  I tested this on a split at the office. At first, those ten seconds reminded me brutally of Penhaligon’s The Inimitable due to the spiced woods, but that impression vanished instantly when that intense cacao mixed with tobacco kicked in. The notes don’t clash; it’s a good combination. The smoky, slightly boozy sensation carries throughout the perfume’s life. After an hour, a metallic note emerges; based on the declared notes, it could be the liquor or the smoke, but judging by the ingredients listed on Perfumerías Julia (geraniol, linalool, etc.), I believe it’s that. It grated on me a bit because in a gourmand, the last thing I expect is a floral/metallic resurgence, although it does add a touch of freshness. It’s not bad, just undeclared and can lead to blind buys that end poorly. It’s for personal enjoyment or light contact. It looks rich, though it’s on the verge of being forgotten by the next day. Full of vices: tobacco, sweet, and liquor, yet the perfume doesn’t corrupt me. It’s certainly not the most expensive niche, so under no circumstances should you buy it blindly. In my opinion, it doesn’t go beyond what it promises.

  As the product description states, it’s a smoky cocoa – neither too strong nor overly sweet, with that defining woody note. Perfect for chilly days and evening wear. It won’t make your head spin, but it does its job well.
