Oud Madness is a masterpiece. On opening, it smells very organic; I notice the passion fruit, but it could be juicy black cherries from summer (the natural ones, not that synthetic smell sold as ‘cherry’). I also detect a liquor note, like cognac. In the heart, leather dominates, like a leather jacket with a floral hint. As it dries, it’s amber. The oud is very toned down, nearly undetectable. I haven’t tried the original ‘Oud Maracujá’ to compare, but this has me completely captivated and I’ve been using it daily since I bought it. Sometimes delicious bursts hit me at the office and I can’t believe they’re from my perfume. I haven’t been given compliments, but honestly, I don’t need them. Now in Chile, we’re in full winter, which I believe is the ideal season for this beauty. I’m not sure if I’d wear it on an extreme heat day in summer. Longevity: 9 hours. Projection: 3 hours. Gender: Male. Rating: 10/10.

The oud is heavily toned down, almost imperceptible. I haven’t heard the Oud Maracujá to compare, but this has me hooked and I use it daily. Sometimes delicious blasts hit me at work and I can’t believe they’re from my perfume. I haven’t received compliments, but frankly, I don’t need them. Now in Chile, we’re in the middle of winter, which I think is the ideal season for this beast. I’m not sure if I’d wear it on an extreme heat day. Longevity: 9 hours. Projection: 3 hours. Perfumon. When I tested it against the original Oud Maracujá, the resemblance is incredible. The longevity, while not quite as beastly as the original, performs superbly, with a fairly high projection and, above all, a trail that remains noticeable throughout its long life. If you don’t have the purchasing power for the original, this is your option. Another point in its favour is its excellent presentation, featuring a magnetic cap and a bottle very similar to the original.
Perfumon. I tested it against the original Oud Maracujá and the resemblance is brutal. The longevity isn’t quite as beastly as the original, but it performs brilliantly with a very high projection and a trail that haunts you all day. If you can’t afford the original, this is your option. Plus, the presentation is top-notch with a magnetic cap and a bottle very similar to the original.
