  • Oh my goodness, what an incredible fragrance! There is no comparison, perhaps the closest is Un Jardin sur le Nil by Hermès. If I thought I knew what a green perfume was, this concept is redefined by it; it is so strange and distinct that it is hard to explain. First come the herbal notes giving way to fern, it’s like smelling pure green, wet earth. Just when you think it’s ending, the pistachio appears and invades, sending shivers. Then comes the rosemary with great presence but without overwhelming, giving it character. It is a whole herbal experience. Here in Spain it is expensive, but it is very different, not for buying blindly. Ideal for summer, spring, perhaps autumn, during the day. Fresh for its purity, it smells new. Lasts about 2 hours on clothes and 5-6 on skin.

  • You squeeze a lemon leaf, basically that’s what it smells like. It’s an informal perfume, perfect for summer and the beach.

  • The Cartier Rivières collection is weak, very weak. Not only in longevity, but the scents are generic and faint, leading towards pharmacy perfumes. They are nice, smell good and have a pleasant opening, but they can be found in any perfumerie at a lower price. I don’t waste time with Allégresse and Insouciance; they smell 80% the same and dry down identically, it’s like buying two bottles of the same perfume. Both smell like Elizabeth Arden. Within Luxuriance it is the best: a green opening like walking or dancing in a meadow (like Julie Andrews in ‘The Sound of Music’). As it dries down it smells of pistachio, a delight. On first spray I thought: ‘wow, how fine this smells’. Longevity is scarce to moderate, depending on the skin. I use it for day and summer, not spring. Would I buy it? Personally yes, but only Luxuriance. Its clean green aroma conquers me more than the longevity. The other two are a resounding no. Perhaps my case is special because Cartier is my favourite brand. I suggest testing before buying blindly.

  • I’m not a huge fan of herbal perfumes, but I love this one. It smells fresh and herbal, with that scent of freshly cut and damp grass, very lovely. As it dries down, the pistachio note emerges and softens it, leaving a very pleasing aroma. The longevity isn’t the best, but the trail is. I’ve adored it.

  • I’m not much of a herbal perfume person but I love this one. It smells fresh and herbal, with that aroma of freshly cut and damp grass, very lovely. As it dries down the pistachio is noticeable and it softens, leaving a very tasty scent. The longevity isn’t the best, although the trail is good. I’ve loved it.

Super fresh! Ideal for an intense summer day. It doesn’t project much, but it sits without being intrusive. It requires reapplication during the day. Although not listed in the notes, I perceive it as a fresh cucumber scent. I recommend it as a go-to for refreshing, not as a main perfume. Insouciance from the same collection is superior, but I have no regrets about the purchase.

Super fresh! Perfect for an intense summer day. It doesn’t project much but it is a fragrance that ‘sits’ without invading. It requires reapplication during the day. It is not listed in the notes but I feel it starts as a pleasant and fresh cucumber aroma. I recommend it not as ‘the perfume’ but as a go-to to refresh you during the day. Insouciance from this same collection is superior in every way, nevertheless I have no regrets whatsoever about the purchase.

  • Luxuriance is fresh, herbal and aromatic, being exquisitely refreshing on hot summer days. The green and mentholated notes of geranium and fern provide that sensation of ‘cool herbal’, as if smelling vegetation by a river beside the woods, with resinous trees. It seems to me a slightly more masculine fragrance than feminine, nevertheless, I enjoy it very much personally. On the other hand, its longevity and fixation are not very good, so it must be applied generously. The quality and design of the bottle seem very elegant and typical of Cartier; a ‘green luxury’ for my small collection.
