You rarely get the chance to wear a creation by master perfumer Alberto Morillas for under $30, and this is one of those times. A fresh, sharp fragrance that reminds me of morning walks on my grandmother’s farm. Triple B: Good, Beautiful, Cheap. A great option for daytime or the office, harmless and pleasant. I’m surprised O Boticário doesn’t charge more for it. Projection: 8.5, Longevity: 8, Versatility: 9, Price: 10.
You rarely get the chance to own a creation by master perfumer Alberto Morillas for under $30, and this is one of those times. A fresh, sharp fragrance that reminds me of morning walks at my grandmother’s farm. Triple B: Good, Beautiful, Cheap. A perfect option for daytime or the office, inoffensive and pleasant. I’m surprised O Boticário doesn’t charge more for it. Projection: 8.5, Longevity: 8, Versatility: 9, Price: 10.
Who said good perfumes have to be expensive or from a luxury brand? Malbec Bleu is an affordable gem with an incredible value-for-money ratio. It smells great, lasts about seven hours, and projects well for the first two. It’s versatile for any weather, from casual to semi-formal. While it’s not innovative, typical ‘blue’ style, it’s well-constructed thanks to Alberto Morillas. It bears a strong resemblance to ADG Profundo (more so than Dylan), so if you already own those, it might feel redundant, though Malbec is woodier. Performance is average or better than perfumes three or four times its price; I get a solid seven hours on skin, projecting strongly at first before fading gradually. In warm climates (30°C), it truly shines, with enhanced projection and bursts of scent. Compliments come easily; it’s very easy to wear. I see it more for daytime, ideal for the office or a routine between 7 am and 5 pm, though in the heat it’s also great for going out at night. It’s a high-quality synthetic fragrance that girls love and consider sexy. If you live in a temperate or hot climate and don’t want to spend much, this is the one for you. If you have an ADGP and want a break from it, Malbec is perfect for everyday wear: good and kind on the wallet.
Who said good perfumes have to be expensive or designer? Scent: Good, Longevity: 7 hours, Projection: 2 hours, Sillage: Soft-Moderate, Versatility: Any weather, Occasions: Casual to semi-formal. First, it’s very affordable and the cost-to-benefit ratio is incredible. It’s not innovative (like any blue fragrance), but it’s well ‘constructed’. Master perfumer Alberto Morillas was involved in its creation, which is a definite plus. You’ll notice the resemblance to ADG Profondo and Dylan Blue (in my case, leaning more towards ADGP), so if you already own those, it might be redundant, although Malbec tends to be more woody. Performance is average (even superior to many costing three or four times more); I get a solid 7 hours on skin and it projects very well for the first 2 hours, then fades gradually. It works in any climate, but its true potential shines in the heat; on mild days it’s fantastic, but at 30°C that’s when you really feel the bursts. Compliments never fail; it’s easy to wear. It’s very versatile, but I see it more as a daytime fragrance, ideal for daily life, the office, or anything between 7 am and 5 pm. Note, it’s not that you can’t wear it at night, but Malbec Bleu really shines during the day. If you’re in a very hot area, it’s perfect for a relaxed night out. It’s a great perfume considering the price: it’s synthetic but not of poor quality. Women tend to like it above all, perhaps because of the synthetic nature, they find it sexy. If you live in a temperate or warm zone and don’t want to spend much, this is for you. If you have an ADG Profondo and want to give it a rest, this works perfectly as a daily scent. It’s excellent because it’s good and doesn’t hurt your wallet.
For those claiming it smells like ADG Profondo, you’re probably suffering from the post-Covid olfactory fatigue; this smells more like Axe deodorant, and sometimes I catch a hint of Gatorade as it dries, with that distinctive opening found in all Malbec scents. It’s original, but try it before buying.
In warm, sunny weather it shines with bursts of freshness. For two hours it projects a delightful aquatic citrus scent that feels like just out of the shower; women absolutely adore that vibe. Given the price and having Alberto Morillas behind the creation, it adds a real touch of quality. After three hours, it settles into a personal bubble lasting around seven hours on skin, and up to twelve hours on clothes thanks to its fresh fougère character. It’s not a work of art or particularly innovative, but for the price, it outperforms many designer fragrances. As for Aqua Profundo, while the aquatic notes are similar, it takes a different direction; here Morillas is present and truly stands out.
In warm and sunny climates, it shines with bursts. For two hours, it projects a very pleasant aquatic citrus scent that gives freshness; women love that freshly out-of-the-shower smell. Given the price and having Alberto Morillas in the bottle, it offers an extra touch of quality. From the third hour onwards, it stays in a personal bubble on skin for 7 hours, and on clothes, being a fresh fougère, for about 12 hours. It’s not a work of art or innovative, but for the price, it delivers performance better than many designer brands. Regarding Aqua Profundo, the aquatic notes are the same but it goes in a different direction; here Morillas is present and stands out.
Of all the Malbecs I tried in-store, this one and Magnetic were my favourites. It’s impossible to find such quality and scent for under $30, which was their price. It revitalises you in the heat, its strong suit, and leaves you feeling freshly showered; it smells like shower gel. It’s quite aquatic-marine, with a faint echo of ADG Profondo, so it’s worth every penny. It projects for about two hours and lasts four in total on skin, but updating: yes, it reaches six to eight hours on skin; I can’t ask for more performance at this price.
Of all the Malbecs in the shop, this and Magnetic were the ones I liked the most. To be clear: it’s impossible to find this quality and aroma for less than $30. It revitalises you in the heat, which is its strength; you feel freshly showered, smelling of shower gel. It’s quite aquatic-marine, even reminding a little of ADG Profondo. For the price, it’s totally worth it. Projects for about 2 hours, totaling 4 on skin, but I wouldn’t ask for more performance for the price. UPDATE: it does reach about 6 to 8 hours on skin.
It’s a very rich blue fragrance. Yes, I do notice a touch of ADG Profondo and Dylan Blue, something subtle, but the undeniable signature of Morillas is felt from the first spray. It’s truly a very good fragrance.
It’s a rich, pleasant blue fragrance. I do notice a touch of ADG Profondo and Dylan Blue, something subtle but present. The indisputable point is Morillas’ signature; you can feel it from the first spray. It is truly a very good fragrance.
If you’re looking for a clone of Acqua di Gio Profondo, forget it; this isn’t even close. It’s quite synthetic and feels lower quality than the original. Plus, it mixes in some Dylan Blue, which takes away from being a pure clone. It has a touch reminiscent of Profondo but more bitter, in a ‘barber shop’ or old-school style, something more adult; the original is youthful. Dylan Blue appears as it dries but isn’t the main focus. In summary: if you want a clone of ADG Profondo, there are better options. But if you’re seeking a blend of ADG Profondo + Dylan Blue, pushed into an eighties adult aroma, this is for you. Longevity: 6/7 hours, Projection: moderate (2 hours), Sillage: moderate. Rating: 6.
It’s a super masculine scent, perfect for casual or semi-formal occasions. Everyone loves it. While the longevity isn’t the best at first, you can’t ask for more given the price. Now that I’m halfway through, I noticed it has improved: I’ve gone from about 4 hours to a solid 5 hours.
