I don’t know where to start with this marvel, ‘Hijos/as de la alegría’. I’ve been a huge fan of this house’s fragrances since I was young; it’s often said their standards have slipped in recent years, but suddenly here comes THIS SCENT, with that opening of night-blooming flowers, those that release their aroma when the sun sets… and then gives way to that exquisitely exquisite honey, which in my opinion no other house is capable of achieving. Launched in 2020, it gives us that KICK of joy we needed and now need again. Although I wouldn’t be unfaithful to Bois de Miel, I must say this fragrance has made me hesitate for the first time, for men, women, non-binary people and even aliens. A joy without a loud, strident laugh; it’s an elegant laugh like a rattle that accompanies you throughout the day and more. Longevity: 9/10. Sillage: 2 metres in the first few hours. Price: High but worth it. I recommend it to those who, even in adversity, are capable of seeking within themselves the sweetness of honey to get through the hard times; it is so delicately strong that it almost makes me cry.
A MEDICINAL BALM OF JASMINE AND HONEY: I admit I’m rather obsessed with this perfume; I’m already on my second bottle after finishing the first a few months ago. Fil de Joie has a mysterious facet, yet at the same time sweet, sensual and even poetic. Its opening recalls an old apothecary: an intensely camphorated incense resin (like that of the now discontinued Tubéreuse Criminelle, though in much softer doses) gives it that balsamic and medicinal air. You don’t know if you’re facing a sacred ointment from ancient Egypt or among the dusty bottles of a mystical apothecary. But soon that cloud dissipates and the heart appears: a night gallant (night jasmine) deeply aromatic, without a trace of indole, softened by narcotic ylang-ylang and, above all, by a thick, waxy, dark, sticky… and absolutely wonderful honey. Much better achieved than that of Elie Saab. Here there is no vanilla-sweetened honey or purposeless synthetic honey: everything is in its place, everything has weight and density. Even though it’s a fragrance dominated by honey, I don’t consider it a gourmand. It’s more of a floral-balsamic with a discreet musky base, which is felt like a warm echo beneath layers of resin and flower. The performance is excellent and its use is surprisingly versatile. It has presence, yes, but also a certain ritual transparency that makes it wearable even on mild days. Who would I recommend this perfume to? Anyone with imagination, artistic sensitivity or a taste for old-school artisanal perfumery. It’s not a difficult perfume, but it’s not for everyone either: it has personality, mystery and asks to be lived with attention. And when it finally merges with the skin, it leaves a trail like from another time. Like a warm spell that never fades. 🍀 PRECAUTIONS FOR USE: it can stain clothes. And be careful: during its use, bees may flock to the hive.😉

A sweet, pleasant floral accord, abstract yet with too much musk for my taste.
