  • I didn’t expect a grapefruit and coconut cocktail to work so well. The opening is luminous and well-balanced: the grapefruit provides sparkle and freshness without dominating, while the coconut comes out natural, creamy, and dry. The dry down brings oakmoss and amber, a firm base that’s slightly earthy and masculine, setting it apart from the obvious. Clearly daytime, with a spring and summer DNA. Even in the cold, it’s addictive. Moderate trail, surprising longevity for a fresh profile: I wore it before bed and it was still there when I woke up. A cheerful and easy-to-love perfume.

  • I’d been wanting to try it for weeks because I’d never found Tales from Zanzibar in Europe due to availability issues. I bought it from a Spanish website. I liked it, though I should reserve it for high temperatures. The opening, after two minutes, smells of delicious tropical fruits with a subtle sea breeze. As it dries down, I notice a dry, almost green coconut—nothing creamy—but the tropical fruit remains, summery and refreshing. It’s not dense but airy, which is a plus compared to other heavy fruit perfumes. The only drawback is a sharp note of celery or rhubarb in the dry down, reminiscent of Baccarat Rouge or Roja, and I no longer feel that initial magic. Perhaps it needs time to mature, but winter doesn’t help. Edit: after trying the original, I’ve bought the bottle. It’s like tasting a cured ham after a serrano.

  • French Avenue never fails. It’s the brand that lasts the longest on skin and clothes. It smells fresh to the max for summer and spring, ideal for daytime, but it also holds up in the heat at night. It opens citrusy with grapefruit, then goes to blackcurrants, followed by a soft, unsweetened coconut. When it dries down, boom—mint and jasmine turn it into a bomb. Buy blind, it’s worth it.

  • Starts with a mentalyzed grapefruit and a touch of coconut that smells like a tropical drink, as if you’d just crushed a green leaf. Once it dries down, it improves significantly, though I’m not entirely convinced yet. I’m testing it thoroughly and will update soon.
