Descripción
Guanabo by Renier Perfumes is an aquatic floral fragrance from the olfactive family, launched in 2021, designed for men and women. The nose behind this composition is Miguel Matos. The top notes unfold with bergamot, petit grain and lemon, with a touch of acidic lime; the heart reveals calla lily, also known as muguete, alongside passion fruit, jasmine and rose; while the base notes settle on sea algae, marine notes, ambroxan and leather.

Guanabo is undoubtedly a safe bet for spending a summer at full throttle and full of conquest. Renier’s new proposal alongside master Miguel Matos further enriches the Taino line. Alongside its sisters Behique, Cacique and Habana 500, Guanabo has arrived with a character of freshness, summer elegance and irresistible seduction. My compatriot Renier keeps raising the bar. Anyone wanting to stand out and walk through life smelling as God intended now knows the magic name is Renier Perfumes 💯

I didn’t like it. My first impression was of intense, almost stale and heavy flowers and herbs (although I like flowers and herbal notes). It reminds me of freshly cut grass. Perhaps it would smell better on a man’s skin, but as a woman, I prefer others. It even reminds me of Carat by Cartier, but this would be a softer, sweeter, and easier-to-wear version, although it really isn’t. I tried it in the discovery set, but I definitely won’t buy it. Although I do have some fragrances from the Rain line in my sights.
I like Renier fragrances, but not with Guanabo. Longevity and projection are very good, but its powerful citrusy and herbal opening sadly reminds me of a floor cleaner sold here. Perhaps in other countries it’s novel, but here it is like that. After six hours, it changes and the expected marine notes appear, very similar to BVLGARI Aquamarine but better structured, more realistic and natural. However, the projection is very low, almost skin-scent, lasting 1 or 2 hours before disappearing completely.
Jimmyvrod anticipated very well what also happened to me. Guanabo is by no means a bad perfume, but at first it has something astringent, and upon drying, a seaweed-like and plastic sensation that doesn’t quite convince. It starts very sparkly, like a sea wave crashing, with a mineral touch and fresh green seaweed, not salty. There is a herbal component that gives it depth, but the marine notes and that effervescence last until the end. However, the seaweed becomes somewhat plastic; they aren’t synthetic, as some dry in the sun and give the same sensation, though it still doesn’t fully convince me. It fulfils as a different, summer, complex and evolving perfume, but in my line I prefer Pacific Rock Moss or Seahorse by Zoologist, which I believe are better in all their lines except for performance, which with Renier is always excellent. Unisex, for heat and casual situations, I recommend trying it if you like fresh, marine perfumes with that beach feeling. Note: 6.5/10 Sample from Cruz & Valencia, Chile.
Jimmyvrod hit the nail on the head regarding what happened to me. Guanabo isn’t bad, but its opening is astringent and its dry-down has a seaweed-like and plastic sensation that doesn’t convince. After waiting for the heat and challenging myself with Behique and Cacique, I ventured into this creation by Miguel Matos. It’s the last of the Taíno+Turkey set I wanted to try. I left it for last for a personal reason: it mixes two notes I don’t like, lily of the valley and marine accord. The opening is very citrusy and astringent; the bitter petitgrain lasts a while until the heart with the bergamot’s acidity, where that lily slap hit me. If it weren’t for the fruit, I’d be washing my skin. It’s a salty white floral phase; the jasmine is barely noticeable, it’s green. The marine notes dominate the entire life like a wave: a high peak of seaweed at the start, declining in the heart and hitting again at the end. At four hours, the trail dropped and only the marine afterimage remained with ambroxan, sweet and juicy passion fruit, and light floral touches. It’s not a bad perfume, but it’s nothing to my taste. For warm weather, unisex. Moderate projection, excellent longevity.
Just tried it and went straight to the shower. What a horror. I’m a fan of Renier, but this takes the crown for the worst marine scent.
Imbalance in the seaweed note, very heavy, I couldn’t handle it, although Renier always brings quality, exclusivity and originality. Not for me.

Love and hate with this one. It smells like the shoreline where rocks trap seaweed until it’s almost rotting, mixed with a sharp marine note. I love the sea and live on the coast, but this won me over. There are strange moments where I think of waves crashing against rocks. If you like smelling like Bill Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean after rubbing himself in piles of seaweed, it’s for you. Olfactory experience 10, quality at the top. Stellar performance on my skin, although it wrinkled the faces of people nearby on paper. Sincerely, I think almost no one will like it, but it blew my mind and made me rethink my perfumery world.
This smells exactly as its name suggests: Guanabo. The Caribbean has beautiful and ugly beaches, and this is one of the ugly ones. I ordered a decant because it doesn’t smell like Varadero. In one word: it smells like a dirty beach. I can’t handle it; the seaweed scent overpowers everything. It’s not for tastes, it’s for smells. Do not recommend buying blindly.
I was looking for a summer perfume and bought a marine beast similar to the kraken (I don’t know how to spell it). It opens with a critical lunge of lemons mixed with semi-wet seaweed and a cold or fresh sensation (probably the ambroxan) that reminds me of a cleaning product I can’t quite identify now. Then you note the floral mix along with passion fruit. I find it very sensual and dare to say something animal too. It lasts a long time on the skin and trail: more of the same, richly for over 10 hours, yes, because we know how Miguel Matos spends his time when he gets into his laboratory. For me, who likes challenging perfumes, it has been a success. It’s very fresh, gives you a boost and makes you smile when you go out into the street wearing your kraken. Hahaha
Summer perfume? Buy a marine beast like a Kraken. It opens with a sharp hit of lemons mixed with wet seaweed and a frozen freshness (ambroxan) reminiscent of a floor cleaner, though I’m not sure which one. Then comes a floral-fruity medley with passion fruit, very sensual and animalistic. It lasts incredibly long on skin and trail: richly for over 10 hours, thanks to Miguel Matos’s talent in the lab. For those with a challenging palate, it’s a hit. It’s fresh, gives you a boost, and makes you smile when you step out with your Kraken.
Always fresh proposals from Renier. If you’re looking for something generic like Tommy Hilfiger, forget it; this is pure personality. It evokes a real Caribbean summer: beach, fruits, herbs, and seaweed. On my skin, it evolves beautifully, with every burst feeling new and transporting me to the coast. It starts fresh and fruity, then shifts to herbal-floral after half an hour. The seaweed note is handled with mastery; it doesn’t dominate but accompanies perfectly. Performance and projection are excellent. Totally unisex. Congratulations for escaping the commercial mould.
