Homage is one of the most beautiful fragrances I have ever smelled, possessing a transcendent beauty rather than the erotic appeal most people prefer. It is a pure oriental scent, one of the true orientals I have tried alongside Amouage, Montale, or Serge Lutens. Unlike classics such as Cartier’s Egoiste or Santos, which are oriental but not truly Arab, these niche houses travel firsthand to the East to create their perfumes. In Homage, everything revolves around three notes: rose, sandalwood, and oud. Amouage handles the oud subtly, nothing like Montale’s intensity; it is one of the finest ouds I have ever tried. It is expensive, but as it is an attar, a single drop lasts a long time, and since it is not very versatile, you use it for longer periods. It is for special occasions only, and those $350 for 12ml is more economical than 100ml of generic colognes. The best time to wear it is during the intermediate seasons. A masterpiece, thoroughly recommended.
It’s hardly surprising there are few reviews; this is an expensive, exclusive gem. It’s an attar, meaning a 100% natural fragrance with an oily base, super concentrated, and free from alcohol or chemicals, rooted in India and very common in the Arab world. It typically blends wood and florals, and this Homage is on another level. In my opinion, nothing can be added to it; it’s unique, delicate yet powerful, with oud, rose, and sandalwood leaning it towards the feminine. It’s already discontinued, so you’ll surely find bottles on second-hand websites. The 2ml sample I bought cost me over €10 and lasted weeks. Imagine what it’s for… special occasions.
