine skins. For real men, serious ones, who project maturity, savoir-faire, and security. Traditional values. Completely versatile. A jewel.

The description by @DavidCovidfield (a little further down) fits almost to the millimetre with what I feel. It begins with a very well-crafted coriander, fresh yet not overpowering, caressing the senses and leaving a feeling of calm well-being. That vibe doesn’t fade; it holds thanks to a lovely geranium and the rest of the notes, which, although you could identify them one by one, it is in the blend where they truly shine. The dry down is beautiful, clean and serene, with that standout touch of cypress. Indeed, it evokes maturity, temperance, masculinity, sobriety and a relaxed elegance, kind and nothing showy. The longevity and projection are moderate for my taste, but I’m not objective because I’d wish they were eternal. If the original was better, it hurts that I arrived late. I highly recommend trying it.

As @DavidCovidfield says, it’s well-done cilantro in a fresh opening that caresses and gives well-being. That sensation is maintained with a beautiful geranium and the set of notes shines as a whole. The dry down is clean, calm, and with that striking cypress. It evokes maturity, temperance, sober masculinity, and a kind elegance, nothing opulent. Duration and projection are moderate, but I wish they were eternal. If the original was better, it saddens me to have arrived late. I recommend trying it.

  • Manly and mature. It’s a refined 80s fougère, no gender debate. This is MANLY! It highlights the opening: smells like struck phosphorus (cilantro or other ingredients). That spectacular opening disappears to leave a perfume like Azzaro Pour Homme, more refined and which I liked more than the original. It has no sweet, vanilla, or spicy notes as the website says. Lasts about 6 hours, moderate but constant projection. It’s serious, for the man focused on his task. It vibrates like Azzaro or Bogart but with that unique phosphorus touch. It’s not for louts, but for forties, fifties, or civil servants. It’s expensive in Argentina, but it was worth it.

The original Jazz had marked florals and tobacco, a classic fougère of mastery. This isn’t dated, but it has a style that new releases lack, so be careful buying blind. The collection allows you to know that myth, but it’s more discreet, less dense, like a painting losing its colours over time. The reissue is pleasant, lasts a few hours on skin, and lacks the magic that made your heart beat before. It’s a clean spice, dry woody, evolving into green and sweet florals. Result: dry, fresh, barber shop, with appeal despite the reformulation. A great memory of another era. Should I buy it?

  • Fresh, elegant, and with that modern vintage touch that really stands out. Perfect for the office or a formal event with a shirt and watch. Reminds me of Blem shoe polish but more stylised. It’s a fresh, spiced scent with a woody base; the green note is there, but without the oak or pine moss found in classics like Polo Green. It’s a reduction of the original Jazz. Strong projection at first (60cm), dropping to 10cm with a trail. Lasts about 6 hours on skin and until the next day on clothes. If you’re looking for vintage formal without the waste, this is your option.

  • It is a fresh, elegant, mature, formal and masculine perfume with a vintage essence but with modern sparkles. Ideal for events, the office, a good shirt, a nice watch and a professional outfit. In certain facets it reminds me of Blem shoe polish, but in a more stylised way. I mainly perceive it as fresh and spicy, with a light woody base. The green aromatic is present, but not as in classic vintage: it doesn’t smell of hard oak moss or marked pine needles like Polo Green; it’s totally different. The notes are listed on the side of the bottle and it is a reduction of the notes from the original Jazz. The projection is strong at first (60cm), then drops to about 10cm but leaves some trails. Longevity is around 6 hours on my skin and on clothes it can last until the next day lightly. If you’re looking for something different and formal, this is an option that can be used without waste.
