A super light EDT with a clean, serene joy, though it lacks longevity—more like a cologne. It smells more citrusy than aromatic, and I don’t detect the mango. I love it for being fresh and green; perfumes often overwhelm me, and I prefer this style. It costs €9 for 200ml with a spray at Druni (sometimes sold at Mercadona without a pump). What a pity it doesn’t last, but at this price, you can reapply whenever you like. In short: a friendly 90s EDT for daily wear, making you feel fresh, optimistic, serene, and youthful after a shower.

Another cologne from my childhood and adulthood, with its song still in my head… ‘We are, we are, we are’ Chanson D’Eau… A fresh fragrance ideal for completing your routine after a shower, with a calming touch. Although it seems simple, the basil and cardamomo give it personality and an unmistakable scent that not everyone will like. It doesn’t have much sillage, but I can smell it hours later right on my skin; I sleep and wake up wearing it. It stays the same from start to finish, without evolution, perfect for spring and summer. Totally 90s, far from being sweet and fruity—that’s its charm. Even the splash takes you back to another era…

  3. I was almost a teenager and its advertising was everywhere. One day my mum brought samples from her shopping: The Three Sisters drunk on perfume. What a beauty, freshness, and vitality! For my nose, which wasn’t yet seeking mature fragrances, having it was exciting, but our finances didn’t allow it. We were in a rough patch, lower-middle class. The problem is that if you don’t catch them when they’re on sale, you’re out! Now I think I can afford it (I have my own income), but it’s not marketed in Argentina. A real pity!

  4. Ohhhhh… what a beautiful fragrance. Fresh and economical, yet with notable note complexity. It made me feel young, beautiful, and fresh. I had it for years until they discontinued it. What a sadness because I loved it.

Fresh, pleasant, uncomplicated. A charming fragrance without pretensions but elegant and long-lasting. It is summer in capital letters.

Returning from the beach with sunburnt skin, taking a cold shower, and lying on the terrace listening to the sea with a good book and Chanson D’Eau so fresh and full of positive energy—it relaxes me and accompanies me while I read and sleep. A summer with another, many years later, and for me it remains the same. It’s one of those summer colognes you wear all the time; it has strength and personality, making me feel fresh, clean, and giving me well-being as I notice its coming and going in bursts. It’s spicy, a lavish amount of cardamom and jasmine, very green, slightly bitter; my daughters say it ‘smells like plants’, with a sweet touch from the fruits and pleasantly woody as it settles, the sandalwood adding elegance. Longevity is acceptable for an EDT and very economical; it could be sold by a major brand for five times the price and still fit, but it’s quality at a good price to apply generously on hot days. A delight!

Returning from the beach with sun-kissed skin, a cold shower, and then lounging on the terrace listening to the sea with a good book and Chanson D’eau so fresh and full of positive energy—it relaxes me and accompanies me as I read and drift off to sleep with its comforting fragrance. One summer after another, countless years, and to my taste, it remains exactly the same. It’s one of those summer colognes you wear all day to cool down without getting tired of it; it has strength and great personality. It makes me feel fresh and clean, and I feel a great sense of well-being noticing the ebb and flow of its scent in bursts. It’s spiced, a lavish touch of cardamom and fragrant jasmine, very, very green, slightly bitter. My daughters say it ‘smells like plants’, yet at the same time it’s a little sweet due to the fruity notes and pleasantly woody as it settles, with sandalwood adding an elegant touch for my taste. The longevity is more than acceptable considering it’s an eau de toilette and very affordable; a major brand could easily sell it for five times the price and it would still fit, but luckily it’s a quality fragrance at a good price to apply generously and cool down on the hottest days. A delight!

  8. I bought it a little on a whim for something fresh and economical, and I like it more than expected. It smells green and revitalising. At first, I only noticed freshness and cleanliness, like after a summer shower, but with daily use, I start to distinguish the herbal notes with lavender and the floral ones, a bit sweeter. It’s linear, but it smells wonderful. It has good longevity. It makes me think of sunny days, sea breeze, green and blue colours.

Has anyone reviewed the original Chanson D’Eau and not the reformulated one by Coty? Edit 2023: I myself have the vintage Astor version in perfect condition! Quick comparison with the Coty one (current and mega-reformulated). The only thing that improves is that it lasts a bit longer (miracle). The notes that distinguish it remain the same or similar (I’m not a perfumer, so I don’t know if they changed or synthesised them). There’s something fresh and green with a pleasant synthetic roll that makes it distinctive, but the original version is much more ‘real green’, natural, and special. Don’t compare a leaf with a synthetic one, no daughter no XD. ‘Smells the same’… well. It seems the same, but with an original 90s bottle and a current one, you see a big difference, not just in the aroma but in the bottle, the lettering, the colour. It matters to me, it’s not definitive, but it matters that they change the beautiful into the insipid. Before it was more elegant, classic, giving the sensation of being less cheap, pampered, and more ‘natural’ both in smell and looking at the bottle and box. I wouldn’t put the current bottle on my bedside table, but the vintage one would :_) Now I have the oval tin with embossed leaves, lovely things they no longer make. The bottle with uneven, curved letters like ribbons, the dark cap, all very vintage and romantic, like its mythical song. It’s my second favourite of the Chanson line, battling for first place with Chanson de Nuit. The least popular Chanson d’Air stays out of my favourites, but it has a unique vibe not heard nowadays; its caramelised touch isn’t my favourite. I know my review is random, but I hope to have shed some light and that the gentlemen at Astor are crying over their mythical jewel being profaned :_)

  10. What beauty, what nostalgia, what a pleasure to remember Sally Oldfield’s voice singing ‘Mirrors’ in the advert. It was one of my first colognes and has returned to my hands with open arms. It smells like bath foam 🛁. Just as aldehydes tend to smell like 🧼, Chanson smells like the after-scent of using it with hot water. It smells like ‘home’, cosy and slightly refreshing. Reassuring. The calming sensation after rubbing your skin with a soft natural sponge 🧽 full of foam carries the imprint of Chanson d’eau. We are, we are, we are chanson d’eau.

Chanson d’eau was my companion at university. Dynamic, fresh, and with that touch of orange leaf that transports me to the garden at home beneath the tree. It’s super versatile and I miss it so much because it hasn’t been available in Argentina for years. Please bring it back so I can continue enjoying it!

For me, it will always be the Eau parfumée au thé vert (Bvlgari) of the working class in Spain 🙂

  14. Does anyone know where to get Chanson d’eau in 2021 in Argentina? Or can it be ordered? I haven’t seen them here for almost 15 years. I love all three along with Chanson d’air and de Vie; they bring back memories of secondary school and my friends. We all used the same ones… but now I can’t get them 😔

  15. It’s a cologne that smells wonderful, taking me back to when I was a girl and we went to the municipal pool in the summer. It smells fresh, green, and youthful, like a holiday. The problem is it doesn’t last at all; I only smell it when I apply it and two minutes later it’s gone. It’s not suitable for outside, but for home it’s worth it given the size and price, although Heno de Pravia is better. Update 20.12.21: I’m still using it in summer and autumn; in autumn it has more presence and smells clean. I’ll buy it again for winter.

  18. It makes me feel in a waterfall surrounded by aquatic plants; I used it in my adolescence and it smells super good (you must like exotic talcum-herb blend aromas). In Mexico it’s discontinued.

A rich and fresh scent of green and citrus, as if you were taking a bath under a waterfall surrounded by exotic plants. It’s a very clean and fresh aroma, even long-lasting.

  21. It brings back memories of my adolescence… in summer it was my mother’s fragrance, although I used it too. It’s a very fresh and recognisable eau de toilette, at least for those who wore it in the nineties. Today in Spain you can find it online at ridiculous prices and I’d love to enjoy it again in summer. It’s not tiring and, although I haven’t smelled it for years, I remember its scent perfectly. It’s fresh, clean and endearing, probably due to the memories. It’s green and barely citrusy, certainly due to its heart and base notes. For me, a spot-on eau de toilette.

  22. I love it after a bath. I live in Argentina and it’s not available here; a relative brought it for me and then a friend. I have one unopened. I used to wear it in my teens, it’s super refreshing for summer and I adore it.

It’s a very fresh and easily recognisable eau de toilette, at least for those of us who used it in the nineties. Nowadays in the UK you can find it in online perfumeries at a ridiculous price, and I wouldn’t mind enjoying it again in summer. It’s a fragrance that doesn’t tire you, and although I haven’t smelled it in years, I can perfectly recall its aroma. It’s fresh, clean, and endearing at the same time; perhaps this is due to the memories it evokes. It’s green and barely citrusy, certainly due to the heart and base notes. For me, a perfectly correct eau de toilette.
