Descripción
Musky Rain by Renier Perfumes is a fragrance from the musky floral woody family, for men and women. Launched in 2023, this olfactory composition was created by nose Renier R. Mendez. In its opening, the fragrance unfolds top notes of lychee, black pepper, rose, and bergamot. The heart of the composition reveals a bouquet of narcissus, ylang-ylang, Australian sandalwood, and jasmine. Finally, the base notes settle with a foundation of musk, civet, benzoin, amber, and vanilla.

Renier’s packaging always makes you feel special: a sturdy box lined with satin fabric with engraved lettering and a postcard featuring the inspiration painting. The bottle is identical across the entire 50ml range, only changing the liquid colour while maintaining that elegant and familiar seal. It’s old-school vintage: at first, it smells of macerated flowers with a fruity syrup sensation and an animal base. The opening isn’t easy; I think it’s for mature or older palates. The development has good performance, highlighting the flowers, especially the ylang-ylang which seems to float around you. It makes me imagine a walk through a romantic gallery with mysticism and distinction. The trail and longevity are long, unisex, better to try it to avoid disappointment.
As always, Renier offers supreme quality, but this doesn’t shine on my skin: the animal notes, especially the civet, make the ylang-ylang sound very realistic, almost rotten like a ripe flower in Cuba, and give me a migraine. I don’t detect the narcissus note due to the heavy animal character on my skin. I know it will be a delight for vintage animal lovers, but I’ll pass and prefer other scents from the brand that I adore more.
In the heart and base notes, the ylang-ylang takes charge. A good perfume. As for value for money, I believe it is one of the best in the brand’s range.
I hate the initial dry-down (still), but the dry phase is on another level: these are the fragrances that repel you at first, but eventually become so addictive that you keep coming back for them.
