  It smells a bit of Monolith and brings me back to entering Bodybell. It’s green smoky lavender with lots of tonka bean, almost like Allure Extreme, and when it dries leaves a balsamic amber touch. The lavender is herbal and avoids those urinary nuances that can sometimes be annoying. It smells good, but as it’s not very versatile and the price is high for what you get, I’m not adding it to my collection. By the way, perfumes at 2 euros per ml seem cheap now, but the quality-to-price ratio in the cheaper ones is usually worse. Thank goodness for discounters and exceptions, hehe.

  It starts with a metallic, smoky lavender that, mixed with incense, gives a strange and original scent. When it dries, the tonka bean appears, soft and almond-like, nothing plastic like in designer scents. The lavender persists but the burnt nuances fade and the woods come forward. It seems more masculine and suited to cooler climates. It lasts longer than the average Lutens, but although it’s interesting, it doesn’t conquer me: the blend can get tiring and the tonka becomes cloying. Plus, lavender isn’t my favourite note. I’d try it once, but I wouldn’t buy it for my collection.

  The name Gris Clair fits perfectly: it’s the darkness of incense against the clarity of lavender. Both ingredients create an intense, smoky blend. The incense isn’t overpowering and the tonka sweetens it, making it easy to wear. The lavender is prominent, creating a sombre floral aura, not a soapy one. It almost feels monotonous until the iris emerges as it dries. It’s not simple; it’s complex, elegant and mysterious. Although unisex, I think it suits women better, enhancing that sense of mystery. The downside is the trail is very weak and longevity is around 6 or 7 hours.

  I like it because it brings me childhood memories: a day in the countryside picking lavender and putting it in the fireplace along with orange peel.

  Uuuffff! I absolutely hate it. Smells like burnt lavender, smoke, just smoke.
