Descripción

Toy Boy by Moschino is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by perfumer Yann Vasnier. Its top notes of pink pepper, pear, Indonesian nutmeg, elemi, and bergamot deliver a vibrant and playful opening. The heart reveals a blend of rose, clove, magnolia, and flax that adds depth and character. Finally, the base notes of Haitian vetiver, cashmere, sandalwood, Sylkolide, and amber close the structure with a warm, enveloping woody finish.

  • I liked it. At first, it opens spicy like tamarind candy, but after half an hour it dries down to floral roses like a florist’s shop; I perceive it as soapy. It lasts and projects very well once dried, fading to leave that soapy floral scent for 3-4 hours and 6-8 hours on skin. Ideal for evening wear, perhaps autumn and winter.

  • A bold and magnetic perfume that mixes pink pepper and juicy pear with a heart of spiced rose and magnolia, over a sensual base of vetiver, sandalwood and amber. A modern, intense and provocative floral-woody, for those who dare to stand out.

  • Out of my 40 perfumes, this son of a gun is my girlfriend’s favourite. I don’t understand how it can be someone’s signature. I wouldn’t recommend it for daily wear; it has a particular, unidentifiable air to stand out. No cheap, trendy sweetness. Toy Boy is an innocent bear full of darkness and bad intentions. The bottle is well thought out: a good boy with a dark side. It’s floral but not too much, woody but not too much, spiced just right. I recommend dressing up because it carries a lot of personality. I don’t see a girl wearing it. It’s masculine, autumn/winter, ideal between 18 and 30 years old. A little gem not everyone is ready to appreciate.

  • I gave it many turns to decipher it. I still don’t know, but I think in three chords: floral, bubblegum and spices. The floral is a mix of rose and whites with a chewy texture and musk, with peppery notes that subtly dirty it. Reminds me of Sillage at the start. Pure mystery, a different experience, a great perfume that stays in the memory.

  • Late review after heavy use. Is it that rare? No, it’s usable but not conventional. Does it smell like a mausoleum? Dark yes, elegant and sexy. It doesn’t smell like death. It’s a niche at designer prices, different and not for every nose. My wife loved it straight away; I put it on and she immediately wanted to make love. I recommend it.

  • Toy Boy: loved and hated. It was love at first sight. It’s for confident men who don’t doubt their masculinity. It drives women crazy; it clings to the skin of whoever you touch. One day I ran away and my leather jacket was so saturated I had to clean it a month later. It makes any niche smell like dirty water. Some people are offended by the bottle… How are you, my glass generation? Buy 100% if you’ve got your trousers on straight.

  • I gave it a chance and it surprised me. It doesn’t smell like tamarind as they claim; to me, it’s floral, mysterious, dark and potent. It doesn’t want to be another Aventus or a Blue. It’s different and presents itself as such. Definitely not for everyone.

It is one of the fragrances that have received the most praise from me, with very good presence. If you wear it, you will be noticed. However, do not buy it blindly. I tested it in a shopping centre and then decided to buy it months later when it was on a good price. It is not for everyone; it is love or hate. I like wearing it very much because I always feel it, and that gives me confidence. Recommended.

  • Not for everyone, especially not for those who only wear One Million or Born in Roma. It’s different, characterful, a proper delight.

  • It’s a must-have that breaks the mould of what people usually smell. I bought it blind because of the hype; at first, I was repulsed, it smelled like cemetery flowers, but then it blew my mind. I’m addicted. It smells like juicy tamarind, even if they don’t say so. It’s unisex; my girlfriend loves it. Lasts 12 hours with 5-6 hours of projection. Worth it if you want something different and with personality, somewhere between designer and niche.

  • To be honest, this perfume must be one of those cases to study in depth. How mixing such different ingredients can make the whole smell like something none of its parts do. There is no rose; I do not smell that. Nor oud, nor almost any of the notes listed on Fragrantica. It smells of prepared tamarind drink. It smells very tasty and juicy. Fresh at all times, even five hours after drying. And it lasts… it lasts so long you can’t believe it. Essential to have in your collection if you are attracted to that scent profile.

  • Between tamarind and sandalwood, Toy Boy is polarising: you either love it or hate it. The opening surprises with an acid-sweet tamarind touch, a vibrant start that disorients and seduces. The rose blends with cashmere, evoking Santal 33’s sandalwood, giving it a sophisticated and ambiguous air. As time passes, it becomes a scent of sweaty skin and sandalwood, intimate and carnal. Each stage has distinct nuances. It is not for everyone, but those who dare discover delicious aromas. It demands mature minds. It does not dictate occasion; you decide when to wear it. It never provokes absolute rejection; it leaves people wondering if it smells good or different, but never ‘what you smell like’. It is complex, bold, and true to the creator. Hence 8/10: it is an olfactory statement that challenges norms and is enjoyed in every stage.

I wore it once and, frankly, I do not think I will repeat it. That said: I cannot take away its merits. It has excellent performance and a trail that enters any place before you. The scent is impossible to ignore, whether you want it to be or not; it is a clean punch of roses. The intense mix of rose plus clean has a mystical point… and here comes the curious part: that rose scent is the same used in the Christian liturgy of my town, and for me, it smells exactly like my grandmother’s house. Magical, nostalgic, and emotional, yes… But to wear it as a perfume? Not on your life, thanks. I respect it immensely, but it is not for me.

  • My guilty pleasure. It lasts well, projects well, good trail. It is versatile beyond whether you like the scent or not. It is a very solid perfume, not suitable for basics.

To be honest, I cannot find anything good. I try to find something positive every time I smell it, but I can’t. For me, it smells like cemetery flowers, a funereal aroma that disgusts me. I do not recommend it at all. The only good thing is the longevity and projection, which are very good, but the scent is horrible.

  • I am a girl living in southern Chile. Now that it is spring, nearing summer (December), with wind and 20 degrees, I feel the rose note perfectly. It is like a soft bath of roses, and the spicy base smells very aromatic with several layers. It tends to be feminine, but the dry-down is not sweet; it is more salty and dry, like aromatic wood with flowers. In winter, it is very masculine; I would not wear it then. The amber base is too acidic for me. It has good trail and longevity.

  • thesongofhecate

I thought this was for men, but it suits me perfectly, so I bought it. It smells of wood and spices; I detect rose, pink pepper, vetiver, and nutmeg, but ultimately it gives a tamarind twist. At first, I thought it was cucumber, but no—that’s the new flanker. It doesn’t smell of coffee. I wear it day and night in autumn and winter, especially in winter.

  • Rose, quite heavy and long-lasting. Projects a lot and lasts all night. It’s not for everyone, but the price-to-quality ratio is good. Don’t buy it blindly; it’s something different from what you usually wear from a designer.

When I was 16, I was in love with this scent. Every time I went out with my friends, I’d steal a bit from my uncle, put on 4 or 5 sprays, and lose the afternoon and the night. Recently someone gifted me this bottle and I was happy out of nostalgia, but sadly I can’t find a time to use it. I’ve never seen opinions so divided: some are repulsed and others are fascinated. That’s why I avoid enclosed places like the university. I had a family meeting and it seemed informal, as my partner smelled like a Mexican sweet called Rellerindo. If I had to say when to use it, it would be at 12 degrees with friends, between 15 and 25 years old. Lovely perfume, beautiful projection, and good longevity, but sadly it’s not for everyone.

  • It’s one of my favourite perfumes. It’s super unique and I love it; possibly it will be my signature fragrance for a good while.

  • valentinophantom

I’m changing the review because the previous one was so bad it deserved deleting. If you’re Mexican and know the smell of tamarind, it’s normal you don’t like it. In Argentina, no one likes it because of its dulce de leche-style sweetness, but outside of here it’s the favourite feminine fragrance (even if it isn’t). The truth: it smells of roses, but when mixed with pink pepper and touches of nutmeg and clove, you get the tamarind. 7.3/10. I wouldn’t use it myself, but on someone else it’s not unpleasant. It’s the perfume with the most divided opinions in history, just like Terroni or Lafayette Street. You either hate it or you love it.

I’m fascinated by it; I found out about it because I was given a tester in a department store. It smells incredible, although I understand it’s not for everyone. Here in Mexico, its notes at times (and for an untrained nose) can give off a tamarind or hibiscus scent. But, in reality, I think what stands out most are the rose, pepper, and wood notes. Also, occasionally I find a very pleasant aroma of wet earth. It has a sweet but charming character. And it has amazing projection and longevity. Sometimes even after showering, a little of the scent remains. I’ve received compliments, mostly from women but also from some colleagues. I’d say steer clear of the prejudice surrounding this fragrance; if you have the curiosity to try it, give it a go before buying. But, also be careful with dupes/copies, many of the bad reviews come from them… While it’s not an extremely expensive perfume, it’s not cheap either. If you see it online at a quarter of the price of a department store, I recommend being careful… 10/10.

  • Smells completely different to what designers are launching in 2025-2026. I like it, it’s distinctive, and has a lot of personality. If I had to describe it, it smells like a bouquet of freshly picked roses from the florist, ready to give to your partner, with a masculine/young touch that the pepper surely adds.

  • Reformulated, noooooo. It’s one of my favourite designer perfumes. I was going to gift it to a friend who had complimented it on me (because it’s divine on women too), but luckily I decided to try it myself. It was there, beautiful at first, but then it faded into nothing… The store was trustworthy, Primor, I’ll try it again elsewhere, but others have had the same experience. I pray it was a mistake and it remains that affordable gem. I am so, so, so fed up with reformulations; companies should label something like version 0.002… You buy your usual perfume and when you put it on, it’s a total change.

  • Smells good; the opening has many different opinions, like bad Argentine sweets or wet tamarind in Mexico, but if you don’t know much about perfumes, it’s good for a gift. Yes, the clove gives an effect of smelling like freshly cut wood and lasts quite a while. Of the things that can be emphasised most is that it survives dry or hot climates quite well; it’s one of the few perfumes that does well with such drastic climates, something I had in my collection just for when I went for a walk or rock climbing. If you get many compliments and are asked for the name, in summary it’s good if a woman smells it, but if another man smells it, he might not like it.

  • A perfume that isn’t for everyone. For me, it’s very good and I’ve had many compliments. I recommend it.

  • Exquisite scent I don’t understand why some don’t like it will they have a fragile masculinity? haha joking aside I consider it a unisex perfume. Very rich and special it’s not like all fashion perfumes. It smells like rose but a dark rose like black. It’s a quality scent for nothing does it smell cheap; in fact it has a niche aroma. The lasting power is more than optimal and the projection is excellent.

  • Toy Boy is an intense fragrance with good projection and lasting power. I consider it aromatically not for everyone as it can be very overwhelming. It’s like a Lattafa Zanzibar but tolerable given that the Arab one is unbearable for me due to being too sharp and aggressive to the nose.

  • Aka_Kaiser22

Where do I start. I bought it recently and had few expectations seeing the hate it had. But the truth is it’s so so so but taaan underground and different that it amazes me. Nothing to do with the (and saturated) avainilled and gourmand trend we live through now. It’s a rose and floral perfume full stop. No more. 100% unisex. Don’t buy blind for fun. I think it’s elegant fine and classy and as said alternative. I wouldn’t use it for work or daily wear it’s more for some informal situation relaxed outings with friends or if you’re already very torero even for a date. It’s not for everyone. Perfume +30 total. Nenes of Invictus/One Million/Carolina Herrera abstain. Quality-price ratio very good and the lasting power and projection are madness. Care with the sprays can end up being annoying. Personally happy with the purchase.

  • I can’t understand the popularity of this perfume. Perhaps it’s its striking bottle… To my mind it has a niche perfume smell: not versatile hard to understand not made to please the masses nothing conventional. What do we have here? Half-dead roses pepper and a sour base. A perfume at least strange informal and perhaps unisex. Not to my liking. Not for lunatics to buy it blind.

  • Daniel Fraganz

The truth is an incredible fragrance I agree with several reviewers: it’s not a buy blind. It’s complex leaning towards niche. When I first smelled it I was so impacted I didn’t test it on my skin which wasn’t ideal. I bought it and on a humid hot night I abused the sprays. Certainly it’s for the evening preferably autumn and winter; it’s youthful sophisticated and elegant. After a long time I bought it again with a different perspective: three sprays are more than enough its lasting power and trail are very marked. I use it in the office and with the right dose it’s a compliment machine and very pleasant for oneself. I hope this helps. If you want to try something different without fear of regretting it Toy Boy is a gem. Watch out: don’t use it in intense heat and don’t abuse the sprays.

  • After a few years with it and using it very few times I gave it away. I can’t stand that rose smell I’ve ended up loathing it. And that despite testing it before buying with a sample. Very original and very different but not for me. I agree with YouTuber CurlyFragrance who advises against this fragrance. I recommend testing it well before buying and if you finally buy it take the smallest bottle in case you change your mind after using it for a while.

  • Emmanuel_Santos

Left the perfumerie to test it: I had to spray it three times and was left speechless. To me it smells like floral floor cleaner with industrial levels of linalool I can’t believe it. Blast this isn’t for me. I don’t recommend buying it blind; go to the perfumerie to test it as you might love or hate it immensely. It’s very polarising. ☝️ In conclusion for my taste.

  • It doesn’t deserve all the hate it has. It’s true it smells like tamarind with flowers but that doesn’t make it bad; at least I like it. It’s not a buy blind as it’s not a scent for everyone but still I consider the perfume good.

  • STGO.DECANT

For those criticising this perfume: I confess I hated it at first too. But you need to wear it 2 3 or 4 times to realise it’s unique and brilliant. The first time it smelled like wilted roses like flowers decomposing in a cemetery. I don’t know how I asked my wife and she said it smelled incredible even that it made me smell rich (surely something about the perfume changed me haha like going from Neanderthal to David Beckham). Sincerely I couldn’t believe it. With more wears I understood its scent: lots of pepper and rose something sweet. Lasting power is brutal. What is true and I agree with many: don’t wear it more than 3 or 4 days in a row because it gets tiring and boring you could even end up hating it. But it’s a fantastic fragrance. Try it more than three times.
