Descripción

Polo Double Black by Ralph Lauren is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2006, the nose behind this composition is Ellen Molner. The top notes are mango and pepper; the heart notes, roasted coffee beans and Indonesian nutmeg; and the base notes, a woody accord of cardamom and juniper berries.

A fragrance with very current ingredients and style. Personally, I don’t identify much mango or coffee, but I do detect juniper berries and woody notes (and perhaps pepper), which are in my favourite perfumes; that’s why I like this Ralph Lauren one so much; it’s one of their best. I think juniper and wood are the top notes, not the base. I had a small deja vu with Lagerfeld Photo, but I don’t dare compare them. It’s not intrusive if not overapplied, but I suggest wearing it in temperate or cold weather, as the results are much better. It’s for casual events, neither too informal nor too formal. Since the original Polo Green, I haven’t smelled anything so good from Ralph Lauren as this fragrance.

Super current ingredients and a style that really works. I can’t detect the mango or coffee, which I notice daily, but I do smell the juniper berries and the woody notes (perhaps pepper), which are my favourites and feature in my top perfumes. That’s why I love this Ralph Lauren; it’s undoubtedly their best work. It feels as though the juniper and wood notes are top notes rather than base. I had a fleeting moment with the Lagerfeld Photo, but I’m not comparing them just yet; it was something transient. It’s not intrusive unless you overapply, but it’s better suited to temperate or cold climates where it smells much better. Ideal for casual events, neither too informal nor too formal. Since the original Polo Green (pre-refurbishment), I haven’t smelled anything as good from Ralph Lauren as this.

I detect a note of vanilla that isn’t declared, perhaps due to the blend of nutmeg, coffee, and cardamom which emulates a cappuccino. The spices (soft pepper) are dominated by the wood, and that vanilla mutes the mango and juniper, which I barely notice. It lasts over 8 hours with moderate to heavy trail. Due to the spices, wood, and gourmand character, I see it as more suitable for winter or cool summer nights. Double Black is more nocturnal than Black; the latter might be for warm nights, while this is for cold winter nights, like with a hot coffee. It lasts longer than its siblings, Blue and Black.

  • I walked into a store with a promotion on handbags, bath lotions, aftershaves, and an extra 40ml bottle. I sampled it without much enthusiasm and barely felt that coffee mixed with vanilla, yet it was simply captivating. An ideal perfume for daily use that lasts all day on my skin, always in winter with moderate humidity; very humid coastal climates reduce the projection, which is already good (6 to 8 hours). Recommended for special occasions, such as evening outings to pubs to meet people and start conversations, always in winter climates. I assure you, it receives very well from the female public. Exceptional!

  • I walked into a store with a promotion for a bag and an extra 40ml bottle. Without much enthusiasm, I tried it and the coffee aroma with vanilla hints was captivating. Ideal for daily wear; on my skin it lasts longer, and in winter with moderate humidity it’s excellent (6 to 8 hours). High humidity on the coast reduces the projection, which is otherwise good. Recommended for daily use, especially night outings or pubs to meet people. Very well received by women. Exceptional.

  • I give Polo Double Black five stars; it’s a curious fragrance that impacts and conquers ladies. It’s a perfume with unusual scents that lasts, and women say it smells great. Every time I wear it, it creates curiosity in them; it’s so potent they get desperate and give me their number. Sometimes I think this perfume has pheromones because it attracts so much. Rating 10 out of 10, I recommend it; you won’t regret it, I’ve hooked up with countless women with this scent.

  • I give Polo Double Black five stars. It’s curious, it makes an impact and it wins over women. It smells delicious and lasts. Every time I wear it, women go crazy and give me their number; I think it has pheromones. Rating 10/10, I recommend it; you won’t regret it. I’ve hooked up with countless women with this scent.

  • I bought this based on the reviews and I’m disappointed. It has nothing special about it other than the price. It’s much less efficient than Polo Black. After half an hour, it only lingers on the skin; it’s so subtle that you have to reapply it every hour for people to notice. A real let-down. In short: overrated according to the comments.

  • I bought this perfume based on the reviews I read here, and frankly, I’m thoroughly disappointed. It has nothing special about it, except the price. It’s much less efficient than Polo Black, and ultimately, regarding price and performance, I recommend Black over Double Black without a second thought. After half an hour, you can only smell it on the skin so softly that you’d have to reapply every hour for people to notice it. In short, a letdown. My summary: an overrated fragrance.

  • Demócrito

The downside: it doesn’t last at all, as quickly as you drink a cup of coffee (2 to 3 hours, after which it’s barely on the skin, like the dregs in a cup… with luck, haha). The upside: that aroma of coffee and mango is delicious. **Correction: with luck, it lasts 2 hours.

  • Demócrito

The downside: it doesn’t last at all, as quickly as a cup of coffee (2 to 3 hours, then it’s skin-scent only, like the dregs in the cup… lucky for you, haha). The upside: that coffee and mango scent is delicious. **Correction: it manages to reach about 2 hours at best.**

  • This is my favourite fragrance, my personal scent. Green mango and pepper are well-defined, with the rest depending on skin pH. It’s spicy, exquisite, and sensual. The mango and pepper fade within the first hour, giving way to spices, finishing with a woody dry-down. In my opinion, it’s the best of Ralph Lauren, alongside Polo Red and White & Blue. It lasts all day; people compliment it constantly. Perfect for the office or romantic dates.

  • Mr Landaulet

It’s true that it smells wonderful; the mango, coffee, and pepper are well combined, but the performance is terrible. On my skin, it lasts less than two hours and is barely detectable up close. Here it’s sold for £100, an outrageous price. It’s a waste of potential, a real pity.

  • Mr Landaulet

It’s true that it smells very well because its most notable ingredients (mango, coffee, and pepper) are blended very well, but the problem is its performance is quite poor. On my skin, longevity didn’t exceed 2 hours, and the trail stays right on the skin. If we add to that the fact that this Double Black sells for $100 in my city, in short words, it seems to me a price that is far too high. In the end, for me, it’s a wasted potential, a real pity.

  • AlbertLionheart

Delicious scent and well-blended, but the reformulation has reduced its performance. With just 4 or 5 sprays, it barely registers, and if you don’t reapply frequently, it fades quickly. Ideal for dinner or the cinema—short outings only. The price is the drawback; for under £50 it’s worth it, but if you have that money, I’d look elsewhere. It’s a shame such a lovely scent deserves to last longer.

I went looking for another fragrance but ended up with this one. I absolutely love the coffee and mango combination; while it’s not a masterpiece, it’s solid. It lasts about 4 to 6 hours. Don’t buy it blindly; test it first to see if you like the coffee note.
