  • It was my first perfume I bought with my own money, and I remember it clearly: 1,600 pesetas, no spray, and had to be applied like aftershave. I poured it out with great care not to spill it, as it was so precious to me back then; I recall saving up for weeks to get it. What lovely memories it evokes, if only I could return to those wonderful years. It was a soft, very soft fragrance, woody, sweet and spiced. As far as I remember, it was like an Egoiste Platinum in its final dry-down, very diluted, which back then smelled divine to me; every time I wore it, the girls from the gang would compliment me, yes, from the gang, because back then we went out in groups, haha, though nowadays that’s hardly seen. The longevity and sillage were very weak, lasting at most two hours and no sillage at all after half an hour. I keep it in my collection because sentimentally it means more to me than as a fragrance in itself, but I would love to smell it again, although it’s hard to find and when it does appear it never drops below 40€, and at that price I’m more interested in current fragrances I’m currently hunting for.

  • This last review reminded me I had a bottle of this Irium somewhere, so I applied it this morning. It’s a very refined scent, a blend of citrus and wood with a herbal touch that lends it elegance. It’s perfectly balanced and of high quality. It’s crisp, formal, and radiates good taste; it could easily pass for a niche fragrance. Its main drawback, as the fellow mentioned, is its poor projection: it’s barely noticeable at first, then sits almost right on the skin. Even with a generous application, I can still smell it after six hours if I bring my nose close. Its performance in projection and longevity is abysmal and takes points off, but it’s exquisitely constructed. Rating: 7/10.

  • Oh, Darkbeat, the gangster king…;) I picked it up at a market stall for just €3 and absolutely adore it. It brings my wife memories of when we were courting, even though I never actually had that girl. It was my Massimo Dutti, Cacharel, Joop, Paco Rabanne, Puig Vetiver, and my beloved, now discontinued, Trussardi era. Perhaps it’s a blend of all of them. Simply exquisite, I must say.
