Good morning, everyone. This fragrance is unique, perfect for cloudy days. It brings back memories of walking down the street: pineapples, oranges, and mandarins on sale, a shop grinding coffee, then another with cocoa and chocolate. In the end, all those scents stick to your clothes and linger on your nose. The perfumer captured those sensations and bottled them. Scent 9/10, trail 9/10, longevity 9/10. Excellent!
The perfect perfume, period! It’s Havana, the romantic and wonderful version. From its vices to its laid-back optimism, everything is in harmony. It tells a story with a passionate evolution; every day is a different experience. Sometimes I feel I’m in a wooden and leather tavern facing the Malecón with the sea breeze. My friends and I are having coffee with milk, piña coladas, mojitos… chatting, laughing, being happy. I’m fascinated by it as a woman, and on a man it’s super sexy! Ideal for any occasion, it’s a chameleon. You can tell it, people compliment you, everyone loves it. And the longevity… pfff, as I tell my friends: a lifetime and three reincarnations!
It’s a less lactonic and cheaper sibling than Havana 500, leaning more towards the sweetness of peach and moving away from the mint of the previous one.
It’s a Havana 500 sibling, but less lactose-heavy and more affordable, shifting towards peach sweetness while leaving the mint of the original behind.
Delicious fragrance, a type of ‘flanker’ of the limited edition Havana 500 from the Taino collection (by Daniel Jossier), which Renier improved and placed in the ‘Rain’ collection, making it more accessible. ‘Asere que bola’ is a street greeting like ‘what’s up’, so this perfume is another tribute from the artist to Cuba and its neighbourhoods. It starts with fresh, almost aniseed mint, moves to coffee with milk (a typical Cuban breakfast before the communist disaster), part of the Havana 500 DNA. They repeat the three notes, but here there’s more weight. As it evolves, a bright, juicy pineapple with a fruity touch, honey, alicora, and a bit of chocolate emerges, a delicious yet fresh gourmand note. Creamy sandalwood with vanilla and amber nuances joins in. I see it as usable all year round, although it shines more in spring and autumn. In short, delicious and it steers clear of the animalic notes and recurring ouds of the house.
“And I am happy because I am a giant. I love a fair woman, whom I love and who loves me without asking for anything… or almost nothing, which is not the same but is equal.” Havana is dark and cheerful at the same time. It has a solitary chocolate that doesn’t turn monstrous like other fragrances when accompanied by praline, caramel, or tonka bean, but instead comes of age with liquor, coffee, and a citrus, green, and spicy touch. It takes a fictional journey to an old, dusty restaurant that serves good rum, while tropical sea air, warm but breezy, drifts in through the door. Terribly intense, it enveloped me in its cloud with just two sprays, trapping me and preventing me from smelling anything else for over five hours. Then a descent begins, woody and barrel-aged, with the scent of the shyest cacao barely sweetened. The projection is kilometre-long; colleagues noticed it from two metres away and complimented me, which was a strange and new sensation because I never seek that in a perfume, and I don’t even know if I’d want to hear it again… I’m shy. Thank you, Renier… it was worth every peso. The box, the painting it’s inspired by, the bottle, everything is a precious artistic experience.
A delicious fragrance that acts like a ‘flanker’ of the limited edition Havana 500 from the Taino collection (by Daniel Jossier), which Renier (in my opinion) improved and incorporated into the ‘Rain’ collection, making it more accessible. The expression ‘Asere que bola’ is an informal, street greeting like ‘what’s up’ or ‘que onda’, so Havana Rain ‘Asere que bola’ is another tribute from the artist to his native Cuba and neighbourhood expressions. This composition starts with a fresh, almost anise-like mint note that transitions into milky coffee (a typical Cuban breakfast before the communist disaster); this forms part of the Havana 500 DNA as they repeat the three notes, but this composition is richer in notes. As it evolves, a bright, juicy pineapple appears, adding its fruity part to the ensemble, which also has a honeyed, barrel-aged, and slightly chocolatey touch—a total delight with a gourmand point that keeps it fresh. The ensemble is joined by a creamy sandalwood with vanilla and amber traces; I see it as perfectly usable all year round, though it will shine most in transition seasons like spring and autumn. In short, a delicious fragrance that moves away from the animalic notes and those recurrent ouds from the house.
And I am happy because I am a giant. I love a fair woman who loves me without asking for anything… or almost nothing, which isn’t quite the same but is equally so. Havana is dark and cheerful at once. It has a solitary chocolate that doesn’t become a monster like other fragrances do when paired with praline, caramel, or tonka bean, but instead spends most of its time with liquor, coffee, and a citrus, green, and spicy touch. It takes you on a fictional journey to an old, dusty restaurant that serves fine rum, while tropical, warm, and breezy sea air drifts in through the door. Terribly intense, it wrapped me in its cloud with just two sprays, trapping me and preventing me from smelling anything else for over five hours. Then the descent begins, woody and barrel-like, with the scent of the most timid cacao barely sweetened. The projection is kilometre-long; my colleagues could smell it from two metres away and complimented me, which was a strange and new sensation because I never seek that in a perfume, and I don’t even know if I’d want to hear it again… I am shy. Thank you, Renier… every peso was worth it. The box, the painting it’s inspired by, the bottle, everything is a beautiful artistic experience.
To my taste, it smells like a man: it keeps the essence of Naxos but with a darker, more masculine air.
I’m no guru, just a fanatic, and for me, it’s pure bliss. It’s enjoyable at every stage of its evolution.
