L’Occitane isn’t as popular in Mexico, but their products are of excellent quality. Eau de Cedrat distils naturalness in its ingredients and vibe. Upon application, you feel a citrus top note thanks to the Corsican cedrat, distinct from any other citrus, with a subtle pleasant sweetness. In the heart, there are touches of nutmeg that blend well with the woody base of the cedar. Their fragrances are natural and artisanal; the quality is evident, sacrificing a bit of longevity in exchange for not drenching you in chemicals. It’s good for Spring/Summer or hot weather, leaving a refreshing, clean, and elegant sensation. A good quality/price option for a young audience aged 15 to 25. Since they have a whole line with this scent, their performance could be improved by using a combo of gel, deodorant, and fragrance.
I tried it today at the boutique on my island, and the longevity is extremely low. I understand it’s an Eau de Cologne, but not that it lasts less than an hour, even on the skin. Here it is 28–31°C with high humidity, and these fragrances are ideal for such aggressive weather because they don’t clash with sweat and fulfil their purpose, but they disappear literally in about 45 minutes, not even on the skin. I rushed home to analyse the notes, but when I put my nose to my arm… nothing. The strong points are the quality of the raw materials, the exquisiteness of the scents, and the range of associated products. The downside is the low longevity and sillage; it forces you to layer the fragrance (soap, creams, etc.), and they even have roll-ons to reinforce it. There’s also a lack of originality and an intermediate price point. But if you like citrus, herbal, or floral fragrances for hot climates, enjoy wearing white or fresh fabrics, and want to radiate sophistication, don’t hesitate to get the full line and use the layering method. Unisex, for very hot climates, home use, and over 30s.
At first, it smells fresh and energetic, almost sporty, but then it mutates into something oriental with a metallic hint that reminds me of Avon’s Black Suede Leather. That note disorients me; I feel an unexpected and unpleasant jump into another fragrance family.
Very good, though it doesn’t last very long. It smells very similar to Real Cedrat. It’s recommended to use body lotion before applying the fragrance.
I don’t know what’s wrong with L’Occitane. First, they remove one of the freshest fragrances I’ve ever tried (Verdón), and then they release this exquisite scent with a longevity that makes my stomach ache just thinking about it. I paid 1,300 MXN for something that doesn’t last an hour and have to carry the bottle around just to keep smelling it. I bought two, and they lasted no more than four months. It’s common for this brand to charge a premium for products that last only two or three sprays. Although I like their products, I won’t be buying from them again. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 2/10.
I’m not sure if it’s that attachment to citrus-woody vintage scents, but it reminds me of Dior’s Eau de Sauvage, just more modern.
