Lapidus Cool Night by Ted Lapidus is a fragrance from the men's olfactive family. Launched in 2023, this composition features an olfactive pyramid where the top notes unfold the freshness of pineapple, grapefruit, bergamot, and apple. The heart of the fragrance reveals a harmony between lavender, patchouli, and rosemary, while the base notes land with elegance thanks to moss, tonka bean, musk, and leather.

  • I tried it in store today. I expected something potent as a flanker to the original Lapidus, but it’s more of a mix between Lapidus Sport and Polo Sport. It starts marine/salty, then settles into a classic aquatic scent with a retro eighties touch. It dries well, with that initial fruity cocktail and lingering notes of musk and leather. Ideal for terraces or the beach at night, not so much for bars due to lack of potency. For daytime, better in autumn or fresh spring days. I do recommend it; it’s a lovely scent, though don’t expect the original Lapidus (in fact, this feels more ‘Sport’). Note: I tried it on blotter, not on skin.

I loved it. It doesn’t smell like any Aventus. I see it as perfect for spring; here in Chile it’s already hot in the afternoons, and this Cool Night pairs very well.

I do not recall a launch that generated as many expectations as this new Cool Night, following the fiasco that the Intense launch meant for the brand, and the few expectations generated by Poker Face, a good perfume that was offered in poor packaging and did not live up to expectations. This time, Ted Lapidus resorts to the old and familiar bottle of the classic Lapidus Pour Homme, which has generated so many satisfactions, in a striking dark blue bottle, which I imagine refers to nocturnal situations, as its name indicates. The perfume itself has a beautiful fleshy, juicy opening, with notes of very sweet pineapple, apple (I could not define if it is green or red), and sweet mandarin or tangerine, which will accompany the entire development of the aroma. Subsequently, the musk will be perceived, along with some undefined note of rosemary or very synthetic oakmoss, to close with tonka bean. It should be clarified that the perfume had quite different performance both on a blotter and on my skin. On the blotter, I could appreciate the rosemary, oakmoss, and some other aromatic notes more notably, which denoted an aroma more in line with the original DNA; therefore, I recommend testing on skin before purchasing. The first two hours project quite well, then it settles close to the skin and moderately in a behaviour reminiscent of an EDP. It is not the typical Ted Lapidus ‘bomb’ that sweeps everything away; this Cool Night has a moderate behaviour and its longevity is above average, being perceptible for more than 10 hours but very close to the skin. As its name well indicates, it is a night perfume, although I have the perception that it might fall short in very crowded places like clubs, bars, or pubs. Perfect for evening sport use and ideal for the office in informal situations. In summary and in my particular opinion, it is a very good launch that comes to expand the brand’s portfolio.

Never has a launch generated so much expectation after the failures of Intense and Poker Face. Ted Lapidus uses the classic dark blue bottle, evoking the night. The opening is fleshy and sweet: pineapple, apple, and mandarin accompany the entire development. Then the musk appears, along with some rosemary or synthetic moss and tonka bean. Watch out: the performance is very different on blotter versus skin; on blotter the notes seem more aromatic, so try it on skin before buying. It projects strongly for the first two hours before dropping to skin-level, with moderate longevity typical of an EDP, over 10 hours but discreet. It’s not a ‘bomb’, perfect for evening sport or informal office wear. A very good launch that expands the brand.

  • The idea is to modernise the classic DNA while keeping certain reminiscences in the base. It’s a sweet, fruity, and musky scent with a touch of leather; quite youthful compared to other brand proposals, yet still mature and far from being ‘Invicturiano’. Very pleasant and versatile, perhaps a ‘blue’ fragrance due to the bottle, but suitable for any occasion and weather. Without being a bomb, it lasts around 5-6 hours with medium/low projection. It’s a tasty and versatile fragrance that won’t turn heads, perhaps redundant if you have a large collection, but ideal as a wildcard when you don’t know what to wear. Excellent value for money, hard to find in Spain, but surely it will drop below €30 when it arrives officially.

  • The idea that came to mind when testing it is that they wanted to give a twist towards modernity to the classic Pour Homme DNA, keeping certain reminiscences but only in the depths. What I see is a slightly sweet fruity/musked scent with a touch of leather; quite youthful if compared to other Ted Lapidus proposals… Still, it feels like a mature aroma, not reaching ‘Invictus’ territory. It is a very pleasant and versatile fragrance… Perhaps they wanted to create a ‘blue’ fragrance? It could be, or maybe I am suggesting myself due to the bottle colour… but it can be used on any occasion and in any weather. In terms of performance, it is not a bomb, rather it fits current trends, with about 5/6 hours of longevity and medium/low projection. It seemed like a good fragrance, tasty and versatile, but one that won’t blow your mind and might seem redundant if your collection is large… Or viewed another way, it could be a good all-rounder when you don’t know what to wear. The quality-price ratio is excellent as always with Ted Lapidus (currently difficult to get in Spain; when officially distributed, the price will surely drop to the usual range of under €30).

Citrus opening, bergamot, apple, it may carry pineapple even if not declared, evolving into something sweeter like a fruit cocktail, with a bit of lavender, patchouli, the sweet dry-down of tonka bean, and musk notes. 5 hours of longevity and reapplication is needed; quite versatile, except perhaps for extreme heat, it goes well for a temperate office, a shopping trip, and why not an after with friends or girlfriends. A masculine fragrance and do not expect an Aventus; the truth is, it is nowhere near that vibe. Greetings from Chile.

Bravo Ted Lapidus. With this fragrance, they are in tune with the times, making a 180-degree turn from the classic Pour Homme, which as a flanker only shares the bottle and intensity. It really surprised me; exceptional performance, longevity, and sillage typical of the brand. Quite good evolution of notes for its price. Versatility is second to none, showing off its charm in temperate climates and relaxed situations. Initially citrusy-fruity and slightly sharp, but after 10 minutes it settles down and takes on a sexier personality with tonka and lavender taking the lead. In summary, highly recommended and suitable to wear whenever and wherever you like.

Bravo Ted Lapidus! It’s in tune with the times, giving a 180-degree turn to the classic Pour Homme, which only changes the bottle and intensity. I was surprised by the exceptional performance, longevity, and trail typical of the brand. Good evolution of notes for its price. Versatility beyond question, with charm in temperate climates and relaxed situations. Citrus-fruity and slightly sharp at first, but within 10 minutes it calms down and gains a sexy personality with the tonka and lavender. Highly recommended to wear whenever and wherever you like.

Finally, Ted Lapidus brings the violet note to their men’s perfumes. Here is something sexy, modern, and mature. Slightly fruity, citrusy, and woody, without becoming cloyingly sweet; a perfect balance between fruits and citrus. Longevity is very good and projection is decent. For $12, I don’t think there is another fragrance with these credentials. Although it is suited for another winter and fresh spring days. A total 10/10.

  • Pleasant scent, slightly fruity, masculine to me but with very poor longevity. It lacked punch, lasting only about two hours on skin; on clothes, however, it is noticeable. So, apply it to your clothes for greater enjoyment. A fragrance for short outings; it needs to be reapplied to last a full workday.

  • It shares the same DNA as the classic Pour Homme, but this one is younger and fruitier; you can detect the apple and pineapple. It is creamy, slightly smoky, much like Fursian or Rave Now, and for the price, it offers more than 8 hours of wear, which is incredible. The Ted Lapidus house always delivers beasts, even if they are toilet waters. Just be careful with the sprays.

  • My first bottle smelled incredible and lasted days on clothes, but the second was the exact opposite: terrible longevity, no sillage, and very faint. Perhaps I bought one refilled with water; I couldn’t understand how it changed so drastically from one bottle to another. Anyway, I’m on to the third. Edit: I’ve already bought the third and it smells better than I remembered. Without a doubt, PERFUMON (it lasts about 4-6 hours).

  • Jhonny, I haven’t experienced any oxidation issues; it lasts about 5 or 6 hours for me. However, reading the reviews, there seems to be a lot of inconsistency regarding performance. It would be surprising if Ted Lapidus reformulated something like this; perhaps a specific batch went wrong.

  • Hello, gentlemen. Here is my honest opinion: I like the scent, without overthinking the ingredients, but I have a question. Will letting it macerate improve longevity and projection? If anyone has tried this and noticed a difference, I’d appreciate your comments as I am also trying it out.
