Descripción

CK Free by Calvin Klein is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2009, this composition was created by Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Ellen Molner. The top notes reveal juniper berries, star anise, absinthe and ylang-ylang; the heart unfolds suede, tobacco, buchu and coffee; while the base notes settle on Virginia cedar, oak, woods and patchouli.

I was gifted a 1.2ml sample (a syringe with spray). I feel it breaks CK’s general style; it reminded me briefly of Zegna’s Z and something like Perry Ellis’s Portfolio. In any case, I feel it’s youthful, more European than typically ‘American’. It won’t be one of my favourite Calvin Kleins, but I think it’s good that they’ve tried a different path.

I was gifted a 1.2ml vial, and although it slightly breaks CK’s usual style, it initially reminded me of Zegna’s Z before evolving into Perry Ellis’s Portfolio. I find it youthful, more European than American. It may not become one of my favourites from the brand, but I think it’s good that they’ve tried a different path.

  • I find it very pleasant; it’s a true eau de toilette. Fresh, youthful, citrusy, and slightly sweet. Ideal for sports. It lasts one or two hours; with sweat or heat, it activates and feels stronger (I use it at the gym), with a trail close to the skin. Not for personal branding, more of a summer momentary scent.

  • priethcallas

Fresh opening with something citrusy, perhaps juniper berries and yuzu, plus star anise. The impression was curious; I thought of something aquatic. After an hour and a half, a spicy note emerges, like white pepper or absinthe. After four and a half hours, suede and undefined woods. After eight and a half hours, lots of patchouli and cedar. By noon, soft woods. I must be very lucky with my skin: sustained trail and over twelve hours of longevity (tested with a full 1.2ml syringe, end of winter, 15 degrees, low humidity). Hard to specify usage: it has fresh elements but the finish isn’t so much, and that spicy note isn’t comfortable for full summer. Best for intermediate seasons. Daytime and informal use. I never sensed the tobacco and coffee notes.

  • Do you want to throw your money away? Buy it and give it away immediately. It’s an aroma that attracts at first, but offers nothing. A perfume must contribute something to the senses, and this is a terrible creation by CK that surely disappointed many with its marketing. Longevity: zero.

  • The only consistency it has is that it smells like a unique delight: opens with tobacco and anise, then herbs, roasted coffee, juniper, suede, and closes fruity and woody. However, its performance is terrible: it disappears in two hours, the trail is non-existent, and it doesn’t even last on clothes. It deserves a ‘love it’ for the scent, but a ‘like it’ for the longevity.

Soft, fresh, and summery. The trail is shy and clings to the skin, but it lasts longer on clothes. Smells clean and crisp.

  • Absolutely delicious, with a rare complexity in CK. It lasts all day on me and leaves a moderate trail. Ideal for spring-summer, casual daytime wear. Sophisticated, youthful, and elegant all at once. Highly recommended.

  • A very rich fragrance with an unusual complexity in CK. On me, it has lasting longevity and a moderate trail. Ideal for spring and summer, for daytime and casual wear. It’s youthful, sophisticated and yet elegant. Totally recommended.

The scent is okay, but the performance is far too poor. It’s a summer and fresh fragrance, but its longevity on me is weak and the projection almost non-existent. I’ve applied a considerable amount and only I can perceive it; once it dries, it stays very close to the skin, perhaps lasting a bit longer on clothes. It’s very expensive for the performance it offers. I absolutely do not recommend it and certainly won’t buy any CK fragrance again, let alone this one.

I’ve applied a considerable amount and only I can smell it; once dry, it’s very skin-close; perhaps it lasts a bit longer on clothes. It’s a very expensive fragrance for the performance it offers. I wouldn’t recommend it at all and I certainly wouldn’t buy another CK, let alone this one.

  • Ricardo Lopez-Braga

A disappointment… it must be the weakest trail and longevity I’ve perceived; it doesn’t last more than half an hour. If CK EDTs have a reputation for poor longevity, this is the best example. Any similarities to another fragrance? It reminds me of a Gillette aftershave. If I were to use it, I’d do so in the car; I tested it against the air vent and it seemed slightly better. It runs out and I won’t buy it again.

  • This woody and fresh EDT has fresh and spicy opening notes. The heart notes evoke a very fresh green wood; I think the woods work better in cold climates. Slightly spicy, green, and young wood notes. The base notes are underappreciated because it doesn’t reach that stage before fading away. It has an age range for young people; it’s really not romantic at all, just fresh and different, a fresh wood for summer. It’s a very clean fragrance. Longevity on my skin is around three hours.

  • I loved it from the first whiff: it’s fresh, masculine, woody and very easy to wear. I had doubts due to reviews regarding longevity, but I’m satisfied; it lasts about 3 or 4 hours, just right for its price. On clothes, it lasts even longer. The projection is normal, but I enjoy those that stay with you for casual outings more. I don’t understand all the hate; it gave me more than I expected.

  • I loved it from the first sniff; it’s fresh, masculine, woody, and very easy to wear. I had doubts due to reviews about longevity, but I’m very satisfied; it lasts about three to four hours, just right for its price. I was surprised to use it on clothes; it adds a few more hours. The projection seems normal to me, but I enjoy perfumes that stay with you, especially for casual outings. I don’t know why there’s so much hate; honestly, it gave me more than I expected.

  • I bought it blind and it’s very rich and fresh; I loved it. It lasted eight hours on my skin with a moderate trail.

  • Excellent fragrance, I think it has a very low rating for its quality. I like the whole process. It’s fresh and has very pleasant green notes.

  • Excellent fragrance; I think it has a very low rating for its quality. I like the whole experience. It’s fresh with some very pleasant green notes.

  • It’s a good, generic scent that won’t disappoint you but won’t impress you either. It’s a good daily perfume; it lasts about four hours on me, but I barely notice it during that time. Ideal for the office so as not to overwhelm anyone.

  • The tap water smells better than this cologne 🤣. By the way, if it rings a bell, it’s because I got the fragrance wrong.

  • I don’t know why it has bad ratings. I bought it for the price to use almost daily; I finished it very quickly and can’t find it anywhere anymore. In my warm tropical climate, it persisted even at night. I loved the woody notes and those tobacco and coffee accords that lasted until the end. The dry-down is better than the opening. It’s excellent for a man with minimal woody notes who doesn’t bother and is noticeable on a t-shirt collar all night. This CK fragrance caught me; I didn’t expect much at first, but it earns its price in gold. From 6:35 AM until night, you can still smell it on yourself.

  • I don’t understand why it has such bad reviews. I bought it for the price and for daily use. It ran out very quickly and I can’t find it anymore. In my hot tropical climate, the fragrance lasted until evening. I loved the woody notes, those hints of tobacco and coffee that lingered at the end. The dry-down is better than the top notes. If you can get your hands on it, it’s an excellent option for woody men’s scents; it’s minimal and unobtrusive, noticeable on the skin and the collar of the shirt by night. This CK one caught my attention; I didn’t expect much at first, but it earns its price in gold given its characteristics. From 6:35 AM until night, you can still smell it on you.

  • I was gifted this and I liked it; it’s a pleasant scent but nothing special. It’s not annoying, though it fades quickly, so I have to reapply it several times. It works well for everyday wear, but I don’t think I’ll repurchase it when I run out.

  • Well, I’ve had it for about two years and… it’s not much, but for everyday wear or simple situations, it’s not bad. The opening is very fresh, almost marine, then it turns into suede with coffee and woody notes. It’s a characteristic scent; it doesn’t remind me of anything specific to me, but it’s not special either. The downside is the projection and longevity, which leave a lot to be desired. I use it at work and have received a compliment or two. I recommend not over-applying because it can become very alcoholic if you spray too much.

  • I’ve had it for over a year with abysmal longevity and poor sillage. This CK Free has a fresh opening with citrus notes; I’m not sure if it’s the same as before since I don’t recognise the scent, with good woody aromas dominating juniper berries, absinthe, a suede oak base, soft star anise, and patchouli. I don’t detect coffee or tobacco; I sprayed it about 20 times. Frankly, I liked it when I first bought it and let myself be swept away, but today I feel it’s sadly very soft and short-lived.

  • ManucoSeven

There was a batch bought in the US that lasted a long time and smelled incredible, with lots of personality. I bought it again and it was disappointing. I don’t know if it’s a different formula, but the difference in longevity and scent was well below what I experienced before, although this happens to me lately with toilettes.

  • CK Free is functional, ideal for hot climates and casual moments where you’re looking for something discreet. Don’t expect it to make an impression or last long. I recommend it if you prefer something light and low-key. If you’re looking for something more enduring or distinctive, this might not be for you. 7/10 ☀️🪵☕️⛱️

  • Fresh and a little fussy, ideal for spring and summer. Low longevity; on my skin it lasts a maximum of two hours. I use it for everyday wear and won’t repurchase when it runs out because in my country, Peru, it’s excessive (259 soles for 100ml); it would be throwing money away. 5/10

  • marcosluparia

CK Free by Calvin Klein. Fresh with notes of cedar, cardamom, and a hint of coffee. Like many CKs from the 2000s, it doesn’t stand out. Poor sillage, almost non-existent projection, and a mediocre trail. Although the opening is fresh, it dissipates quickly. I’m not a huge fan of Calvin Klein; the best ones have been left behind: Obsession, Eternity, and Escape (the latter two are my favourites). I’d only repurchase if it were a gift. 4/10.

  • The scent is okay, but like all CKs, the longevity and projection are poor. The scent lasts half an hour. DO NOT BUY.

  • marcosluparia

CK Free by Calvin Klein. A fresh perfume with notes of cedar, cardamom and a hint of coffee in the middle. Like most CK fragrances since the 2000s, it doesn’t stand out in any way. Poor projection, almost non-existent sillage and a mediocre trail. Although the opening is fresh, it dissipates almost immediately. It’s clear I’m not a big fan of the brand; for me, the best ones are left behind: Obsession, Eternity and Escape (the last two are my favourites from the house). I would only keep it if it were a gift. Rating 4/10.

  • The scent is meh. Like all CKs, the longevity and projection are poor, lasting only about half an hour. DO NOT BUY.

  • santiago herrera

I wore it to school and say it’s very good for younger people; it’s not overpowering and smells nice up close. Highly recommended.

  • Fresh and perfect for summer. I bought it for the gym, so longevity isn’t my concern. Smells clean and pleasant; a total bargain for the price. 8/10
