Historically, in literature and legends, the forest inspires irrational fear. It makes sense, who knows what we might find? Wild animals, fantastic beings, perhaps a hunter or, at the worst of our fears, another human being. It’s understandable that people are uneasy about Ekos Alma. It’s an amphibious creature walking between perfume and the essence of a gloomy, humid, and mysterious forest. In this syncretism, some benefit and others are harmed: the blind buyers and those who fear the unknown. Ekos Alma is like black and white newspaper photos, lost Shostakovich tunes, mystical zones for those who live off death, irreparable places for those who have lost a loved one. It provokes reminiscence of fields where ripe grapes emit sweetness to be preyed upon by the soil. That late grape must combined with woods lives in Ekos Alma: earthy, resinous, woody, ostentatious. I see humidity, light browns, greys, I perceive vetiver, I smell sandalwood. I am transported to the Amazonia and could walk the paths of Encre Noire. ‘Oh, minha terra querida, És meu berço e meu lar, De florestas exuberantes, Onden cantam sabiás, Meu estado de Rondônia, No coração da Amazônia, De ti eu quero contar.’
Terribly complex and very particular, I haven’t heard similar aromas since I started with this (ten years ago). It’s a floral woody scent with earthy accents, leaning more towards the feminine than the masculine; I would need something dirtier or darker in the base notes to feel comfortable. Its presence is important, the sillage is notable and it seems to have very good longevity. It’s not for blind buying; it demands careful testing, it feels dense and substantial, which many won’t like. The flowers, woods, resins, and earth bring it close to a traditional school style (although not strictly speaking), which may make some feel it’s appropriate for older ladies. It’s true that it could easily belong to a house selling for over $100. Worth saying, as happens with many of this company, no one beats them in quality-price ratio. Addendum: almost six hours had passed since I applied it. An hour and a half ago it left an intense wood resin scent, with marked notes of terpenes, the smell of oil used to dilute oil paints, an industrial wood scent with mentholated notes, perhaps due to conifers. At this stage the blend turns to the masculine side: opening woody, moving to florals, and dying out in terpene resins. I reiterate my first impression: it is really complex. Update: I did hear something similar, but I don’t remember exactly what; it was one of Fueguia, if my memory doesn’t fail, Fueguier. The main characteristic was a very marked note of terpenes, but combined without the complexity of Ekos. To summarise: compositions of this type are not abundant, which is why its originality lies.
This perfume smells like a sweet honey intoxication from the heart of the Amazon.
Personally, I loved it; it’s a complex aroma without a doubt, I hadn’t heard anything like this before. Although many say it’s not usable, I saw it perfect for an outing on a rainy day, with this weather that makes the earth release its rich scent. I agree it’s complex and can’t be used just like that, but it’s an aroma that invites me to know it more, it has me hooked, it’s a well-made thing with good longevity.
Ekos Alma 2019 harvest: This fragrance is not easy… It’s one of those not worn every day. It’s not like many want to categorise it as ‘niche’ (I’d like to know which niche they compare it to). Natura wanted to step out of the script of the typical catalogue fragrance and they succeeded. The result is good, but nothing more. It’s this different approach that makes it work as an aroma, but not as a perfume. I would recommend Ekos Alma for those who collect scents, those who like to have them and smell different things. For collectors only. I can’t find an occasion to use it; it doesn’t seem to go with anything: neither everyday, nor casual, nor formal, nor informal, nor elegant, nor office wear. Only for the user themselves to feel and enjoy it (if they do). We must talk about performance: the longevity is average for an EDP but the projection is strong. The day we bought it, my wife sprayed it once on her hand and it was detectable from almost 2 metres; when she left, the scent remained in the air, incredible. I think due to the hype, many men wanted to claim it was masculine or unisex as an excuse to own it and be part of Natura’s ‘high perfumery’. The reality is that from the launch it’s noticeable as feminine, it’s neither unisex nor masculine, although there will always be those who say a perfume has no gender. To summarise: good aromatic composition, recommended for collectors. It’s not a very good perfume, not recommended for use in almost any situation.
Wouu jujujui, here it is Natura, it won the Oscar! What a tremendous creation, a unique aroma that doesn’t smell like anything in the shops. I say this based on experience as I own around 300 perfumes and this doesn’t smell like any of them. Although it’s unisex, I feel it’s more masculine… Here Natura gave me a slap in the face; I, being anti-catalogue perfumes, had to swallow my prejudices. 50 ml because I couldn’t find 100 or 200 ml, if I don’t buy this I’ll also try Homem Coraggio and Essencial Exclusivo. Again, more gems. I should reconsider buying perfumes from designer or Arab brands, as Natura seems to put effort and quality into their EDPs.
Ekos Alma is as good as it can get; it transports me to another dimension. I’ve been using it for a while and it’s wonderful. It’s woody and balsamic, making you feel in contact with the earth, embraced by scents of resins and wood with a sweet touch like honey liqueur, something I haven’t felt in another perfume. As a negative point, the longevity is short on my skin, lasting no more than 4 hours, and the sillage is moderate; I clarify that all these are from the 2019 harvest, perhaps the 2018 batch would last longer. There’s nothing like it on the market. Personally, I can’t find when to use it, but without a doubt, I feel very good with it.
I’ll describe it in a few words: it smells like a wealthy lady.
In Mexico, on 9 October 2022, it was released as a ‘last chance’ item—will it be discontinued? It costs $65. I’d like to know its value in other countries; people always say Natura is cheap, but here at that price you can already buy something decent from Versace, Carolina Herrera, or Armaf. Should I buy it before they take it off the shelves?
Smells like pure native forest; it’s a perfume of Mother Earth and truly distinct. The initial sprays are strong, but then you truly enjoy it.
I bought it for its reputation of being more masculine than feminine and for the price. That’s why I don’t regret it: $25 a day in Argentina. The opening is beautiful, it smells of damp earth with lots of vegetation and humidity, like a forest freshly rained on without sun. That lasts less than an hour. The dry down… the only thing I felt was jasmine and much more jasmine, nothing else. No other flowers, no sweetness, no honey (which isn’t honey) or anything of the 800 base notes. The car seemed freshly sprayed with GLADE air freshener… of jasmine. Projection of about an hour, the opening and some jasmine; then it remains for another 2-3 hours in a personal bubble with a trail, where you leave the scent. Finally on the skin for a maximum of 4 hours. The truth is, FOR ME, it is not worth the official Natura price. I don’t regret it because I bought it at 50% off, but the disappointment is huge after waiting months for a good deal. Recommendation: try it directly on skin from the bottle. It smells very different from the sample given by the consultants. Most importantly: it is masculine for 45 minutes, the rest smells like an old lady with a jasmine cologne.
As a girl I started exploring the world with encyclopaedias on the web. Cultures, customs, ethnic groups, religions, climates and landscapes. At 9 years old I adored going to any place on the map. I have a weakness for the tropical: jungle places, green, with vines and palms, intense heat climates and rains that clean everything. The Amazon and its mysteries, vastness, tribes, storms, heat and its unparalleled flora and fauna. Listening to music from Amazon tribes and smelling this aroma was incredible. It could not have been better achieved. It is the magical, natural, cyclical, intense and overwhelming smell I always imagined of that South American jungle. Wet earth after a storm, roots visible, dry woods and others wet, green leaves freshly grown and others withered. Birds singing, animals running, heavy air mixed with sweet resins from the trees. Exotic flowers with peculiar aromas. Ekos Alma is all that in a bottle. It is a perfume to enjoy on one’s own, to live experiences and to be transported to another place. It is not equal to another. It was not made for compliments or opinions. It is the perfume of nature, of the real, of life and of what lies beyond.
My wife sells Natura and doesn’t know anything about their plans to discontinue it, but I recommend buying it now, it’s a great perfume.
If I want to smell like this, I mix a bit of earth, grass, water, alcohol, a touch of wood and patchouli and that’s it. I have the Ekos Alma, a fragrance that cannot be called that. It smells like a shower, like wet earth with grass and water, alcohol and a touch of wood and patchouli. That’s all.
A different and very cool perfume. It doesn’t look like a catalogue scent; it smells niche due to its quality and aroma. Nothing difficult, very versatile, ideal for fresh and humid spring or autumn days. If you know Le Labo The Noir 29 or Tom Ford Noir de Noir, it will sound familiar: it is wet rose with woods, floral-woody but also oriental due to that opulence. They say it uses natural ingredients from the Amazon and the truth is, it smells very natural. Hints of resins, wet earth, sun-drenched woods, honeyed flowers… I imagine the jungle or a tropical botanical garden. Simple elegance that doesn’t shout but is felt. It generates good vibes, good comments from men and women. Performance superior to 8 hours, expansive for the first two hours and then creates a personal bubble. In Spain it costs €86 plus shipping. Forget the brand, this is another level. It may seem excessive, but as a high-quality niche, it is justified. It deserves no less than €80. Highly recommended, a hidden gem. Au revoir!
It is a unique, special and distinct fragrance. As several people said, it smells like walking through a humid jungle, something earthy but pleasant. The perfume is of excellent quality. In my case, I could not find many situations to use it, nor was it a scent that made me go crazy to wear it, no matter how interesting it was, besides the fact that it leans a bit more towards the feminine side although it is unisex, and I ended up selling it.
I think it is a very similar fragrance to Le Labo The Noir 29.
A unique beauty. A perfume that would quietly be worth $200-400 if it had ‘Creed’ or ‘Parfums de Marly’ in its name. A masterpiece, a unique experience of unparalleled complexity. Absolute unisex, very versatile but with the ability to stand out in both formal and intimate situations. Notes of damp woods, earth, honey, nuts, incense, ash, smoke and spices. A perfume worthy of the perfume hall of fame. If you can get it, buy it no matter what. Any perfume enthusiast must have it in their collection.
A different scent, an ode to the smell of the jungle, damp earth, resins and woods. It’s like walking through the jungle after the rain, touching the trunks of centenary trees. On my skin, no flower is perceived; all the resins are noticeable from the start, being a bit overwhelming at first, then they decrease in intensity and remain unchanged for 6 hours; a hint of a sweet note, like honey, very subtle, from some resin is noticeable. It could be the perfume of a shamanic priestess, like the lady of Cao or Pachamama. From the box, the bottle and the composition, a work of art. I hope it is not discontinued.
Ekos Alma is a unique piece in my collection; while it isn’t my favourite, I recognise it as one-of-a-kind. In my opinion, it transports you to another place, to the woods or the countryside; for me, it literally took me back to my grandmother’s garden, full of plants and trees on a rainy day, because it smells of dampness, exactly like vegetation after a shower, of living flowers, petrichor, of falling leaves mixing with the earth, of resinous tree bark, all in a natural state, a wild and deep scent. The quality is excellent, it projects well and lasts a long time, and due to its earthy, balsamic and woody composition, it is perfectly unisex; I think men who prefer the woody fougère family will like it. I enjoy watching the rain as much as I do, but I must admit it is hard for me to find occasions to wear it; however, I believe it is more appropriate for autumn. Who will like it: fans of the house Creed and of perfumes that teleport you.
A complex perfume. Not for beginners, but for noses with experience in perfumery. The florals stay in the background against the base notes (balsam, myrrh, vetiver, liana, olibanum). What remains on the skin is something very balsamic, woody, earthy and herbal. It’s a lovely scent, worth trying as an olfactory experience, but I don’t think I’d wear it in my daily life, so I only tested it in a decant and wouldn’t buy it myself.
I still don’t understand how no one has linked this Natura Ekos Alma with Magnificently Dubai by Joe Malone before. They’re identical.
It’s a pleasant perfume, but I must say: it’s feminine. Even if you force yourself to believe it’s unisex, in essence, it is. If you convince yourself it’s masculine out of shame for wearing a feminine scent, then you don’t have things clear. Either you like it or you don’t, wear it or don’t, but don’t make it say things it never said. The Amazon journey, the jungle, the shamans… not really. Okay, it’s a perfume and it’s simpler than that. An essence has more emotional than practical appeal: you like it or you don’t, and that’s it. I’ve read every description… it seems no one wants to miss out on the thrill of being the poet who best honoured Ekos Alma. This blend has nothing, it’s well executed and that’s all.
It smells balsamic and herbal. On me, the myrrh and balsams are quite prominent, with floral undertones. It’s lovely and distinctive. It’s perfect for rainy days.
Ugh, it smells incredibly unique and nothing compares to it. It’s beautifully crafted with real essences from the Brazilian rainforest. It’s a sweet, rich woody scent that literally transports you to the jungle: damp, sweet, aquatic notes of wet earth. It’s not for everyone, but for someone with personality who knows how to wear it.
Personally, I see it as more masculine than feminine: balsamic, herbal, and slightly effeminate. I don’t detect its floral notes in any phase. The opening is strong with prominent yerba mate and pepper, moving into a resinous and spicy aroma. Sometimes it smells like wet grass after rain in the forest. It has a brilliant development, nothing linear, it’s a complete fragrance, different and long-lasting. I like it, but it doesn’t overwhelm me; ideal for cold climates, autumn, and winter. I still haven’t found the perfect moment to wear it. Undoubtedly, it doesn’t go unnoticed, whether you like it or not. Ekos Alma truly lives up to its name: the soul of an Amazonian forest.
My wife bought it for me. It’s exquisite, long-lasting, and projects a lot. Very particular; to my taste, it feels more feminine than masculine. I detect a honeyed and talc-like touch that makes it different, which is why many say it’s niche. For its aromatic quality and uniqueness. Of course, it’s wearable; who doesn’t want to smell good? It has some versatility if you know how to regulate the sprays according to the weather.
It’s unique! My boyfriend used almost four bottles before it was discontinued. It’s pure unisex; if he wore it, I’d buy it for myself. People constantly asked what perfume it was, non-stop saying ‘how lovely’. It lasts for hours and has an incredible trail; you don’t even need to get close to smell it. It smells like a forest faun, a fairy, or a magical being: pure honey, woods, balsamic, violets, and moss. It’s literally a dream forest. Ekos Alma and Essencial Oud are Natura’s finest creations, surpassing any designer like Dior, YSL, or Givenchy. They really outshine them and smell like true niche. PS: I hope Natura brings back this wonder.
First things first, I disagree with those who say it’s feminine or that calling it unisex is self-deception; if you don’t use floral notes, it means you don’t understand that it’s not ‘for men’ due to sexism, but rather a luxury niche fragrance. It lasts about two hours projecting before settling into a personal bubble for another seven hours, staying close to the skin. Despite being floral, the blend of vetiver and balsamics gives it a totally unisex vibe, perfect for winter or spring. If you have the chance to buy it, DO IT; given the price you can get it for, believe me, you won’t regret it.
A brilliant choice from Natura, yet after three wears, it doesn’t feel as novel as claimed. On my skin, it behaves like an average EDP: opening with prominent pepper notes, then turning woody and resinous, before a honey-like sweetness emerges as it dries. The spices linger until the very end. Compared to others, it’s akin to a blend of Encre Noire (the woods and vetiver), Declaration d’Un Soir Intense by Cartier (the floral and spicy aspects), and L’Envol EDT by Cartier (the honey sweetness). It stands out for using notes from native Amazonian ingredients.
It is a fantastic perfume, a strange and unique gem. Please, never compare it to Magia da Floresta; that is a plastic disaster! This Alma is captivating and my safe choice exclusively on rainy days. I feel it envelops me with its warmth and extreme longevity; around six hours after application, it is still noticeable, with elegant and sharp flowers that I like very much. It can even make me dizzy, which is why I choose it to accompany my activities on rainy days. No one has ever praised it to me, but clearly I do not choose scents taking others into account, but rather how I want to feel myself 🙂
Completely unisex perfume and a clone of Le Labo’s Noir 29 (and Emper’s Black 92 as well). By far the best scent in Natura’s catalogue, a pity it has been discontinued. Lasting power is moderately long, projection is moderate; it lasts hours on skin. A true success and a true mistake that they buried it.
Undoubtedly the best quality/price perfume in the world, haha. I don’t believe there is anything that costs what this one does and smells this good. It has great quality; it is constructed like a niche perfume, superbly rounded, interesting, very identifiable, even sophisticated. It feels wet but resinous, without falling into smokiness, yet floral and sweet at the same time. It is a marvellous thing, hahaha. You must try it; it is quite similar to The Noir 29 (just a little more feminine on the Natura side).
Strange, temperamental, woodland, and ambered all at once. It smells of yellow tree tears that have fallen to the earth on a night of white light.
It is a perfume I would wish to have always. Its scent is balsamic and floral; that is the best I can define it, with a touch of wood. Nostalgic in my opinion, and slightly intoxicating. I adore its aroma, almost more than any other.
A connection to the earth that is no longer manufactured. Ekkos Alma 2019 is not just a perfume; for me, it is a work of art. I use it in very specific moments: when I need to concentrate, when I seek peace, introspection, clarity. There is something in its aroma that anchors me, that calms me, as if it were a silent ritual between skin and soul. Call me mad, but I feel this perfume connects me directly to the earth. It is as if I am breathing roots, resins, sap. As if it reminds me that I am part of something greater, something that needs no explanation, only to be felt. It is a balsamic, resinous, deep perfume. It has character, but it does not shout. It is not for everyone, I know. It has that spiritual quality that many might not understand. But if you understand it, if you feel it, it accompanies you in a way that few perfumes achieve. It hurts me to know it has been discontinued. I treasure mine and use it with care: only two sprays, now and then, like opening a sacred box for a few seconds. I long to try the 2025 edition, but this 2019 version has something special… something irrepeatable.
I have the 2019 version and I treat it like gold; it is wonderful, unique, long-lasting, and deserves to be categorised as niche. The new edition is about to be released; I am eagerly awaiting it and hope it respects the original gem.
I agree 100% with what Exocet commented. Simply to synthesise the sensations he describes, I add: it smells of wild honey. The kind produced by bees in natural habitats, where they gather nectar from native flowers before producing the honey. This Natura scent smells exactly of that particular honey. Very rich. Would I use it? No. Is it a gem anyway? Yes.
I ordered it from a friend who was in Brazil; I couldn’t find it here in Spain. It was quite expensive, I think it was 50ml and I paid around £45; I’m not sure if that’s excessive, but it didn’t seem as cheap as people say. £90 for 100ml is simply outside normal catalogue pricing. Setting quality aside, which feels superior, the scent is rich. I didn’t expect it to be so sweet, and I’m not sure how much I’ll use it, as I don’t enjoy sweet fragrances that much. The first spray reminded me of Night Flyer, perhaps with a touch of earthiness, but then I tested it on the other hand and they had nothing in common; maybe there is a very subtle similarity at times, but I wouldn’t compare them directly. Later, it reminded me of another scent; I never tried The Noir 29 by Le Labo, but I owned the equivalent Divain 755, and yes, this one reminded me of it quite a bit. Although the other was excellent and I sold it because it felt too sweet and good, perhaps this one will meet the same fate, even though the other seemed more subtle, making the sweetness more bearable. It is good and interesting, but I’m not sure if I’ll give it much use. It feels of very high quality; when I tested Night Flyer on the other hand, this scent simply ceased to exist.
When trees embrace us and perfumery becomes art… It is a resinous scent that moves and comforts, a perfume with a true soul.
