Azzure Oud by French Avenue is an oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2024, this composition features passion fruit, a passion fruit, alongside fruity notes, rose and saffron in its top notes. Sincerely, I had high expectations for this fragrance as I was expecting something fruity and original due to the passion fruit, with a touch of leather and woods in the base. Instead, what I have found is a high predominance of leather mixed with the woods also present, but the leather has too much protagonism. The passion fruit feels quite light, and I barely notice an ‘amber’, ‘fruity’, or ‘sweet’ fragrance… A pity, truly, for what I expected.

Honestly, I had quite high expectations; I was hoping for something fruity and original with that passionfruit, with leather and woods in the base. Instead, I find a high predominance of leather mixed with woods, with the leather having too much protagonism. The passionfruit feels light, and I don’t detect any amber, fruity, or sweet notes… A pity, truly, for what I was expecting.

  • Barely arrived and today is the first time I’ve used it, so these are my first impressions. Firstly, it is worth noting that it resembles Maison Crivelli’s Oud Maracuja quite a bit without being identical; however, it is an affordable option worth considering if you are interested in and enjoy this type of aroma. But it is not a blind buy: some people may find it strong or repulsive. The opening is dominated by sweet and fruity aromas along with passion fruit and a slightly dusty rose (like green or Turkish rose); here, the passion fruit feels somewhat synthetic and cloying, lacking the bright citrusy touches of the original fruit, but it resembles it well. As time passes, saffron and oud become more prominent, added to the leather, patchouli, opoponax, and amber; in the base, sandalwood adds a creamy touch that harmonises all the aromas, enhancing the passion fruit, oud, and leather, while losing some of the sweetness of the first thirty minutes. It is a very masculine fragrance and I feel it is a bit mature for people over 35, but it all depends on personal taste. The passion fruit note has good longevity throughout the development. As mentioned before, it is not a blind buy as it fits very much the style of niche fragrances that do not necessarily please everyone, as they are not mass-market aromas since the oud is quite potent and can be overwhelming for those who do not like it. A special aroma for autumn and winter; I consider it works better from dusk into the night, but it can work well during the day in open spaces; not for office use or small enclosed spaces as it may discomfort others.

A work of art… I have smelled Oud Maracuya, but it is far too expensive, and this perfume captures its aroma in the dry-down in an incredible way. You can detect the passion fruit, the oud, a touch of leather, but everything is very well crafted. An exquisite aroma… longevity? Excellent. I read reviews saying it smells horrible; I think they bought a fake. Mine felt exquisite from the very first spray. Note: it’s not designer, not a blind buy, but if you are knowledgeable about niche perfumes and are thinking of purchasing it, it’s because you already have experience. And if you know Oud Maracuya and like it, this perfume allows you to access that world at a lower price. Don’t hesitate to buy it.

This is a beast of a perfume; it lasts a ridiculous amount of time. It can stay on clothes for weeks, and I’m not exaggerating. The only thing I could criticise (nothing negative) is that I would have liked to smell the fruity notes more, as the wood and leather notes overpower them, leaving you with an overly invasive scent of leather and wood.

This is a proper fragrance; it lasts forever, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it can last weeks on clothes. The only thing I could criticise (nothing negative) is that I would have liked to detect more fruity notes, as the wood and leather notes overpower the others, ending in a scent that is too invasive of leather and wood.

  • If only its opening was dominant, it would be a masterpiece. That passionfruit smells delicious at first, but as it evolves, the leather and oud overpower, becoming challenging; I admit it’s not a popular taste. DO NOT BUY BLIND! For now, it’s not something to go crazy over and chase the social media hype.

  • Disappointing for the moment. I don’t even find it pleasant. I have several samples of Oud Maracuja, and in my opinion, they bear no resemblance to each other; they are light years apart. I’ll try to give it a chance to see if my opinion improves.

  • Disappointing for the time being. I don’t even find it pleasant. I have several samples of Oud Maracujá and in my opinion they are nothing alike; they are light years apart. I’ll try to give it a chance to see if my opinion improves.

If only the opening were a wonder. That passion fruit smells sumptuous at first, but as it evolves and the leather and oud mute that opening, the scent becomes a bit challenging. I admit it’s not to everyone’s taste. DO NOT BUY BLIND! For now, it’s not something to go crazy over and chase the social media hype.

Just tried it, and the first thing that comes to mind is Blue Oud by Lattafa. The opening is almost identical, but Azzure Oud has much more body throughout the entire wear thanks to the leather. For those complaining that it smells too heavy, they should try that one instead.

  • Franpiera

Not for everyone: the oud rules and the leather holds its own. The idea of mixing such a masculine blend with sweet passion fruit is good, but the execution doesn’t quite match Crivelli. It smells different, draws attention, and earns compliments from experts, but don’t be surprised if a follower of simple scents tells you they don’t like it. The longevity is good; the projection is excessive at first but settles as it matures, which isn’t bad at all. Not for daily wear, not for beginners, and certainly not for going unnoticed. If you accept it, go ahead: it’s a fragrance that’s scary to wear, ideal for creative days.

  • Archeologist

The Colossal Monster Azure Aoud is very polarising, and here is why: its longevity and projection do not approach anything I have had (well, Kenzo Homme did). It projects from the other end of the room and sticks to clothes forever, unless you wash them. In this aspect, it is a true beast. There is not much difference between the opening and the dry down; what happens is that you will smell whatever you want to smell. It smells of something fruity, citrus touches (probably from the incense), and the dark, heavy part of an oud and an animalic leather. If you think of the passion fruit, you will say it is pure passion fruit; if you focus on its dark side, the passion fruit disappears and you smell a lot of leather and oud. The climate, the time, and the context play a FUNDAMENTAL role. Can it be used in summer? Yes, but it will be very heavy. If you wear it informally, you will smell dirty and strange; if you are dressed up, it gives you a point of mystery and very powerful elegance. It is not for everyone or for everything. Give it a chance.

Colossal Monster: Azzure Aoud is a very polarising fragrance, and here is why: its longevity and projection do not compare to anything I have had (well, Kenzo Homme does). There is not much difference between the opening and the dry-down; from my point of view, what happens with this fragrance is that you will smell whatever you want to smell. If you wear it informally, you will smell dirty and weird. If you are dressed up, this will give you a very powerful point of mystery and elegance. It is not for everyone or for everything. Give it a chance.

Passion fruit and oud. Nothing more, nothing less. Very rich for the price and apparently it lasts and projects well. Highly recommended. I do not think it has the quality of the original Oud Maracuyá, but it is a very good woody and citrus fragrance.

  • Before starting, let me say it is not for blind buying. It has a very peculiar and strong scent. To me, at first, it smells very much of leather, but as it dries down, the sweet smell of passion fruit and the oud becomes more noticeable, which is a fragrance I love for its scent, ideal for formal occasions in cold climates. Longevity is outstanding: 12-14 hours on my skin and a projection of at least two metres. It is addictive if you like perfumes with oud and leather. Update: after a few months of oxidising until winter arrives, the passion fruit becomes more noticeable than at the beginning. If I liked it before, I like it even more now.

  • BassoProfumo

It reminds me a lot of Ombre Leather and also My héroïne by Mac. Leather, musk, incense, and saffron. Nothing new.

AZZURE AOUD, which is how it is named and not ‘OUD’, is a very dark fragrance that emulates the well-known Oud Maracuyá by Maison Crivelli. This dupe is very heavy, smelling of varnished leather with something fruity and a non-animalic oud (the fruity notes keep it in check). I have worn it for over a year and it has matured well. The presentation is beautiful: a wooden box beautifully adorned and lined with velvet, with a luxurious interior that makes any Tom Ford or Dior blush, although the blue bottle clashes because the fragrance is neither blue nor aquatic. For the price, it is 100% worth it. It is a beast in longevity and sillage; it can hurt your nasal passages and give you a headache due to how heavy it is. With three sprays, you get 12 hours of very strong projection; it lasts days on clothes. It is not for blind buying because the penetrating leather, fruity, and dark scent is not for everyone. If you like leather scents and have experience with this type of fragrance, you will most likely enjoy it. The quality of the notes is average, but it costs less than $30, so I am very satisfied. The investment is 100% worth it.

  • I was in an Arab store with hundreds of original perfumes when the salesperson recommended several fragrances, including the Liquid Burn I was planning to buy. He said it was good alongside the Liquid Burn, which is true; French Avenue does decent things, but with Azure Oud, it was the opposite. I tested it on blotter and then on my skin… nothing. In my opinion, it smells very synthetic, like artificial leather similar to plasticine and no more. I do not recommend buying it blindly or risking it with any perfume without testing; sometimes there is no solution. I ended up throwing my money at Mashrabya and Confidential by Lattafa instead.

  • BassoProfumo

To me, it reminds me greatly of Ombre Leather and also My Héroïne by Mac. It is leather, musk, incense, and saffron. Nothing new.

  • I must confess I am a huge fan of Maison Crivelli, and this Oud Maracuyá is a complex, challenging fragrance; if you connect with it, you will love it. I had been wanting to like it for weeks to justify spending €215 on the 50ml bottle, but just before deciding, I tested it and fell in love. In my opinion, it is even better than the original, with a sharper, more citrusy passion fruit. It is not for the office or daily wear, but in mild weather and creative settings, it is an absolute bomb that makes you unique, as almost no one smells like this and it is not due to poor hygiene. It is an acquired taste, much like trying your first beer at 16: once you have had it, you cannot live without it. Extremely high quality, nothing to envy from the original or its sibling, Liquid Brun. Projection, scent, and longevity: 9.5/10.

  • I tested it in-store on blotter, perhaps because I am not used to these scents, but it smelled of LEATHER to me and my partner. It is not for blind buying, and I think even less for pleasing others; it is too strong.

  • LeandroTucci

Edited in spring: I do not understand why people say it is for winter, even the bottle is blue. I used it in winter and no one noticed it; I tested it on hot nights and it does not suffocate, it is pleasant and noticeable. If French Avenue has already created Liquid Brun and Purple Coca, why create a winter perfume? I like leather scents; I read it feels like leather, but I cannot perceive that note, only a passion fruit from the moment I spray it that does not fade. Perhaps it is not animal leather, but a more wearable version.

  • I’m a huge Maison Crivelli fan, and Oud Maracujá is a complex, challenging fragrance, but if it connects with you, you’ll love it. I’ve been wanting to like it for long enough to justify the £215 for 50ml… and just before I decided to buy it, reluctantly, I found this masterpiece. For me, it’s even better than the original because I enjoy citrus notes, and here the passionfruit is sharper. It’s not for the office or everyday wear, but in temperate climates and creative settings, it’s a bomb that makes you stand out; this is unique, almost no one smells like this, and not because it smells bad. It’s an acquired taste, like trying coffee or beer at 16… but then you can’t live without it. Exceptional quality, nothing to envy from the original or Liquid Brun. Projection, scent, and longevity: 9.5/10.

  • It bears a strong resemblance to Club de Nuit Oud, yet Azure Oud leans more towards the fruity side, highlighting the passion fruit and leaving behind the heavily marked wood of the original. It’s an interesting scent, though I believe it would suit a woman aged 40 or over perfectly. Ideal for autumn and winter.

  • Without knowing the perfume it tries to copy, it has a very fruity opening that later blends with the oud. The longevity is beastly for someone like me, to whom perfumes usually don’t last on the skin. For the price, very recommended to buy.

  • First time doing a review. I bought a decant with high expectations. The opening is dark oud, greasy leather, very intense and nothing delicate, with passion fruit in the background. If you’re looking for something balanced and fruity, this isn’t it. It’s not a bad perfume, just not what I imagined. Leather and oud dominate; the passion fruit is very in the background. Cheers.

  • Blind buy, two days ago. I still haven’t dared to put it on my neck. The first day I sprayed it on my hand and had to go wash it off due to the fatigue. Yesterday I sprayed once in the room and I can still smell it in the air today. Nuclear bomb? No, the next thing, and yet I love strong scents. In the opening it seemed like oud, but after a minute it smells of passion fruit and from there it never goes back to oud. It’s a dark and strong passion fruit. To my taste, it’s rare to combine a dense scent with fruit. I still don’t know what outfit to wear it with; it’s not easy. We’ll see, I’ll find the occasion, maybe in the end I’ll like it, although I feel I’ll have to spray it only on the back of my neck.

  • Jonathanbs99

I sprayed the fragrance on a tester and its opening is delicious, but after two minutes I perceive a strong, challenging scent, nothing pleasant, like a quite animalic oud. I was going to buy it blind but thank God I tested it first because I didn’t like the scent once it had dried.

  • Haha, hello, I’m new to the site and have been dabbling in perfumes for a while, maybe eight months… living in a city with few options, I’m left buying blind. I have a more fanatical friend who said he didn’t like Arab fragrances. I followed my instinct and the money and bought Azzurre oud 😅 and wow… a proper fragrance! You need to know how to dress to wear it, or otherwise the perfume will lead you. I’m not an olfactory expert but I like aromas.

  • The opening is a super sweet and fruity passion fruit with lots of saffron and rose, but that passion fruit smells synthetic and sticky caramelised. Over time it improves greatly: the passion fruit fades and it leaves a ‘dirty’ leather with a petrol-like touch. Compared to Oud Maracuyá, here the passion fruit is sweet and synthetic, as if you’d fallen into a baby bottle, whereas the other is acidic, juicy, and realistic. When dry, Oud Maracuyá leaves a refined leather and a deep oud, while this one stays on dirty leather and the passion fruit disappears. What they most resemble is the transition, but here the passion fruit remains synthetic. It’s as if it were the same scent but of inferior quality; in Oud Maracuyá everything is perfectly blended, whereas here you note the ingredients separately. In the end, I chose Oud Maracuyá because I enjoy it from start to finish, whereas with this one I had to endure the transition to reach the scent. Moreover, Oud Maracuyá has far more nuances. I’d only see buying this if you want to get an idea of how Oud Maracuyá smells before buying it blind.

  • Haha, I’m a newbie in this perfume world, I’ve been into it for about eight months. As I live in a place with few options, everything has been blind buys. A friend, who is an expert, advised against Arab scents, but I followed my instinct and the money. I took the Azzure Oud and… what a beast! It’s a monster. You need to know how to dress to wear it, otherwise it takes you with it. I’m not an expert, but I love these scents.

  • This wonder arrived yesterday. I thought it was a sweet passion fruit, but it turns out to be acidic, like when you eat it without sugar: piercing. I have bronchitis and I was scared to spray it, but I did it on a piece of paper and a single blast flooded the room until night; the paper still smells. I like perfumes like this. Today it smells of dark passion fruit, accorded and beautiful, it reminds me of The Serpent by Maison Alhambra. I’m happy waiting to use it when it settles. I’m an olfactory slut because I love everything. My wife and I have similar tastes; she goads me when I buy. I’d recommend it to my past self, but you need to have a shameless nose to enjoy it. Unexpected beauty. I applied it at 5 p.m. and it was still there until 10:30 a.m. the next day. What a wonderful bomb! Damn, how delicious!

  • Jonathanbs99

I tried Atomice and the opening is a treat, but after two minutes it turns into an animalistic and aggressive oud, nothing pleasant. I was going to buy it blind, but thank God I tested it first because the dry scent didn’t suit me at all.

  • I don’t know what people see when they say it smells sweet or fruity, because it doesn’t. I don’t know the original, but from the start until almost the end, it reminds me of Ombre Nomade and its derivatives. It’s dark, dry, and smoky, a slightly more wearable version of the latter, I suppose due to that very distant passion fruit base, but it’s nowhere near sweet or easy to like. Fortunately, I grabbed a 10ml decant. Will I use it? Yes, but it will last months and months because I only see an occasion to use it once in a thousand.

  • I’ve had it for a year and Oud Maracuyá is spectacular, but something is missing here: the passion fruit smells very synthetic and becomes more noticeable over time; the rose is sweet-and-sour, and the leather with oud doesn’t stand out when dry. I wanted to like it, but I didn’t; I’ve already used half of a 10ml decant that cost as much as the Azzure Oud, and that quality is mediocre, almost poor. Comparisons are odious, I know, but they’re necessary here. The opening is very strong and that artificial sweetness lingers on clothes for days, but after an hour there’s no projection or trail; it stays stuck to the skin (as happens with French Avenue or Lattafa, where people confuse tenacity with good performance), but the actual performance is poor. Anyway, at first it was a yes, but with experience and honesty, it’s a resounding no.

  • It’s a perfume that divides opinion: I, who prefer dense and dark scents, didn’t take it home. It starts with an acidic passion fruit and the rose is barely noticeable at first. Then oud and leather dominate with a fruity undertone, while the benzoin adds a resinous finish that some recall as burnt ink or plastic. That’s why I’d advise testing it first; I loved it, but it can be tricky. After eight hours, close to the skin, it’s just amber and wood. It projects massively, so four or five sprays are enough. Scent 8/10, Projection 10/10, Longevity 10/10.
