  • Serge Noire is a beautiful way to wear a delicate and complex fragrance, very different from the brand’s usual offerings but without losing that exquisite essence. It evokes refined good taste; patchouli is key here, sensual and neither earthy nor smoky as in Borneo 1834. Cinnamon and amber add elegance, creating a perfect fusion between woods and sweet notes that give it that sensual chic touch. It doesn’t smell heavy; it’s light, easy to wear, and pleasant always. I recommend it for intimate and refined moments, like a gift that makes the person who smells it feel pleasure. Exquisite, elegant and highly recommended. Rating 8/10

From the very first second, the spices, incense and woods promise something dark, dense and comforting. Upon application, Serge Noire emerges with a hazy, very physiological vapour that, although unpleasant at first, lasts for mere moments and acts as a curious surprise factor. Then come the clove and incense, followed a few minutes later by the cinnamon with its sweet heat, blending into the spicy block. For half an hour I detect a slightly medicinal touch, like a botanical product, probably due to the woods and patchouli. Once dry, it leaves a rich and refined incense and spice scent on the skin that recreates smells very present in the Middle East; it’s an attractive blend. For moments it reminds me of Gucci’s Envy For Men. The interesting thing is how it blends naturally with the wearer, being either elegantly masculine or passionately feminine. The sillage is acceptable, without being extremely potent. Frankly, I used to think niches always had high projection and longevity, but I see it varies from fragrance to fragrance, just like designer scents. In this case, the projection and duration are moderate; it’s neither good nor bad, simply how it is. A very pleasant oriental whose quality is noticeable. Rating: 8.5/10

  • This perfume left me rather indifferent. Although I read that it can turn into an ammonia scent on some people, on my skin it was nothing like that. I must say I tested it at the same time as others, and given that it seems to have a short projection, perhaps for both reasons I didn’t sense it as it should. I would define the scent in two blocks: on one hand, a dry, slightly smoky wood; on the other, the spicy combo of clove and cinnamon… and little more, truthfully; I would need to wear it more carefully to form a broader opinion, but certainly it doesn’t look like I’ll like it enough to want it, hehe.
