Descripción
Addictive Oriental by Alberto Morillas from Mercedes-Benz is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2015, this composition features the olfactory signature of Alberto Morillas. In its opening, mint and lemon, with their citrus and acidic character, awaken the senses. The heart of the fragrance reveals a harmony between lavender, fig leaves, and statice, bringing freshness and depth. Finally, the base settles on a warm and enveloping foundation of tonka bean, sandalwood, and cashmere wood.

I bought it in March 2019 and, as always, Morillas gives a masterclass again. At first, a fresh opening with very soft and sweet mint, nothing citrusy or powdery. It’s super addictive and, indeed, works for any weather, leaving an incredible sense of cleanliness.
Test on cardboard and someone else’s skin: on the skin, for now, it doesn’t smell oriental but rather the classic fougère combo of lavender and coumarin. It’s not very potent. On paper, the lemon opening lasted a good while, with an integrated hint of mint (nothing like toothpaste), followed by the previous duo. The next day, the base of soft, creamy synthetic sandalwood started to stand out. I was worried about the cashmere wood. The Infinite Spicy from the same series has it and on skin it’s brutal; there’s a Tiziana Terenzi perfume that also features it alongside star anise, and my skin amplifies that ingredient a lot. The box comes with a leaflet that smells of cashmeran as soon as you open it, and with this Addictive Oriental the same thing happened: at first it smells the same, but once applied, it’s barely present. As with almost all my reviews, these are first impressions that sometimes change with wearings, hehe.
In the ‘reminds me of’ section, it’s madness to say it smells like The Dreamer, Eros EDP or CK One; they have nothing in common. It’s like comparing night to day or an egg to a chestnut. I don’t care about the other similarities. Having this Mercedes perfume signed by master Morillas is enough for me; it has its own story and DNA. I’m tired of the backups used by big houses.
