  • Undoubtedly very similar to the original, which is simply Guerlain Vetiver. I think the difference between this Extreme and the original lies in that the citrus notes and the vetiver are a bit higher or more perceptible. Apart from that, it’s simply the same!!! The truth is I stick with the original, the one that is just vetiver.

  • I tested Vetiver and Vetiver Extreme on my wrists at 5pm. Initially, the regular Vetiver smells fresh and citrusy (lemon, no tobacco), while the Extreme is harder, rougher and warmer (I detect tarragon, no citrus). After 10 minutes, the vetiver base is identical in both. Imagine Vito Corleone: the regular Vetiver is in light clothing in a sunny spring garden; the Extreme is in a dark suit and trench coat in the rain in the city. The regular Vetiver stays fresh with a soapy touch and lily-of-the-valley root; the Extreme turns smoky and spicy due to the incense and spices. It is now 12:11am, and both are close to the skin (the regular has more presence). When I returned to the shop at 6pm, both smelled similar, and after the sales assistant smelled my wrists, she said the Extreme suited my style better, whereas the regular was for an older man. I (29) like both, but I took the Extreme. 7.5/10 Cheers!

  • Today I tried Guerlain Vetiver on the left wrist and Vetiver Extreme on the right, applied by the salesperson at 5 PM. I let them dry to decide. In the opening they are very different: in GV it’s fresh and refreshing (lemon predominates, I didn’t sense tobacco), whereas GVE is harder, rougher, and warmer… I sensed the tarragon but not the citrus. After 10 minutes, in both, the vetiver feels almost identical in the base. To make an analogy: Vetiver would be Vito Corleone in light brown trousers and a white shirt, in spring under the sun of a garden with freshly cut grass; whereas Vetiver Extreme would be the same Vito in a dark suit and overcoat, for a rainy and cold afternoon walking through the big city. The differences: Vetiver stays fresh, accompanied by a note that seems like lily root and initial lemon that doesn’t disappear… whereas Extreme turns smoky and spicy due to the incense and spices. It’s 12:11 at night and both are very close to the skin (Vetiver with a bit more presence). While the common one maintained its final stage with cleanliness and freshness, with a barely perceptible soapy touch, Extreme stayed more woody and smoky, but without the previous incense predominance. When I returned to the perfumery it was 6 PM, the exact moment where both were quite similar and I couldn’t decide, so I asked the salesperson for help. Her comment was that Extreme looked better on me, suited my style (?), whereas the common one seemed more for an older man (in my opinion both are very wearable and timeless, I’m 29 and felt great with both), so I took only one and decided on Extreme. 7.5/10 Regards.

  • Guerlain’s Vetiver Extreme bears many similarities to the original: it’s neat, clean, and formal. If I sensed a bit more smokiness in this version, perhaps it’s the incense, but generally it’s very similar to its mother. I didn’t find it as spicy; rather, the base notes are the most noticeable: vetiver, cedar, and tonka bean. Its longevity on my skin, distinguishably, was at most 5 hours, yes with just two sprays, but it still felt too short. It’s not bad, but unnecessary if you already have the regular version as it doesn’t add many differences. In my case, I stick with the original, even reformulated.

Not much more to add about the scent, as everyone has already said: the name defines it. My contribution is its performance and personality. It is timeless and powerful; it is not a complementary scent that makes you want to keep your distance, but one that denotes cleanliness, neatness and confidence. It is fresh and pleasant, but not for very young boys or for everyday wear. I use it when I want to feel good with myself. 6 sprays gave a moderate trail of 5 hours and a lasting skin longevity of 5 hours. Outstanding in this regard. In summary: an essential for a collector’s wardrobe, a great scent with excellent longevity, for those over 30 and not for daily use. Cheers to all.

As for the scent, little to add that previous reviewers haven’t said; in fact, the name defines it all. My contribution is on performance and personality: I consider it timeless and very characterful. I don’t think it’s a complementary scent that would make a woman not want to be near you; on the contrary, it denotes cleanliness, tidiness, and security. It’s fresh, pleasant, and I don’t see it as suitable for very young men. Nor do I feel it’s for everyday wear. Personally, I use it when I want to feel good with myself. 6 sprays gave a moderate trail of at least 5 hours and 5+ hours of longevity as skin scent. In this, it excels. In summary, a fragrance that is never out of place in a collector’s wardrobe, a good scent with outstanding performance, age range +30 years, and not for everyday wear. Regards.

  • I’d like to know if this perfume is discontinued; every day it’s harder to find… It’s a lovely creation, not far from the mother fragrance, but with a deeper touch that I love for the office. There are fresher and more radiant vetivers in my collection, like TF and TH, but I chose this drier one for that mystery and a bit of sensuality. If you have the normal vetiver, this is redundant, but it remains one of the best designer vetivers that exist, something against which everyone compares. Something like the VW Golf: it doesn’t stand out in any way, but it does everything well.

  • @juangse I think they only changed the bottle. For a few months now I’ve seen many bottles on Vinted and Wallapop with the old format of Vetiver Frozen and Eau Glacée. In fact, I bought two and both carry the Vetiver Extreme label. As a vetiver perfume, it’s quite good, in the TF line but without being so fresh. The trail is acceptable and lasts about 6 to 8 hours.

The review for Vetiver Extreme (GVE) surely compares it to its father, the Classic Vetiver by Guerlain (GV): I must admit its longevity was better (around 6-7 hours) and the scent is similar, though slightly sweeter (without being sweet). That’s why I think, as some say, it’s more wearable nowadays. However, if you have the GV, I recommend ordering a sample of GVE to see that you’re not missing out much. I prefer the GV because it has more personality due to its marked woody and tobacco notes—even though people tell me that at 18 I smell like an ‘old man’. Smelling the Extreme encourages me to open my classic bottle and feel the depth that GVE lacks. Perhaps I think that because I already have the notion of the classic; those who approach the modern one first might think the other smells very old-school.

I’m a woman and I LOVE IT! Seriously, this fragrance is unisex; on my skin, it develops exquisitely. It truly smells like a MAN, an ALPHA MACHO, hairy chest, but worn by ufffff WHAT A BEAUTY! The dry-down on women is spectacular, it lasts on clothes until the next day, and on my skin about 10 hours as skin scent. It’s absolutely worth the money, it’s exquisite.

I am a woman and I LOVE IT! Seriously, it is unisex, but on me it develops exquisitely. It smells like MAN, ALPHA MALE, CHEST HAIR, and applied… WHAT A STUNNER! The dry-down on women is spectacular: it lasts on heavy clothes until the next day and on my skin for about 10 hours close to the skin. It is well worth it, it is exquisite.

I tried it in Mexico during summer, but on a rainy day with 14 degrees. The opening is very sharp, delicious, and intense; ultimately, an exquisite scent. It feels much more modern than the classic. The only drawback is that in this weather, it didn’t last at all: after two hours, it was already skin scent. It smells great, but the longevity is extremely poor. I’ll try it in heat or above 24 degrees. I’ll update the review.

I tested the vintage bottle. It is a dusty and potent vetiver that evokes melancholy and inevitably other decades. It smells of talcum powder, soap, nostalgia and old school.

I tried it from a vintage bottle, and it’s a powdery vetiver, potent and steeped in melancholy, transporting you straight back decades. It smells of talc, soap, and pure nostalgia—a true old-school classic.
